They begin a hard journey without any protection from older horses. They have to fight of threats like humans, wolves and foxes. They come across multiple different herd….each one denying their request to join. They soon start to give up, when they find a herd after the first snow fall. One of the yearlings explains to the lead mare and stallion that they were exiled from their herd and need a new one. Will this herd let them join…or deny them like all the others?

She loved living in her herd, but sadly had no siblings. She was able to play with some of her cousins, but they soon became bored of her. Sugar felt lonely and sad. When, one day, she was grazing happily when she saw a few yearlings that looked to be fun. She went over to them and started to make conversation. The three hit it off really fast, and Sugar's parents were so proud that she had finally found friends. They loved pulling pranks on other members of the herd, but when they took it to far...things got bad. The lead stallion was angry with the three yearlings had done. He had been angry for a VERY long time. So it was decided that they would be exiled. Sugar's mother, Crystal, did everything she could to keep her filly in the herd....but nothing worked....so she finally gave up. The day her daughter was pushed away from the herd, was the hardest day of her life. Sugar did everything she could to plead with her mother and father to let her stay...but they had to go with what the lead stallion said. Slowly, Sugar and her friends left the herd, with the gazes of their parents watching after them...wondering if they would ever find another herd to call home

Name- Galmúr Gender- Colt Age- Yearling Appearance- Parents- Leita (Mother) Rassak (Deceased Father) Likes- Running/Racing, Rolling (not in mud), Spring breezy days, Thunderstorms, Grazing, Streams (or creeks, or lakes, or ponds, just any water he can get in and swim), His two best friends, Keeping his friends safe, Standing up for his friends. Dislikes- Those he cares for getting hurt, humid or hot days, mud, being helpless, Predators of any sort (especially cougars), talking about his Father, Listening to any firm judgmental adults. Background- Galmúr is the son of Leita. His Father, Rassack, died two months before his foaling, from a cougar attack, sacrificing himself to save his mate and unborn son. As such, the buckskin colt had to grow up without a father. His mother, and two year older sister, tried their best to teach him of life and the herd rules, but ultimately, he began to feel pressured to be his father's carbon copy. Thankfully, he found two friends amongst the herd. Sugar, and Artemis, two fillies just slightly younger than him. The trio bonded quite closely, but the closer they bonded, the more trouble they seemed to create. At first it was just harmless pranks and weak rebellion... but it grew stronger. Every time something happened, his mother would take him aside and scold him, then plead with him, and resort to the worst thing of all. Telling him what is father would have told him, and how is father had acted when he was young. Often she would attempt to keep him from speaking with the two fillies, but even though she was years older than him, he was always able to sneak away. Whenever they got caught doing some mischief, he would immediately attempt to shield the two fillies from blame, but the herd grew wise to this quickly, and his pleadings were of no use. Although his mother had hope for him when she heard of these protective attempts, seeing just a glimmer of his father's courage and sacrifice glinting from deep within a stubborn, hardened heart. But as hard as she tried to keep him from causing harm, he refused to listen. She began pleading with the lead stallion as he began to threaten exile. But it was to no avail. Finally, one morning, Galmúr awoke to a the hardened, angry faces of the herd stallions, his mother pleading desperately behind them. And just like that, they were exiled. Never had the buckskin yearling imagined they would get exiled from their herd, and guilt struck as he saw the fillies pushed out from the herd alongside him. He attempted to plead and bargain with the lead stallion to get them back in, but the stallion was firm, and when the yearling refused to leave, the lead stallion charged him, sending him racing for the hills, his two friends beside him. And as they ran, he resolved, with guilt pounding in his heaving chest, to protect the two by his side, for he knew only too well the dangers of living without a herd.

sign ups Name- Cinnamon gender- female age- 7 role in herd: herd healer apperance- parents- mother: Honey (deceased) Father: Applejack likes- herd healing, her apprentice, helping her herd dislikes- wolves, cougars, snakes, cliffs. background- Cinnamon was born to the mare Honey and the stallion Applejack. When she was about 10 months old, she started hanging around the herd healer, who was called Vanilla. Vanilla enjoyed her help, but she kept trying to get Cinnamon to play with the other foals....Cinnamon always disagreed. She would say: The foals don't know how to play, and besides, I want to learn about herbs. Vanilla reluctantly agreed, and decided that from all the learning Cinnamon was doing, there was no point in having a different horse train her for something she wasn't meant to do. Vanilla could tell that herd healing was Cinnamon's passion, so she spoke with the lead mare and stallion, and they agreed to allow Cinnamon to be her apprentice. Cinnamon was overjoyed at this news. Being herd healer, was something that she had always wanted...well at least since she was 10 months old that is. She learned a lot beside Vanilla, and knew that herd healing was something she was passionate about. When Cinnamon was around age 3, the herd was attacked by a pack of wolves. Vanilla and Cinnamon had to work hard to get every horse healed...but the one horse that was unable to be healed...was Cinnamon's mother. Her mother died from too much blood loss, and since that day, she vowed to be the best herd healer in the history of herd healing. Cinnamon had never thought of taking on an apprentice of her own, but when the lead mare, Swan, told her that the scouts had seen a young yearling named Sugar, who had quick thinking to help her friend during the test to get into the herd, Cinnamon liked everything she heard, so she agreed to take the young filly on as her apprentice. Of course, when she first met Sugar, she was a bit skeptical at first as she was an outsider of the herd, but when she got to know the young yearling, and her passion for herbs, Cinnamon grew to like her a lot. Sugar learned quickly, and she was proud of her little apprentice. Cinnamon realized that taking Sugar on as her apprentice was the best choice she ever chose. Apprentice: Sugar

Name- Lorcán Gender- Stallion Age- 10 Role- Warrior Appearance- Parents- Svelka (deceased), Siobhan (deceased) Likes- Patroling, Keeping watch, reminiscing, Galloping, Fighting (to keep herd safe), obeying his lead mare Dislikes- Overcast glaring days, mud, young foals, laziness, talkative horses, Stormflash Background- Lorcán was born 6 months after the great Thunderheart. His warrior parents were eager to train him early to rise up and serve his herd, and he flourished with this training, his sensible mind making for a thoughtful yet powerful warrior. When he grew to be a yearling, he met Thunderheart. The two swiftly became fast friends, and before they knew it they both grew to be strong, fearsome warriors, along with Rassak who followed in his brother's hoofprints. When the young gray stallion was of two years, his father died of colic, and his mother, to counteract her sorrow, threw herself into her work, and was hardly seen. Lorcán did the same, although he still took time for his friend, who helped him through that dark time, and before they knew it, another year had passed. At this time, Thunderheart found a mare worthy to be his mate, a kind mare who had a fiery temper at times. Two years after this, Rassak found himself a mate as well, but his actions caused him to be banished from the herd. Not long after this, Thunderheart overthrew the tyrant controlling the herd, but no matter how hard he looked he could not find his brother. Often Lorcán was urged to find himself a pretty mare as well, but he knew his life would not be one for a mate, as he had become the head of the warriors, and his lead stallion's, Thunderheart, second in command. The gray stallion's life was certainly the warrior's life, and if it weren't for Thunderheart, he would've become a loner. And then Thunderheart had a son. This at first was a joyous event, even for Lorcán, until Thunderheart requested that he take the young colt as his apprentice. Unable to refuse his best friend, he reluctantly did so. But within the first year of the yearling's training, he grew fond of the young colt. He could see the fire of his father in him, and the gentleness of his mother. Wisely, he trained him not for the warrior's life, but more for his future role as lead of the herd. The yearling grew to be a stallion, with Lorcán as his honorary second father. Until suddenly an event rocked all their lives. Thunderheart was killed. A band of rogue stallions rushed down from the mountains and attacked. They were beaten back slowly and surely by the warriors of the Swifthoof herd, but minutes before they turned and fled, one scarred stallion managed an iron hard kick to Thunderheart's head, and the legend crumpled to the ground instantly. Sorrow swept through the herd at the death of their beloved lead stallion, and it was especially felt by Lorcán. For days he grieved, shutting himself out from the herd and spending his days in exhausting patrols. But Thunderheart's son needed him, as he would ascend to Lead Stallion. With effort, the older gray stallion pulled himself from his grief to assist the younger, and found that the more time he spent with the son, the less he felt the pain of his friend's death. He could see Thunderheart in the way the young stallion would move, or stand silent for hours on end, watching. Still, it took a year for Lorcán to heal from the passing of his best friend. Thunderheart's son grew swiftly, and he led the herd with the wisdom and skill of his father. A year after his father's death, he found himself a mate, and a year later, they had a son on the way. Until another devastating event... thunderheart's son was killed brutally. This death completely crushed Lorcán, as first the father, and then the sun died before his eyes, he powerless to stop it. And from then on, he remained alone, although it was necessary for him to be nearby, as Swan, the mate of Thunderheart's son, attempted to handle the weight of leading the herd. Her quick thinking and swift decisions protected the herd from outsiders and predators alike. And not long after, Stormflash was born. The future of the herd seemed secure. But Lorcán watched with foreboding as the young colt grew swiftly, praised and honored by all in the herd, even his mother. She spoke to him often of his father, and his grandfather, and the colt seemed to take these stories to heart... but Lorcán could see something in him. While his mother watched with pride as he would organize the patrols, or set up guards, the older stallion saw everything between that. He saw the impulsive way the colt reacted, the angry fire that flared through him if a horse displeased him. When Stormflash became a yearling, Swan requested that Lorcán be his mentor, fully expecting him to gladly accept the role. But the battle-scarred stallion refused firmly. He would take no part in training up another stallion to fall to his doom. And to this he stuck to for many months after, until word reached him of a young buckskin that had lead two fillies safely to the Swifthoof's forest... and it was rumored he was the very son of Rassak. Despite himself, Lorcán felt a curiosity and excitement at these words, although he did his best to quell them. But as soon as he set eyes on the golden, fiery yearling, he could see the evidence of his uncle. It was in the muscles that rolled under his gleaming coat, and the natural way he lead the two fillies. But even as he felt a draw towards the young colt, he kept his distance. He knew they had to pass the Test first, which was virtually impossible for such young yearlings. But still... something drew him even then. He requested to stand watch at the ravine, knowing it was the biggest test in the run. And so he saw with his own eyes the golden yearling fly over the ravine, he saw him fling himself to the edge to rescue the young filly, and he saw the selfless manner in which he ignored his own wounds, instead leading them onwards, and always in the lead. When he returned that night and heard the yearlings had succeeded and defeated the Test, he knew he could not ignore the pull any longer. And so, he requested, to Swan's surprise and Stormflash's growing anger, to become Galmúr's mentor. He would see if his instincts were right about this one... he would see if he was his father's son, and his uncle's nephew.
