"It should hopefully taste good too." Gale says as he turns the strips of venison roasting over the fire. He figured that Cass would be down soon as well. Though she had probably taken the opportunity to wash up, since she was in quite the state after skinning and preparing the deer. It was a messy job, one he couldn't do if he wanted to. But that was why Cass always handled the hunting and preparing the meat to be used. He didn't know how she did it without feeling sick.

Kennadee nodded. “Ok” she said. “I don’t really understand how Cass manages to kill animals for food. Like I understand that it’s necessary and needed, but I wouldn’t have the heart to do it” Kennadee said as she put her book down. “Ya know what I mean?” She asked. Kennadee always had a soft spot for animals. Sure she ate them, but that was because there was nothing else. But she could never kill one.

"Well... Cass is as tough as nails. Truth be told, I don't know all that much about her. I know she doesn't relish in it though. And I've seen her hunt before, she always takes care to make sure that the kill is as quick and clean as possible, so that the animal doesn't suffer. She takes her time to make sure that it's done with one bolt and that the animal isn't left to bleed out slowly. That's more than I can say for some hunters." Gale says. He had seen Cass with Bayberry and Falcon, she could be incredibly gentle, and nobody could deny that she loved that horse and that bird. He had no doubt that she felt compassion for the animals she hunted as well, or she wouldn't care enough to try and make it quick.

Kennadee nodded. “That’s good though” she said. Kennadee still didn’t like the idea of killing any animal no matter what it was for. She sighed and continued to wait for supper to finish up. She continued to read her book while she waited.

"We've got to eat... so I suppose we're lucky that we've got someone who's able to take care of that." Gale says, removing the meat from the fire so that he could begin to make up three plates. He could hear footsteps coming down the stairs. Given that Cass was the only other person besides the two of them in the barracks, he knew that it had to be Cass coming back downstairs after freshening up and getting changed.

Kennadee nodded. “I suppose that’s true” she said. “I think after I eat supper, I’m going to head upstairs for sleep” she said. “We all need a good night sleep tonight as tomorrow is the first day of tournaments” Kennadee said, as Cass came downstairs. “Hey Cass” Kennadee said

"Certainly wouldn't hurt to get some extra sleep." Gale says, passing Kenn a plate of food. Cass nods slightly in greeting to Kenn, taking a seat in a nearby armchair. Gale passes her a plate of food as well. "Thank you" she says, carefully taking the offered plate of food. She was definitely hungry after the long day.

"Thanks Gale" Kennadee said, as she began to eat her supper. When she finished up, she put her plate on the side. "I'll see you guys in the morning" Kennadee said, stretching and standing up. "Night" She said, as she headed upstairs for some early sleep

"Night." Cass says, reaching over to pick up her book. She wasn't quite yet ready to settle down to sleep herself yet, so she'd probably be downstairs for a bit longer. Tomorrow would be incredibly busy and she wanted to get the chance to read in while she could. They'd all need to be up bright and early for the start of the first day of the tournament. Her sword was already in good condition, so she wouldn't need to worry about sharpening it in the morning at least.

Kennadee opened the door to her room and took out her hair, before she brushed it and put it into a braid. The next morning she would need to get her hair wet and put it up in a bun for the tournament. Kennadee always had a first day of tournament ritual that she did. Woke up with the sun, did her hair, and put on her tournament outfit. If she had jousting that day, she would gather all the things she needed for Shadow's jousting gear. She would then eat breakfast, try to get some sketching in, and then feed Shadow and Glimmer before brushing Shadow down for his first round.

Cass turns the page of her book, continuing to read after Gale had also headed upstairs to turn in for the night. She was the only one left downstairs in the common room now. But she didn't mind. She had always been fine with solitude and she rather liked the peace and quiet. The only sounds were the occasional ruffle of Falcon's feathers as he moved, the crackle of the fire in the hearth and the sound of the pages of a book being turned. She would probably turn in soon, since sleeping in an armchair wouldn't do her favors, especially not the night before a tournament.

Kennadee woke up early the next morning. There was a schedule posted on her door from one of the royals about the tournament that was happening that day. Kennadee sat up and she stretched. After she got dressed, she got some water and put it on her hair so she could get it nice and pretty for the first day of the tournaments. After her hair was in a bun, she headed down stairs after grabbing the schedule from her door

Cass pulls out the nail pinning the schedule to her door and takes the paper, heading back into her room to look it over and get dressed and ready for the day. Her armor could wait until right before the tournament. There was no sense in getting into full plate armor until it was actually needed. For now, her usual long sleeved tunic and trousers would do. Once she was dressed, she makes her way downstairs to the common room.

Kennadee was making some left over food from the night last night for breakfast. "Hey" She says to Cass. "I got your plate ready" Kennadee said, as she handed Cass her plate. Kennadee's schedule of the day included Mounted Archery, Dressage on one of the royal dressage horses, sword fighting, and regular archery. "What's your schedule for today?" Kennadee asked as she fixed up her plate of food

"Ah, thank you. That is very kind of you." Cass says, carefully taking the offered plate. She wasn't used to having anyone else actually look out for her. It was a strange feeling. But she appreciated the thought. "Jousting, dressage, and fencing. After that I'm overseeing some of the younger squires competing in the junior's portion of the tournament" she says. She'd be using Bayberry for both the dressage portion and jousting rather than one of the royal horses. The fencing of course would be done on foot rather than on horseback.
