Rusty would then look at all the items they gathered "This will work but I think we should set it up tomarrow as I am pretty tired right now" Rusty said as he walked towards his bed and curled up and went to sleep, he knew that as long as they were aware of the theives there home would be safe from threat but he knew that tomarrow would be a real test of there willingness to protect there home from threats any kind of them.

Autumn dragged the string down the stairs and looked around for Rusty. "RU-S-TY?" She called through a mouthfull of string. She saw him sleeping on his bed and she purred a little bit before putting her string on the pile and then moving over to her own bed. Iris was still in the living room watching tv. She had told their housefolk she would remain there that night, make sure both animals were settled before leaving tomorrow morning. Autumn trotted over to her cat tree and climbed into her favorite spot, curling up with her tail over her nose and slowly falling asleep

Rusty would start to dream about catching the theives that were breaking into houses they needed to be taught a lesson no matter what, he started to growl in his sleep as he grabbed one of the theives legs in his dream and shook his head ripping some fabric off of the theif, he then saw Autumn leap onto the other theif's face and start scratching him, he knew this was a dream yet something about it felt so real like this was possibly going to happen but he wasn't sure, as he countinued to growl in his sleep his legs moving like he was now running towards something.

Autumn woke up the next morning to sunlight warming her pelt. She yawned and stretched. She shook a bit and then climbed out of her cat tree. She gazed around and noticed that Iris was gone, so Autumn trotted to her food bowl and saw that it was filled to the top. Autumns mouth watered and she began to eat her breakfast. Her tail swishing behind her. When she finished, she began drinking some of her water from her bowl.

Rusty would wake up and get to his paws taking a minute to stretch himself out before he would walk over to his water and food bowls, he noticed that his food seemed less then it was the day before was Iris telling him he needed to loose some weight he thought, as he devoured what food was in his food dish his tail constantly wagging as he ate his food savouring the flavour of his food, he heard a strange sound but he ignored it and drank some of his water there would be time to investigate the sound later when they both had full bellies and were more alert to there surroundings.

Autumn looked up from her water bowl and she purred. “Good….morning.” She said, as her mouth was dripping wet from water. She groomed her pelt and then stretched. After she finished her stretch, she padded over to the couch and jumped on top of it. Laying down to groom herself again. One of her mouse toys was laying near by, and Autumn went into a crouch position and wiggled her tail, leaping through the air and jumping on top of her mouse.

Rusty would greet Autumn "Good morning to you too" Rusty said, although his focus was elsewhere what was that sound he had heard he thought as he walked upstairs to investigate the sound he heard, he saw something strange outside a van that looked completly out of place it was parked a couple of houses across from them but he ignored it and then entered one of the kids rooms, he noticed a binder had been knocked off of the desk he carefully grabbed the binder in his jaws and put it back on the desk using his back paws to balance himself once he was sure the binder was secure, he went back downstairs and found one of his favourite toys, a stuffed duck that used to make quacking sounds but because of constant use it no longer quacked, but it was still fun to play with as he tossed it in the air and caught it in his jaws, he then saw a frisbee too bad the housefolk were not here he loved catching the frisbee in his jaws and bringing it back.

Autumn titled her head in confusion. What was wrong with Rusty? She wondered. Autumn shrugged and then went back to playing with her mouse, after a while she got bored of that and went looking for Rusty. "Hey, where did you go?" She asked him. She had noticed he seemed distracted earlier, but he didn't say where he was going, so now that he was back, Autumn had decided it would be the smart thing to ask him where he went. Autumn wished their housefolk had taken them with them on their vacation, but of course, they didn't. Sometimes they did, while other times...

Rusty would look over at Autumn dropping his toy between his front paws, "One of the kids school supplies fell off of the desk I just went to put it back on the desk" Rusty said to Autumn, as he went back to playing with his duck toy ignoring the frisbee that lay a few feet in front of him on a small desk, he could not shake this feeling that something was going to happen tonight but he pushed it aside, maybe Autumn was right they couldn't stop the theives that were stealing belongings from the houses, they were not enough to stop the theives at least that's what he thought at the exact moment, but then he remembered they had supplies ready to create a trap to catch the theives, but the hard part would be setting it up they didn't have hands like there housefolks only paws which were not great at holding objects easily.

Autumn looked up from her mouse once more. She tilted her head over at Rusty as he seemed to be in deep thought. Something about the way he was looking told Autumn that he was worried about the thieves. She was too! They were just two animals, what good could they do? The only way Autumn could scare a person away was if she hissed and made herself look scary, while Rusty...well she didn't really know. Of course there were times when the two hated one and other, but now they were the best of friends.....Autumn just hoped that if they managed to set a trap, they wouldn't make to much of a mess....or their house folk would get home and be very disappointed.

Rusty would break his train of thought they needed to get the trap set before theives really did take advantage of there housefolks absence, "Autumn can you help me set this trap up for the theives" Rusty barked as he waited for Autumn to come, he visualized the trap it was very complex but it should work at least in theory Rusty thought he could not help but envision the clean up after the trap was set off, it would take a lot of effort to clean but it would be worth it to defend there home, he carefully picked up a bag of flour in his jaws and moved it towards the kitchen, they would need something sharp to open the bag and Autumn's claws probaly were not the answer he was looking for, he looked up at the knife rack it was pretty high up but he was pretty smart and knew that a chair would help him reach it, so he pulled one of the chairs at the kitchen table out and pushed it towards the counter where the knife rack was, he then leaped up on the chair and onto the counter where the knife rack was, he looked at the knives they would need a big knife to open the bag of flour without making a huge mess or maybe a smaller knife would work better he thought, as he looked at the knives trying to decide what knife to use on the bag of flour, he then spotted a big metal bowl which would be perfect to dump the flour in.

Autumn trotted over to where Rusty was. "Ok, but how do we even know that the thieves will strike our house exactly?" Autumn asked, as she sat down and waited for Rusty to tell her what to do. "I mean, sure they've gone a lot different places yes, but who's to say they'll come here?" She asked as she watched Rusty work. "Oh, and how do you plan on using that?" she asked, indicating the knife he was getting. "I don't really understand your tactics here" She said with a light purr as she groomed herself for a moment before looking up and over at her friend again.

Rusty would look up from the knife rack to look back at Autumn, "I don't really know when the thieves will come but is is better to be prepared then unprepared, as for that second question true they do have a lot of houses to steal from but there only after the houses with the most expensive goods which would be houses like this" Rusty said from atop the counter to Autumn, he then spotted the perfect knife and carefully pulled it out of the knife rack and carefully held it in his jaws well aware of the sharp blade, "the knife is to cut the bag of flour open which I will dump into the metal bowl it might not get the thieves but if they step in the flour they will leave footprints" Rusty explained as he carefully got down to the floor with the knife in his jaws, which he then dropped by the bag of flour and got back up on the counter to retrive the big metal bowl and then dropped it onto the floor after he had got off the chair, it landed with a metallic thud before it stopped moving, he looked back at Autumn "were going to help the local police catch these thieves and maybe teach them a lesson or two, don't worry we are doing this to help our neighbors and friends" Rusty said trying to reassure Autumn that they were doing this for a good reason.

Autumn blinked a little bit. Rusty had a lot of hope for one small dog. Oh right, that was the only problem. They were animals. "Rusty, there's just one problem" Autumn said looking at her friend. "We're animals, how do you expect the police to get here to begin with?" Autumn asked. "Oh, and how do you think they'll believe us? They don't know what we're saying. To them, all I do is meow or purr" She said, letting out a hiss of annoyance. "oh, and can't forget hiss" Autumn added. "But seriously Rusty, what are WE supposed to do about this?" she asked. "I don't really see the point of the flour yet" she admitted.

Rusty looked at Autumn "I'm sure when it comes time to act we will figure it out have a little faith Autumn I have seen pets protect there house before" Rusty said, as he managed to pierce the bag of flour with the knife and dump some of it into the metal bowl with the help of his paws and jaws, "here let me demostrate what I mean about the flour" Rusty said as he spilled some flour on the floor and then walked through it his paws leaving pawprints in the flour, "The theives shoes will leave impressions in the flour and that will be a mistake if the police get here before the theives try and escape" Rusty said, he already knew how to contact the police "You remember that one time I dialed the emergency number by mistake on the house phone well I still remember how to do it the police came last time so I am sure they will come this time" Rusty said trying to convince Autumn the plan would work, even if he was not sure himself that it would work really well.
