Austin decided to help his hangover by taking a shower and then lying in bed. He was kind of kicking himself for not grabbing clothes from the bedroom first, so he had to walk back to the bedroom with just a towel on.

Lia was cawling around on the floor playing with her toys, when she bumped into the leg of the kitchen table, hitting her head. Chloe looked up from her phone when she herd Lia crying. "Lia sweetie?" Chloe asked, as she went over to her. "what happened." She picked Lia up and she was rubbing her head. "did you hit your head?" Chloe asked Lia. Lia nodded and Chloe kissed Lia's head. "lets get you an ice pack" she said, going over to the freezer and grabbing an ice pack placing it gently on Lia's head. "there" Chloe said, as she set Lia down in her pack n' play

After the long shower, Austin decided to head downstairs for some coffee. He got himself a cup and put only sugar into it. His head was still hurting slightly. But at least the pounding seemed to go down. At least somewhat. The sound of Lia screaming seemed to make it worse for a few minutes as he placed his head on his forehead.

A few hours went by and by the time Austin was feeling normal again, it was almost 4 pm. Chloe was working with Taffy in the round pen while Molly watched Lia. "Come on Taffy" Chloe said, clucking her tongue to get the pony moving. "lets go" Taffy was moving at a swift trot but would not pick up a canter. "come on" Chloe said, as she started to run. Taffy picked up a canter and tossed her head to the side each time she cantered. "woah" Chloe said and Taffy slowed to a trot. She now saw the problem. Taffy threw her head every time she cantered, but that was something Chloe couldn't really fix

"She looks lame," Austin announced as he watched Taffy as she tried to canter. "Something must be wrong with her front left leg." Austin had walked up to Taffy as he placed a hand on her shoulder. Leaning into her shoulder, he asked her to pick up her leg. He checked it for a moment and then put her leg back down. "I can't see anything going on outside. I am assuming that there is something wrong with her coffin bone or some other bone in her leg."

"Should we call the vet to see if he can give her leg an x-ray?" Chloe asked as she pet Taffy's nose. Chloe hadn't noticed it but Austin was right. Taffy did look lame when she tried to canter. "That could be the reason she's throwing her head all over the place" Chloe suddenly thought out loud. "If the vet confirms she's lame, we keep her on stall rest for a few days, maybe a week, and then I can see how she canters when she's all healed" Chloe said as Austin was pulling out his phone.

"Depends if the damage is permanent. If anything, only children can rider her. Or she can be used as a broodmare," Austin announced as he gave Taffy a pat on her shoulder. "Go ahead and call the vet. For now, do not work with her until we know what is going on." He then reached handed Chloe the halter.

"ok" Chloe said, as she slipped Taffy's halter on. Then, she brought her back to her stall in the barn and called the vet. When Taffy had been brushed down and given a bat of hay, Chloe went over to Austin. "the vet will be here in the morning" Chloe said as she went to Beauty's stall to check on her. "hi Beauty girl" She said, rubbing Beauty's nose. Beauty nickered a hello and nuzzled Chloe through the bars of the stall

"Good. I have a few errands to run tomorrow. I may not be here when the vet gets here," Austin announced as he headed to the house. He just wanted to see if he could see what was wrong with Taffy since Chloe was having a tough time trying to find out what was wrong with her. He was surprised that he picked it up right away.

The next day, Chloe went out to the barn around 9 as the vet as coming early. She started doing some barn chores until the vet arrived. When he arrived, Chloe explained what Austin had said. She put Taffy's halter on and brought her to the cross ties where the vet could do the x-ray easier. Chloe rubbed Taffy's face, keeping her calm while the vet worked.

Austin had gotten up at about 5 as he had some errands to run. He had some beef orders that he had to ship out personally to some friends and family that lived back east.

Molly was in the kitchen with Aidan and Lia. She was currently feeding Lia her breakfast of pears and blueberries. A sippy cup of apple juice sitting on the counter. When she finished feeding her, she handed Lia the sippy cup and she started drinking the apple juice. While she was doing that, Molly got up and went to get herself some coffee.

As Dr. Carson was working with Taffy, she looked at the last X-ray she had taken and then back at Chloe. "I see that she has a fracture that never healed properly on her pattern here. I am assuming that her owner never knew about the fracture since she was not showing any signs of pain whatsoever. As I look at it, I do see a few splinters of shattered bone here," she pointed to the place where she saw it. "It could be that she aggravated the injury recently."

Chloe nodded as she listened to Dr. Carson. "alright, so what do we need to do?" Chloe asked, as she walked over to the x-ray to take a look herself. She saw what the vet meant and thought for a moment. "do we just keep her on stall rest for a while?" Chloe asked. "or with this type of injury is there something else we need to do?"

"Right now, keep her on stall rest. She can be hand walked as I do not want her to activate the injury any more. I will come back in a few weeks to see if there is anything we can do," Dr. Carson announced as she turned off the X-ray.
