Midnight blinked slightly. Why did she always have to get so sensitive about the smallest things?! She sighed and swallowed. "I'm sorry" she almost whispered. Midnight turned her head and felt tears fall down her face. Thankfully, Beauty had fallen asleep. Midnight pressed her face into Specks neck and just sat there. Midnight was acting like a filly, who can't get over the past. What was wrong with her? Why did she always get so sensitive?? Midnight slowly pulled her head away from Specks and she just rested it on the ground, not making eye contact with her sister. She felt stupid and she felt like such an idiot. Finally, she spoke. "I'm so stupid and im just a big stupid idot"

Twilight opened her mouth, then closed it as Midnight pressed herself into Specks silently. A pang of guilt went through her. Really, it wasn't that big of a deal, she shouldn't have said anything. A little while later Midnight laid her head on the ground, and her next words made Twilight feel extremely guilty. "Oh Midnight, No you aren't, not at all. Everyone has things that still make them sad or upset, and it's ok to have those. I understand" she said softly, nuzzling her.

She smiled and hugged her sister. Just then Harley came galloping up. "MIDNIGHT! SPECKS!!" He screeched. Midnight looked up. Harley was alone, where was Stardust. Instantly, Midnight stood up. "Harley? What's wrong?" she asked. Harley stopped, breathless. "Its Stardust." Midnights ears flattened. If her daughter was dead. "What's wrong with her?" she asked. Harley took a breath. "She collapsed." Anxiety blazed in her Midnights eyes. She looked at Twilight and then Beauty who was still sleeping. Then she looked at Specks. "Twilight can you watch her? Rusty, I'm gonna need your help with healing" she said, then she turned and galloped with Harley to where Stardust was laying on the ground. "Stardust?" Midnight mumbled. "Mom" Stardust lifted her head. "I'm so cold" She said

Twilight smiled, but her head came up eyes wide as Harley raced up yelling in a panic. Stardust. Something had happened. Her heart beat fast and she got to her feet in worry, nodding encouragingly to her sister. "Of course" she said, worry in her eyes. Rusty nodded and got to his feet as well, worry creasing his forehead as he raced after Midnight.

When Rusty made it, Stardust glanced at up him. "Uncle Rusty" she said. "do you know whats wrong with me?" she asked, trying to sit up but falling over again.

Beauty woke up a while later and looked around. "wheres mama?" she asked. "and daddy?" her parents were gone, all that remained were her aunt, and cousin. "aunt twily..whats going on? is something wrong?" she asked, worry sparking in her eyes

Rusty frowned, pressing his nose to Stardust's forehead, then her side, then stomach. "You're cold?" he questioned. "What did you eat today?" he continued, glancing over at Midnight.

Twilight turned as she heard Beauty's voice, nuzzling her gently, trying to dispell the worry from her eyes. "Oh they're fine, they just wanted to go talk to stardust for a few minutes" she said easily.

Beauty nodded. "ok" she said, snuggling up next to her aunt.

"Just some grass" Stardust said. "and maybe...a flower" She looked at harley. "go get it" she said. Harley ran off and came back a second later with a blue flower in his mouth. Midnights eyes widened. "Drop that now" she said. Harley looked at her confused. "why?" he asked. "that flower is deadly. Stardust are you sure thats the one you ate?" Stardust nodded. Midnights eyes clouded and she looked at Rusty. "is there something you can give her?" she asked.

Twilight nuzzled her, then looked off in the direction Midnight and Rusty had disappeared, worry etched over her face.

Rusty's eyes widened as she mentioned a flower and he waited worriedly for Harley to come back, gasping when he saw the flower. "Wolfsbane" he muttered under his breath, then turned to Midnight thinking hard. As far as he knew.. there was no pure cure for it. He could only try. "I need to go gather some supplies, keep her warm, and get her some water" he replied, turning and racing back to the herd. Weaving between the horses, he finally spotted Starlight and Nightlight and skidded up to them. "I need you two to gather some herbs for me, it's going to be hard to find them in this season, but we need them to save Stardust. She ate wolfsbane" he said quickly. Before they could react he continued, shaking his head to distill their outbursts. "No time for panic, we need to work fast. Nightlight, I need you to find me some yarrow, peppermint, and jewelweed." He then turned to starlight. "Starlight, I need you to get me some tumeric, chamomile, and basil." Quickly he added "If you don't know what they look like, find a horse that does and take them with you. I don't care if it's the flower, the root, the leaves, or the entire plant, but we need to find some." Hoping his instructions were understood, he whirled and raced to the woods, searching for some more complex herbs, bark, and plants.

Midnight nodded and settled herself beside her daughter. "I'll get her the water" Specks said. He ran past Midnight and his daughter and found some water, of course the water was near Twilight, so he stopped to update her. "Don't tell Beauty, I don't want to worry her. Stardust has eaten wolfsbane" he murmured.
Starlight and Nightlight looked up when their brother in-law came galloping up to them. Nightlight nodded. "I can do that, I saw some when I was looking for Midnight the other day" he said, galloping towards the west. Starlight looked at Rusty and thought for a moment. "tumeric, chamomile, and basil. Got it. Oreo showed me what they look like" she neighed loudly and started galloping away. After a little while, both Starlight and Nightlight returned. "got them!" They said together. They dropped the herbs at Rusty's feet. "do you want us to take these to her or come with you?" Nightlight asked

Twilight's eyes widened as Specks came galloping up, quietly telling her what had happened. WOLFSBANE? There wasn't a known cure for that! She could only pray to Epona that Rusty knew what to do.

And Rusty hoped he did too. Racing through the forest, he bent his head to sniff here and there, snatching up a leaf, peeling some bark, or digging up a root here and there. Finally he gathered everything and galloped back to the place he'd left Nightlight and Starlight, dropping his herbs in a pile as he nervously waited for them. After a few minutes they raced up, dropping the herbs at his hooves. "Yes, please pick up your herbs and follow me, i'll need help getting these cures created." he said, quickly picking up his pile and racing to Stardust. Reaching her, he set his herbs down on a rock and motioned for the other two to do the same. "Specks, do you have any of that water left?" he asked quickly.

They nodded and followed after him. When they got there, Midnight was huddled beside her daughter, Specks was dripping water into her mouth and Harley was no where to be seen. Starlight was a bit thankful for that part at least. Specks nodded. "here" he said. giving Rusty the last bit of water he had from the moss. "mom" Stardust mumbled. "its ok" Midnight said, nuzzling her daughter. "I'm right here, and I'm not going anywhere." a tear rolled down her face as she glanced to the sky and prayed. -dad, please please don't let epona take her, not yet, I can't loose her too- amen- She opened her eyes back up and just kept praying. If her dad had gotten her prayer, he would do everything in his power to help his daughter, Midnight knew that

Rusty quickly dropped the water onto a section of the herbs, pushing his hoof down and grinding the green bits to a pulp. He took a leaf from the other pile and carefully wrapped it around some of the pulp, creating a sort of pill. He made three more, each time mashing up different herbs and plants, until he was finally done. "Nightlight, I'm going to need a bit more water, she needs to be able to swallow these" he said, motioning to the pills and holding the spongelike moss out.

"ok" Nightlight said as he raced off to find more water. He came back moments later with 3 wads of moss soaked in water. "will these work?" he asked, dropping them into the pile.
"Rusty" Midnight said. "is she going to be ok?" Midnight was pressed against Stardust on one side while Specks was on the other. "Starlight, can you go have Twily find Songbird so she can watch the young ones, I'm gonna need her support right now." Starlight nodded and raced off to her oldest sister. "Twily" she called, skidding to a hault. She whispered in her ear. "Midnight is going to need you, find Songbird and Buttermilk to watch these two. Look, I know you don't trust him, but Stardust is bad shape"

Rusty nodded abruptly to Nightlight, turning to specks next. "Please squeeze the full amount into her mouth as soon as i put a pill in, one moss wad for each pill" he instructed, picking up a pill and dropping it into her open mouth. Turning to Midnight his eyes flashed with worry. "Well we have all the right herbs, so it should counteract the wolfsbane.. but it really depends when she ate it, and how much she ate" he said, shaking his head. "After i give her all these pills, the most we can do is pray" he added.

Twilight looked up as Starlight raced up to her, getting to her feet worriedly. Her ears pinned momentarily at the thought of buttermilk watching over the fillies, but worry for her niece took over. "Ok, tell Midnight i'll be right there" she said after a moment, turning and racing off through the herd. Now to think.. if she was a filly again, where would she and her stallion crush be? The answer, the warmest patch of grass, or under a tree. Cantering around the herd, she eyed a small copse of trees a ways off from them and headed for it, crashing through the crisp icy underbrush, and skidding to a halt as she found Songbird grazing, rather close she might add, beside the palomino stallion. As they heard her break through the brush, they both turned, Songbird with a guilty slightly worriedly scared expression, ears pinned. Buttermilk was looking slightly confused, and stepped a bit in front of Songbird, as if in protection. Twilight glared at him, stalking over to Songbird. "Songbird, I need you both to go watch Nutmeg and Beauty. Stardust seems to have eaten wolfsbane, and Midnight needs me right now." having said her piece, and just able to stop herself from saying more, she whirled and charged back through the brush, heart thumping as she stretched out, racing over the plains, skirting the herd, and not stopping till she saw the small group huddled around a filly on the ground.

Songbird gasped in surprise as Twilight spoke to her then whirled and disappeared, leaving her blinking in shock. Stardust was poisoned? With WOLFSBANE? Any horse over the age of 1 knew it was deadly! Buttermilk broke through her thoughts, a worried, confused look on his face. "Songbird, who was that?" he asked. She looked over, glaring at him slightly. Wow, he was so nieve at times. "That was my mother" she said, then shook her head. "We need to get to the fillies fast so Mom can go to Midnight" she said, leaping into a canter through the trees, following a well worn, although secretive, path. Buttermilk was right behind her, apparently realizing that questions would have to wait till later.

Starlight nodded and raced back toward her older sister. “Please be ok Stardust” she mumbled before she saw her sick neice laying on the ground. Stardust may be older than she was, but she was still her aunt. She watched as specks was squirting water into her mouth each time she swollwed a herb. “You’ll be ok” midnight kept saying. But what she wasn’t. Starlight laied down in the ground to keep her other side warm. Midnight shot her a greatful look. “Twily will be here soon” she promised. Midnight nodded, her heart twisting.

Beauty looked up when she saw her older cousin. “Hi songbird!” Sje gasped when she saw buttermilk. Beauty, oddly enough, really liked Buttermilk. “BUTTERMILK!!!” She squealed, cantering up to him as she danced around him. “How are you? I haven’t seen you in ages!!!” She was all excited now.

Midnight watched as her daughter was getting healed. “Oh twilight, hurry” she mumbled. She knew her sister would hear her neigh through the herd. Nightlight, lay with her for a moment.” Nightlight nodded and midnight stood up, reached her head towards the sky, and neighed loudly. “Please hurry” she finished. Then she layed back down beside her oldest daughter and pulled her in for a hug. “You’ll be ok. Rusty knows what he’s doing” she promised. She closed her eyes again -daddy, please don’t take her- she prayed
