(First of all... umm wow specks uh... interesting change of character. Second, twilight looking mortified? Nope)
Twilight sighed, nuzzling her sister then stepping back so Specks could hug her. At his words, her eyes softened slightly. Poor specks. He'd lost his mate for an entire year, and yet she held onto her grief so tightly he still couldn't be with her. But any sympathy for Specks vanished in a heartbeat as he suddenly exploded at her. Suck it up??? what was wrong with her??? What was wrong with HIM? Something was obviously wrong. The specks she knew would never say those things to his mate. Her ears were flat on her head as she stared at him, eyes flashing with fire. Then she took a few steps towards him until they were nose to nose. "You. Do. Not. Ever. Speak. To. Your. Mate. Like. That" she said slowly in a quiet angry tone. "I don't know what got into you, but that is absolutely unacceptable. You are a disgrace as a mate, stallion, father, and relative. I'll take care of the girls today, I want you to go and settle whatever's wrong with you this instant, and don't you DARE approach this family until you're ready to make amends for your words" she said, eyes burning with righteous rage.

Specks looked at Twilight and then he flattened his ears. “What have I done?” He mumbled. He spoke to his mate in a way that he never thought possible. He hurt her and he knew that. “What am I supposed to do?” He asked himself. He took a slow breath and walked towards midnight. She was munching on some grass when he arrived. He was heading towards her with sunlight blocked his way. “I don’t think so” she said. “I don’t want you ever speaking to my daughter like that again” she said. “You hear me?” Her voice was stern and cold. Specks nodded slowly. “Good, now, if you want to apologize, go right ahead.” She stepped aside and specks walked towards midnight. She picked her head up and flattened her ears, scared he would yell again. “I’m so sorry” he said. “I know you’re hurting and I should never had said those things. I didn’t mean it” he leaned forward and nuzzled midnight. “I love you and I want you to take how ever much time you need to heal” midnight looked at him, she knew he was telling the truth. Love shown in her eyes and she pulled him into a hug. “It’s ok” she said. “I just miss my dad so much” he nodded in understand. “I think I’m ready to come back now.” She said. “I slept alone the rest of the night last night, and I knew I was ready” he nodded and lead her towards their family.

Twilight glared at him without replying, her stance telling him to leave. She watched angrily as he slowly walked away, then turned back to her own family. Thank goodness Stardust and Beauty hadn't been around for THAT. Actually... she didn't seen Songbird or Nutmeg around either. She frowned slightly, then brushed it off. They were off playing somewhere of course... or maybe the two older ones were with their stallions. Her frown deepened. Buttermilk. She still hadn't talked to him. Her thoughts were broken as she saw Midnight and specks making their way back. Eyes narrowing, she glared at Specks coldly. Really? Midnight had forgiven him and done what he wanted? That wouldn't be good for the future.

(No she hasn’t forgiven him. As soon as he falls asleep, she’s going back to their mother hahaha)
Midnights ears we’re still flattened against her head. When she reached her sister she whispered in her ear. “I’m only here till he falls asleep, I really just want to be with mom right now” she said. “I’m not ready yet” she shuttered slightly when specks brushed beside her but smiled at him anyways. Stardust and beauty were making there way over. “MAMA!!!” Beauty squealed excitedly. She galloped forward and reached her mother. Throwing her neck around her in a big hug, “hi beauty” she nickered, hugging her youngest filly back. She had to admit, she did miss her fillies. She glanced at twilight and then specks and sighed. She wanted to go back to her mother, so badly. She looked at specks. “I’ll be right back” she said. She turned and headed back for her mother, galloping the rest of the way. “I can’t do it” she said, tears falling down her face. “I’m not ready” sunlight hugged her. “It’s ok, stay as long as you need.” Midnight smiled and settled herself down on the snow beside her youngest siblings.

Twilight's ears slowly unflattened, and she nodded, nuzzling her sister gently, the shudder not getting past her notice. "I understand, and i agree with you" she said softly. As her nieces came racing over she took a step back, allowing them to greet them. Until suddenly, she looked at her, then specks, then raced back to their mother, getting welcomed by a hug, then settling down beside her. Twilight sighed gently. Well, so much for the whole sneaky sneaking away in the night idea. Specks would just have to be fine with this, because if he wasn't, she was taking custody of his fillie without hesitation. Immediately her gaze swung to him, eyes narrowing warningly.

Specks looked at twilight and flicked his ears in understanding. Midnight knew she had to go back eventually but she really didn’t know if she wanted to quite yet. Midnight sighed slightly and she closed her eyes, wishing sleep. Slowly, she fell asleep. When she woke up later on, it was snowing. Midnight stood up, and shook her pelt. She wanted to be with twilight, but the only way she could was if she left her mother. “Ok” she suddenly said. “I agree with you, I need to go back to my family now” sunlight nodded. Midnight hugged her mother before she left and then she made her way back to her family. She greeted twilight with a hug. “Dad would want me to come back by now” she said.

Twilight still glared at him, but relaxed slightly, lowering her head to graze while keeping an eye on the fillies. Once in a while she glanced over at Midnight, noticing she'd dropped off to sleep.
A few hours later, the snow was falling gently, and she'd taken shelter under a tree, dozing on her feet. The sound of hooves crunching in the snow alerted her and she raised her head, looking over with slight surprise as Midnight approached, then gave her a hug. Returning the hug, she smiled gently "I'm proud of you, and I know he is too" she said.

Midnight smiled and layed down under the tree beside her sister. "thanks" she nickered softly as she pressed up against Twilight for warmth. "I just wish specks didn't yell at me like that." she shuttered as her mate yelling at her came back into her mind. "If he ever does it again...I can't be his mate anymore. I can't be with a horse who yells at me and treats me the way he did." she said, looking at Twilight. "ya know what I mean?"

Twilight lay down as well, nuzzling her sister sympathetically. "That was very uncalled for on his part, and I definitely agree with you" she said firmly.

"But I don't know if I want to leave him, because we have two foals together and it would break my heart, you know that, and it would be hard on the girls too." Midnight sighed. "I know he didn't mean it thought, I think he just got annoyed or upset." she said. She gazed up at the sky as the snow began to fall harder. She neighed for Beauty, Stardust, and Specks. They came over and huddled under the tree beside Midnight. Specks was nuzzling Midnight and Midnight nuzzled him back. "See" she whispered to her sister. "He didn't mean what he said" she whispered again. "That's the first time he's ever done that, and I know he loves me"

Twilight nickered understandingly "Of course not, i would never want to leave Rusty! Although what he did was uncalled for and unthinkable, I really think you both should talk it over, tell him your feelings, and ask him if he has any underlying worries that made him lash out" she said, glancing up as snow began to fall. She watched Specks and the nieces come trotting over, then turned to whinny for her own family. Rusty and Nutmeg appeared out of the snow and lay down beside her, the stallion with his ears pinned in apology. She pinned her ears in return, glancing off into the snow with a sigh. "I'm sorry, but she hasn't seem him in a couple days, and they're all the way on the other side of the herd. They have shelter though, so I thought it would be ok to leave them there... but if you want i can go get her" he added hurriedly, looking worried and guilty. For a moment she considered it, then sighed and relaxed, shaking her head. "No, it's fine. I understand, i behaved much the same as a filly. I do want to get involved though" she said firmly, glancing at him. He unpinned his ears and nodded vigorously, then turned as Nutmeg snuggled into him. Twilight, hearing Midnight's whisper, turned to her and smiled "Of course he still loves you" she answered in a whisper.

"Mom" Stardust broke midnight and twilights conversation. Midnight looked over at her oldest daughter. "hm?" she said. "Can I go see Harley?" she asked. "I haven't seen him a while" Midnight sighed but nodded. "ok, just be careful!" she called. "I will!!" Stardust called back. Midnight watched as Beauty got up and snuggled in between both her parents. She nickered softly and nuzzled her youngest daughter. "If Nutmeg and Beauty are anything like I was, they will get jealous there sisters stop hanging out with them" Midnight said to Twilight

Twilight glanced over at Stardust and nuzzled Midnight gently in sympathy and understanding, then glanced at her own youngest. "Hmm I hope not" she murmured softly. "But if they are, we'll just have to distract them, and get Starlight and Nightlight to help us" she said with a slight smile.

Midnight glared at her sister. "are you saying that I annoyed you in those times?" she asked. "or all the times you talked about me behind my back with Rusty?? You were talking about how annoying I was" Midnight looked at specks and then back at Twilight. "yea, i remember all of that"

Twilight pinned her ears "Midnight, you know better than to put words in my mouth. I just was saying I hope not because it created tension between us as fillies, and i didn't want the same tension between them. I'm not still blaming you for anything, and I never talked behind your back to Rusty. Besides, that happened years ago!!!" she exclaimed, looking to Specks and Rusty for backup. Her sister, although matured, still had many sore spots, and obviously this was one of them.
