Tempest nods a bit, since he could tell that that was probably very hard for Ember to accept. Sometimes, being removed from a home that was so familiar, was very crushing. That was how many captured mustangs felt. If they weren't able to get out, they lived very short lives, were very depressed, and just couldn't bear to let a human on their back. It had to be rough for a horse, to have a loving home, only to get tossed out by something so minor as a leg injury. "Well, I'm sorry that you went through that. Hopefully, that leg will heal," He says. When they reach the lake, he nudges her a bit with his head. "Welcome to the lake. A place where you can get good drinking water, and is a place where you can get cleaned up," He says.

Ember's head dropped slightly as she remembered the days past... her riders... so many memories she'd shoved away. They had been happy at the time, before she had known he callousness of her owners. Suddenly Tempest's voice cut through her thoughts, and she looked up, giving a slight smile and nod before looking down again, her mind occupied. A few moments later, she realized that he was speaking again, his nudge getting her attention. She looked up, and gasped slightly, her memories slipping away for the moment, pushed away by the beauty before her. "Oh Tempest! This is so beautiful!" she said, taking a deep breath and exhaling as she stared at the glistening lake.

Waiting to see Ember's reaction, Tempest had stopped walking, so that he could see how she was doing. He would need to help her form some new, happy memories, since it was clear that the memories with humans, had become rather tarnished. He couldn't take away the pain, but he could at least give her some comfort and help her enjoy her newfound freedom. "Would you like to go closer?" He asks. The world around them was filled with so many different sounds, from bubbling waters to different birds, to the gentle breeze that was rustling overhead. It was like a dream, to a horse, who had never seen such a sight.

Ember gazed around in silent awe as the breeze tossed her dark dusty mane. "It's... It's gorgeous" She said in a whisper, then looked over and gave him an almost violent nod. "Oh yes!" she said eagerly, taking a step forward.

Smiling a bit, at Ember, Tempest gently nudges her closer to the lake, staying close by. "Go ahead and get yourself cleaned up. I'll be keeping watch here, and don't go too far. The water is flowing, but not dangerously. But horses come here for water all the time. You might even see some," He says. While she steps into the water, he looks around, his ears pricked and alert. Horses weren't the only animals to come here. Every animal that needed water came here. Even predatory beasts, like bears and mountain lions.

Ember looked to him, listening hard to his words, then nodding, a gleam of excitement in her eye, despite the fact of the spoken of other horses. She was not at all ready to meet anyone... but the glistening lake washed any worries away. "Thank you Tempest.. I won't!" she said, then turned and stepped carefully into the water, shivering slightly at the cold before surging forwards faster, the cool water rushing gently by and beginning to carry the grime of captivity away.

As he keeps watch, occasionally taking a drink from the lake, Tempest flicks his ears, checking for any signs of danger. Thankfully, it was nice and calm. He could hear Ember, as she entered the water. Given the time of year, the water would be comfortably cool, so it wouldn't feel too uncomfortable for her. As he looks around, eventually, he could spot movement nearby, as a horse steps out of the woods, heading straight for the lake. Had it been any other horse, he would've tensed up and warned Ember, but he doesn't. It was just Cloud, a former lead stallion of one of the eastern herds. He was nearly all white, but no one really knew for sure. And he was one of the oldest horses in the valley. At the age of 25, it was clear that he was the one, that many horses went to for advice. Maybe at some point, he would introduce Ember to Cloud, to see what words of wisdom he would have for her.

Ember gave another blissful sigh as she moved deeper into the lake, but still she was careful not to go too deep, as Tempest had warned. The water rushed against her coat, and she could feel the dirt and mud sweeping off of her. With a sudden joyful whinny she plunged deeper, tossing her mane to get it and her neck wet as well, and in no way ready to return to the shore. Her focus was so strongly centered on the glistening lake, that it was quite some time until she caught a glint of white from the sunlight and looked over to the shore briefly. Her eyes widened and she stumbled back to the shallows slightly, nerves tense as she saw the horse on the other side. Was it a danger? Did Tempest know it? She gave a snort of nervousness and glanced over at him.

Tempest snorts a bit, in amusement, as he sees how Ember was taking great joy in the lake, plunging herself a bit deeper, splashing around. She definitely needed this, it was important, after the life that she came from. He was keeping an eye on Cloud, even though he knew that the old horse wouldn't hurt them. This wasn't his territory. Cloud was a wanderer these days, so he wouldn't have any interest in risking injury, or just being an overall terror. He wasn't like some of the other stallions, in that they were immediately aggressive. Looking over at Ember, he flicks his ears, reassuringly at her, to tell her that that horse over there, was harmless, and most likely would just get some water, and then go on his way.

Ember relaxed as she saw Tempest's reassuring movement, looking over with a little more curiosity as she realized the white stallion moved with the a slowness of relaxed old age. She looked slightly embarrassed and moved back into the lake, as she could still feel some grime clinging to her back and sides. But this time she was calmer, simply going in until it was quite far up to her neck, but still where her hooves could reach, and relaxing there for a few minutes. After a while she suddenly shivered. The water was getting to feel quite cold now that she'd been in it so still for this amount of time. Turning, she pulled herself out of the light current, emerging with a wave of water as she plunged out onto the shadows, her limp quite noticeably lessened from the water's soothing treatment. But it was no longer the dull, grimy, mud splattered mare that emerged. The water's swift current had run over her coat so many times it had removed the dirt, and now as she stepped out onto the shore, a glint of the afternoon sun flashed against her gleaming blood bay coat, which was starkly contrasted with her midnight black mane and tail. Unaware of the drastic change of her appearance, she shook herself vigorously, stumbling slightly then swishing her tail, eyes gleaming happily as she turned her gaze up to the dark stallion that was standing watch.

As Ember runs out of the water, Tempest nods, approvingly. Now he could see her, the way that she was meant to be. Clean and gleaming, not caked in mud. "I knew that there was a pretty horse under all that mud. I'm sure that feels a lot better now, doesn't it?" He asks. She had a rich, reddish-brown color, with jet black mane, tail, and legs. "Did you want to meet that horse over there? I know that you're new, but honestly, I think that Cloud is the perfect horse to introduce you to, in your first day in the wild. He isn't aggressive, and even when he was a lead stallion, he was one of the few, that was think first, attack later. He did have that streak, when he was younger, but that was years ago. He's a trustworthy one, and one that so many wranglers tried to catch and failed. Even now, he hasn't lost a beat. He was chased by humans last year, and he managed to shake them off, with relative ease. He knows how to deal with them. He lost his mate two years ago, but you'll see some of his offspring still around here," He says.

Ember gave a slight surprised snort at his compliment, but she had to admit it was nice to be complimented. How long had it been since THAT happened? She gave a vigorous nod "It definitely does!! I almost forgot what color I was!" she said in the attempt of a joke as she moved up the slight incline towards him. At his suggestion she immediately turned to watch the stallion, her ears flicking slightly in uncertainty. But his explanation of the stallion convinced her swiftly. "If you think he's safe, then I would love to meet him! But what will he think?" she asked nervously, swishing her tail. If he hated humans that much.. what would he think of her having been... domesticated?

"Well, it's been a few years since I've talked to him, and I don't always know what he's thinking. But he's usually fairly gentle with mares and foals. Just stay close to me. If he decides that he doesn't want to talk, we'll just leave him be. He's not aggressive, not as much anymore, so he should be okay," Tempest says, swishing his tail a bit, to let her know, that she should walk beside him. He shakes his head and neck a bit, before walking around the lake, towards Cloud. He could tell that the nearly pristine, white stallion had spotted them, though he already, likely, knew that they were there. He watches Cloud's body language, to see what he was thinking, about being approached by a horse, that he had never seen before.

Ember swished her tail nervously and quickly moved closer to him, almost bumping into him with her nervous movement before calming herself slightly. "Of course, I'll just let you take the lead here" she said, trying to dampen the nervousness in her tone. It was just another horse. Sure it was a stallion, but he was older. He'd be fine. As Tempest moved forward she quickly moved close by his side, staying slightly at his shoulder, her eyes immediately locking onto the white stallion. She gulped slightly. Well here it went... her first interaction with a wild horse! Oh... well besides Tempest, she quickly amended.

Nodding, Tempest walks beside Ember, to make sure that she was aware, that he was here to keep her safe. There were plenty of wild horses here, that he wouldn't trust with Ember's safety. But Cloud was different. Walking up to him, he dips his head respectfully, to the older stallion. "Good afternoon, Cloud. How has your day been?" He asks. He watches as Cloud dips his head in return, before laying eyes on Ember. "My day has been very good. The weather is clear, and the grass is lush and green. Who is this young lady? Is she new around here?" He asks. Nodding again, Tempest flicks his ears a bit at Ember. "Yes, this is my newest companion and friend. She was owned by humans, but has shown a desire to live here, where it is open and free. She is very nice, I promise. I'll let her introduce herself," He says, looking from Cloud, to Ember. "It's okay. Cloud is nice. He won't hurt you," He says.
