Fern tried reading Crow's mind to see if there was anything there that gave a clue as to who took Alto but it was empty, "What if the hoofprints lead us into a trap or an ambush" Fern said trying to warn her herdmates of the possibility of the hoofprints being a trick, she reared up flaring her wings at Crow "Why didn't you protect Alto ...I am blaming you if anything happens to him" Fern said angry at Crow that she had let Alto be taken, she was a mess of emotions and wasn't thinking straight blinded by anger towards Crow for letting someone take Alto the stallion she had a crush on.

Ero was confused why Fern was upset at the big black mare that must be called Crow, "Please don't fight there will be a time for that but right now we have a herdmate to save" Ero said trying his best to stop Fern from starting a fight with Crow, he didn't like the fact that Crow couldn't recall what had happened as they could be facing something far worse then just Alto being taken, he had heard of the Darklands killing stallions who had killed one of there own herd members, what if Alto was on trial for something like that he could be dead before they even found him.

Grimarya gave a worried look to Crow, then glanced at the dart. Somehow, that must have washed Crow's memory of the event. "Alto's been taken... I... I think it's by that herd that captured you, because whoever it was that took him smelled a lot like that other stallion" she said, trying not to shiver at the thought of him. "I still remember where their herd lands are, and I can get a portal up for all of us to get through in a matter of seconds. With all four of us, there's no way they'll be able to stop us!" she said, getting riled up at the thought of any pegasus just waltzing onto their lands and taking one of their herd members.

Crow looked at Grimarya "Is it safe to use a portal we have no idea where it will land us in the herd territory" Crow said, she ignored Fern being angry with her and focused on Ero "It is okay Ero I won't fight her she needs to have a clear mind when we reach the outlands" Crow said trying to reassure the huge stallion that everything was okay, she didn't like to fight but she would if it was needed her large hooves could break bones and snap wings as easily as Ero's could, she could also ground a pegasus being taught how to remove feathers vital for flight when she lived in Osprey's herd it wasn't pleasant as the feathers often irritated her nose.

Alto would face the outlands herd over stallion, "Why would you let one of your stallions attack and almost kill one of my herd mates" he said in a questioning tone of voice, the over stallion snorted "From what I remember the herd mate was a mare from the Lunox herd an enemy of my herd we had every right to attack her" the over stallion said back, that caused Alto to lash his tail "that may be so but it is the fact that he tried to make her his mate by force that I see as a crime" Alto said back, he didn't approve of any mare being forced to become a stallion's mate as he always thought of it as a choice, "A CRIME no it is a survival tactic my herd has fewer mares then it used to have an illness killed most of my finest mares" the overstallion said his voice becoming almost pleading.

Fern calmed down her voice losing all its anger "I am sorry Crow I lost my temper" said Fern, she then turned one of her ears in Grimarya's direction "I agree with Crow we have no idea where we might end up" Fern said, she had mixed feelings about portals as she had experienced it once before and didn't like it very much, then she heard Crow apologize "It's okay Fern" Crow said as she walked up towards Fern and touched noses with her, she could hear Ero's nervousness in her mind the poor stallion had already experienced so much violence but he would have to face more if their herd was to thrive.

Ero wasn't worried about the portal it was old news to him, but the worry of having to face a herd so much like his old herd sent shivers down his large spine, he would face it with as much bravery as he could manage, he hadn't known that he was related to the mare called Grimarya all he knew was this birth parents had been exiled from the Lunox herd and created a small herd of there own, made up of small families that had been the only happy part of his life so far before he met Alto and other exiles like him maybe he was more like his parents then he thought.

Grimarya snorted slightly "No time for uncertainty, and I know exactly where it will land us. Right outside their borders, where I first swooped in to find you" she said, directing this comment to Crow. "Or if you two can't come, then at least Ero and I will go, he can travel without fear through my portal." He a grim smile settled over her muzzle "And I have a score to settle with that herd" she ground out fiercly.

Crow looked at Grimarya "I would love to go get payback on the herd that hurt you so bad" Crow said as she unfolded her wings to their full length, a small scar hidden on the underside of her wing was visible she waited for any of them to notice the scar and ask about it, as despite her healing power being very strong the scar on the underside of one of her wings had never healed, she remembered that day she got it and the look of worry on Eagle the stallion she only just recently discovered was her uncle, who had escaped with Crow's aunt from the Outlands, she never knew her aunt Raven as she had died when Crow was found by Osprey and brought to his herd as a two-year-old filly.

Alto looked on puzzled by the over stallion's statement "Please explain to me how a herd as strong as yours loses multiple mares to a sickness" Alto said curious to know the truth behind what had happened It all started when Shalmar my lead mare started having trouble breathing her coat was so pale and dull I worried for her and are coming foal but sadly a few days later she died leaving me to raise our last son, then I started to notice the other mares were getting sick it was only a matter of time before they too died leaving many stallions to grief over the loss of there mate, few were pregnant at the time only a few mares were spared from the sickness that had killed multiple mares, Umari was the first to notice the toxic water at the edge of our territory does that answer your question Alto stallion of no herd said the over stallion, this made Alto drop the hostility in his voice "I would suggest you speak to the other herds as I can do nothing to help you" Alto said, he then saw a stallion that reminded him a lot of Crow he even moved like her, "Is my sister happy with you Alto" the stallion said, Alto looked at him "You mean Crow yes she is fine but you hurt her that day you stayed here rather then follow her" Alto whispered back.

Fern looked at the scar on Crow's wing it was rather an odd location for a scar she thought as she spoke to Grimarya, "I am willing to go ...it's the portal that's making me nervous I could fly there and join you" Fern said as she spread her dark green wings, which shone emerald green when the sunlight hit them, her body was made for longer distances and wouldn't tire easily, she waited to hear what Grimarya would say hopefull she would not object to her flying rather than taking the portal like the others.

Ero reared up "Let's go," he said full of energy his voice was loud like thunder but rumbled lower than Alto's, he unfolded his wings and prepared his body for the ride through the portal he didn't fully extend his wings as Crow did, "You might want to fold your wings Crow the portal will bounce you around and might damage your wings if you keep them fully extended," Ero said trying to keep her from making a mistake he made a long time ago, he still had a few bent feathers on his one wing from the incident they didn't hurt him anymore but they made flying a little difficult sometimes.

Grimarya looked from one pegasi to the next, then nodded at Fern swiftly "If you wish, meet you there" she said, then nodded to Crow and Ero. "Follow Ero, he'll keep you on course" she said swiftly to Crow, knowing the stallion had traveled through portals before. Suddenly she thrust herself into the air, soaring into the sky and beginning to swiftly flap her wings, focusing on the place she had gone last time. The portal burst into existence with a flash of violet and a crackle, beginning to grow as she focused her mind on it harder. She hoped that Ero knew when to go in, because she couldn't tell him when while concentrating on the portal.

Crow followed Grimarya her large body glided through the air with ease she folded her wings in a little as she approached the portal, she knew Ero was right about not fully extending the wings as she had seen many pegasi with wing injuries from trying to ride fast-moving air currents, she looked down below to see Fern getting ready for the long flight ahead of her and preparing herself for the possible rough landing, she just hoped the pegasus mare would be alright she would be flying alone and that might make other herds suspicious of why she was flying alone.

Alto was quiet as the stallion processed what Alto had said, "Tell Crow I'm sorry I never meant to hurt her my name is Epsilon in case you didn't know" Epsilon said before he trotted away, Alto watched Epsilon trot away from him and back to his fellow herd mates but he stayed close to a red roan mare with dark pink feathers who had a small filly nursing from her, he could hear some of the outlands pegasi talking about him "Can you believe he got kicked out of his herd for being with the over stallion's daughter" spoke a battle-scarred bay stallion, the other stallion just shook his head and mane "He is just a flight instructor anyways who we want are fighters for our herd oh like that black mare we once had" spoke the other stallion, Alto knew who they were talking about but didn't say anything to any of the gathered pegasi, he looked towards Epsilon if he had heard the comment he didn't react to it at all, probably didn't want his herd mates knowing who the black mare really was he thought.
