“That’s true” Luna said as she lay her head down on her monkey stuffed animal squeaky toy. She yawned, and watched as Willow play with her puzzle toy. “I was never any good at those” Luna said. “Caroline got me one but then she just gave it to Brandon when I spent 30 minutes trying to figure it out” Luna said, as she recalled the day she had tried to do a puzzle toy. She yawned again and snuggled close to her squeaky toy. Closing her eyes for a nice nap.

Looking over at Luna, Willow blinks in confusion. "Really? But you're a border collie. They say that these toys are perfect for your breed. You are a border collie, the smartest breed of dog in the world. Maybe you're just too impatient. I think that you should give it another try. They really are good for mental stimulation. It keeps your mind occupied." She says, as she opens up another compartment, so that she could access another piece of kibble. "This type of toy should be a piece of cake for you." She says.

Luna grumbled slightly. “I mean….i guess I could try” she said, as she stretched and walked off her dog bed and over to Willow. “Ok, how do I do it?” She asked, sitting down and curling her tail around her paws as she watched Willow demonstrate how to do the puzzle game. Luna just started at it as she worked on it.

Looking at Luna, Willow scoots over a little bit, so that Luna could lie beside her. "Well, it's a lot easier than maybe it looks. Every compartment here, holds a treat. You're never going to be surprised by no treats, whenever you open one. All you have to do, is use either use your paws or your nose, to move the doors and knobs to open it. It takes some thinking and persistence, but it's worth it, I promise. The reason it takes you so long, is because you didn't start from the easy ones like I did. You're starting on the harder levels, because that's what I'm doing." She says.

(That's fine. I do have some work to do tomorrow.)

Luna tilts her head and thinks for a moment before pushing her nose down on one of the compartments. A treat was revealed. "I did it!" Luna said, as she grabbed the treat and ate it before letting Willow do the next one. Luna wagged her tail as she found another treat when she did the puzzle. "Oh this is fun!" She said, as she continued to eat the treat she had just found. Eventually, Luna and Willow had found all the treats in the puzzle game. Luna wagged her tail. "I like this" she said, as she padded back over to her bed and lay down.

Looking at Luna, Willow nods, proudly. "Good job, Luna. I knew that you could do it. You just have to take your time, and just be gentle with the way that you use your nose. It really is fun, when you take the time to think about it. The treats are yummy too, of course. Maybe Caroline will get you one of your own." She says. She knew how much fun they could be, since Brandon had introduced her to the toy when she was just four months old. They were a great way to keep her busy, whenever he was doing schoolwork in his room.

Luna nodded. "Well, she would only get me one if she were to see me playing with yours I suppose" Luna said, as she licked her chest fur a little. "Any way, where exactly is this collage place that Brandon is going to?" Luna asked. "He's like 17 or 18 I think, and Caroline is 13 or 14" Luna said, as she knew that her human went away to school during the week and came back later in the afternoon. She got up and padded over to her water bowl for a quick water break before padding back over to her bed, laying herself down, and thinking about the puzzle toy she had just managed to complete.

Willow nods, "He's 17, so he's going to college after graduation. He said, from what I've heard between him and his mom......that he can't decide between 2 different schools. There is one that is about 2 hours away, where he would just stay in an apartment with friends. Or if he is really being adventurous, there's a college that he's been looking at, that is a couple of states away. It would be a huge distance, where he would only come home for the holidays. Whichever he goes to, he's taking me with him. But he still has to finish up junior year, then complete senior year, then he'll probably have made his decision." She says.

Luna whined. "I don't want you to go Willow" Luna said to her friend, as she licked her ear. "You're my best friend, and without you here...who am I supposed to play with?" she asked. "Well, besides Caroline, who am I supposed to play with when she's doing school work?" she asked, her tail tucked between her legs as she nudged her friend lightly. Luna sighed and sat down on the ground. "You'll come back for holidays too, right?" She asked, not realizing she still had a good two years left with Willow before Brandon went off to college. Luna looked over at the stairs when she heard Caroline's foot steps. She wagged her tail as Caroline came over and rubbed both dogs behind their ears before sitting on the couch with her phone.

"I know that you don't want me to go, but I promise that I'll be coming back. Regardless of which college, Brandon goes to, I know that he wants to stay here in this city. He wants to spend his time here, remember that he has a girlfriend, and she loves it here. We'll always come back for holidays, unless there is a trip. But we'll be back for Thanksgiving, Christmas. You'll hear from their mom, about when he comes back home. We won't be apart forever. We'll always be friends and we'll always be there for each other." Willow says. She leans her head a bit, into Caroline's hand, when she feels the young girl scratch her behind the ears.

Luna smiled her big doggy smile and she licked Willow. "thanks Willow" she said. "I know that Caroline is going to miss Brandon just as much as I'm going to miss you" She said, nudging her friend slightly. She sighed, and looked down at the floor. "if...If Caroline enters me in shows, do you think you and Brandon would watch it on the television?" Luna asked as she knew that the dog shows were streamed live on tv. But then Luna was wondering if she could even manage to do a dog show without having her best friend with her.

"I'm sure, that if Brandon is informed and if he chooses to watch it, I will be watching, ready to support you. You'll have my support, with whatever you're doing." Willow says. She knew that it would be terrible, as a friend, to not watch something, if provided the means. Luna had big dreams, and she wanted to be sure that her best friend reached those dreams. "You just promise me, that when you do those shows, that you give it your all. Don't hold back. Give it everything that you have." She says.

Luna smiled and nodded. "I will" she promised as she said, as she licked her friends ear. "And you keep doing your hikes, I know how much you love them" she said, with a cheerful smile as she hopped onto the couch and lay her head down in Caroline's lap as she watched the dog show. "That could you be you, Luna" she said, rubbing her head. "It will be you, I just know it!" Caroline said as she watched the dogs on tv. Luna picked up her head and watched the tv as well, before she looked over at Willow, hopped off the couch and made her way towards her. "I don't know if I'd ever win" she said

"Don't say that, Luna. You're one of the fastest dogs that I know, and I know that you can do it. You would just need to train and practice, so that you can get better at it. I heard from that pointer down the street, that the key to a good agility dog, is to make as sharp turns as possible, so that it doesn't take you too long to get through the course." Willow says. She wasn't the type of dog to like competition, but the hiking was something that she could absolutely do.

Luna listened to her friend with pricked ears. She nodded whenever her friend said something. "Take sharp turns" she said. "Got it!" She nuzzled her friend a thanks before looking down at the puzzle toy. "I'm gonna see if Caroline can fill this up for us" she said. She barked and Caroline looked up to see Luna pawing at the puzzle toy. "you want to try the puzzle toy, do ya?" She asked Luna. Luna barked again and Caroline filled it up with chicken treats. "YUM!" Luna said, excitedly. "Chicken!" her mouth watered as she got started on the puzzle
