The Tournament of Blades (Private rp with Abbster)

"Thanks, Cass" Kennadee said, as she began to eat the breakfast that Cass had prepared. As she ate, she began to make conversation with the two other knights. "Hey, so this may sound a bit....strange" Kennadee said, as she took another bite of food. "But, I was wondering if maybe you guys wanted to be friends?" Kennadee asked, as she continued eating. While at tournaments, Kennadee had never really gotten to know any of the other knights, so she really didn't have many friends....but when she talked to Cass and Gale for the first time, she wanted to get to know the two of them better, and she wanted to be their friend.

Cass quirks an eyebrow slightly. This was a first, well aside from Gale. Though instead of outright asking to be friends, Gale had sort of just hung around and waited until she gradually warmed up to him. So this was still a first she supposed. Usually people were put off by or even scared off by her prickly demeanor. "You'd be one of the first to ask that. I see no reason why we can't be friends" she says. As long as nobody tried to pry too deeply into her personal affairs, she was fine.

Kennadee tried to hide her smile, but it showed anyways. "Cool" She said, smiling again as she continued eating. Kennadee was very glad that Cass had agreed to be friends with her...Kennadee still hadn't made any friends whenever she was in a tournament. "I'm sorta glad I asked" Kennadee admitted. "I've been in multiple tournaments, but I never worked up the courage to ask any of the other knights to be my friend" Kennadee said

"Ironic that you should start with me of all people if working up the courage to do so was the issue. Most people are put off by my... demeanor, I suppose you could say." Cass says. She was never all that outwardly expressive, but there was a hint of amusement in her tone. The younger knight's joy was somewhat contagious it seemed.

Kennadee laughed nervously. She wasn't about to tell her new friends that the real reason she never made any friends was because no one liked her. She went back to reading her book, in case it looked like she was hiding something. Kennadee sighed. The first real friends she had, and she was to scared to tell them that no one liked her. She closed her book. "Ok...so...the real reason I asked if you guys wanted to be my friends was because...well....every other tournament I entered, no one liked me. I tried to make friends, but everyone called me the annoying, snobbish, bragging knight." Kennadee said.

"It certainly wouldn't hurt you to be a bit more modest, if our first meeting was anything to go by. It can certainly rub people the wrong way when one goes on about being unbeaten. You need to remember that every other knight you meet has worked just as hard as you have to get where they are. People might not take such talk well, especially if they have more seniority over you. But it seems a bit extreme to resort to name calling over that." Cass says.

Kennadee nodded a bit. “Thanks for that” she said, as she finished up eating. “I may go to the barn to check on Shadow, or give Glimmer his breakfast.” Kennadee said. “Do either of you two want to come with me?” Kennadee asked as she knew she needed to give breakfast to both her horse and her Eagle. “I usually feed Glimmer and Shadow around this time in the mornings. If I don’t go soon, they’ll begin to get impatient” Kennadee said, laughing.

"No need to thank me, just a piece of advice from another knight. That's all." Cass says pausing. "I'll come with. Bayberry will be expecting me as well" she says, rising to her feet. Having gone out to hunt, it had been a busy morning. And it was still quite early in the day. With the tournament approaching, there was still much to be done.

Kennadee nodded and she stood up, leaving the barracks with Cass. The two headed to the barn and when they got there, Kennadee could hear Shadow neighed for her. Kennadee laughed and she walked to the feed room and began mixing Shadows morning feed. She mixed it up a bit and then picked up the bucket, walking over to Shaodws stall. She opened the door and poured his feed into the bucket. “There you go boy” Kennadee said, rubbing his nose and then grabbing a dead fish from the freezer for Glimmer before she headed out to her eagle.

After filling Bayberry's feed bucket up and getting some hay for the stallion, Cass makes her way over to his stall. The blood bay stallion sticks his head out, nickering in greeting to his owner. She opens up the stall door, stepping inside so that she could get his feed for the morning situated. He would need the energy to get through the day's training regime. Cass always had a strict training regiment, but it was especially important before tournaments.

Kennadee gave Glimmer the fish and then she whistled for him. “Come on, Glim” she said. Glimmer flew down with the fish in his mouth, swooping to her shoulder and landing on it swiftly. Kennadee laughed and she headed back to the barn. She met Cass a few feet away from Bayberry’s stall. “Hey” she said. “Have you met, Glimmer, my Eagle yet?” She asked him, as she rubbed his neck.

"Can't say I have, not in more than passing anyway." Cass says. Falcon was sitting perched on Bayberry's stall door, watching the exchange curiously. He was sizeable for a peregrine falcon, but still not quite as large as a bald eagle would be regardless. But he knew to keep his distance from larger predatory birds when Cass wasn't around to keep an eye on him. Bayberry was munching happily on his hay. Once he was focused on breakfast, it was safe to say that he wouldn't be paying anyone any mind until he had finished. Knowing that he was food motivated had helped when it was time to train him to be a proper war horse.

“Glimmer won’t hurt your falcon, just so you know” Kennadee said as she let him fly off her arm. “What training exercises do you want to do today” she asked, walking over to Shadows stall. She opened his door after she grabbed one of his brushes and then began to brush him down. Glimmer now sat perched on Shadows stall door as he let out a squawk. “Glimmer!” Kennadee said. “Dont spook Shadow” she said as she laughed, continuing to brush Shadow.

"I didn't think she would. But Falcon is quite cautious around larger birds of prey. A hawk had attacked his parent's nest when he was just a hatchling and I think he's nervous around larger birds of prey as a result. He has been ever since I found him alone in the nest." Cass says, holding out an arm to let Falcon know that it was alright to come. The young peregrine falcon spread his wings and took off, landing on her arm a moment later before climbing up to sit on her shoulder. That was one of his favorite perches, since he could keep an eye out while still being close to Cass. He never would stray far from her side, even when he wasn't perched on her shoulder or arm.

“Wow…that’s really sad” Kennadee said. “Where exactly did you find him?” She asked. “I found Glimmer in an abandoned nest with three other eggs. Obviously I took all three eggs home, but only one of the chicks was alive in them. Glimmer. So I waited until Glimmer hatched and then I got myself a bald eagle. Of course when she was old enough I tried to let her go, but ya know….she got attached to me” Kennadee said.
