Starlight almost let out a breath of relief when her niece left. "I love that little ball of energy, I do, but she can be a lot of work sometimes." she said, turning back to Oreo to help her sort herbs. Oreo laughed. "Well she is quite the ball of energy isn't she?" Starlight nodded laughing.
Midnight sighed. "alright, I was getting kinda worried about you because after Specks and I left, you didn't follow me. You always do, and I couldn't see where you were while we laied here, so I guess I was just getting a little bit worried. But, you're back now, so we can hang out, because I have to tell you something Oreo told me a few days ago, its absolutely huge!" she said, not realizing her sister may not want to hang out with her and talk at that moment. "but if you have something else you want do to, I don't mind" she said, lying. Specks nuzzled Midnight slightly. "if you were with Rusty..you can go back over there with him and do whatever it was you were doing, you don't need to stay."

Twilight quickly moved closer and nuzzled her sister. "Oh, i'm sorry!! I just wanted to talk with Rusty for a few minutes" she said. "There's MORE big news??" she said curiously, scooching even closer. "Of course i want to hear it!! Rusty can wait for me. I do need to talk to Songbird and Buttermilk, but i definitely want to hear your news first!" she said.

"Well, its more like Oreo's news." she said. "Basically, Oreo told me that she's having a foal, but she thinks its find now because she has an apprentice. Her apprentice is Starlight. Can you believe it?" Midnight asked. "First, she's pregnant, then she takes on our sister as an apprentice!" Midnight said, almost laughing. "I honestly don't know what mom is going to do about it when she finds out. Oreo is breaking the herd code. She knew the code when she became the healer." Midnight sighed. "I don't know, if she wanted to have a family, then she shouldn't have become the herd healer to begin with. Anyways, thats all I really wanted to tell you." Midnight said. "I do think you should talk to Buttermilk and Songbird" Midnight added. I just wish you wouldn't do it now. Midnight thought to herself.

"WHAT?" Twilight exclaimed in shock of all this news. "That's crazy! Starlight didn't tell me!" she said with a happy smile for them both, but it clouded slightly. "Hmm yeah... I think Mom will be ok with it though.. right? I mean she understands the urge to have a family." she said, thinking back to the time Rusty had to make the decision to do one or the other. "Yes I should, but i can stick around for a bit. After all, Rusty's over there grazing now, and the other two are probably happy by themselves" she said. Besides, she needed a bit of time to digest all this new information.

Midnight nodded slightly, all of a sudden unsure of what her sister wanted to do. "Grazing sounds like a good idea" she said. Specks had found her a nice patch of grass to graze from. She walked over to it and bent her head to graze. Why was her mind whirling with thoughts. Midnight wondered. First, Twilight came over to see Midnight, which of course Midnight didn't mind, but she could see her sister wanted to talk with buttermilk. Finally, Midnight sighed. "Twily, if you want to talk with Buttermilk, I'm not stopping you" she said. "Besides, I kind of need to talk to Harley about the whole thing that happened earlier, when Stardust was sick and he just ran off and never returned. If I am going to let him be my daughters mate, I need to understand why he did what he did." Midnight said. She had started to trust Harley, but after what he did when Stardust was sick, Midnight wasn't so sure now.

Twilight nodded and began grazing, but her thoughts were elsewhere. When Midnight spoke she raised her head. "Are you sure?" she asked gently. "I can come with you instead if you want" she added.

"Its honestly up to you" Midnight said. "It would be a lot easier having you there, but if you need to talk to Buttermilk you can." half of her wanted Twilight to go with her, so why didn't she just say so. For one thing, Midnight didn't even know where Harley was, for another thing, what would she even say to him when she got there? She knew having Twilight with her would make everything so much easier. "Yea" she finally said. "can you come with me?" she asked

Twilight smiled "Of course I can sis. I can talk to Buttermilk anytime, you're way more important to me than him right now." She said, nuzzling her. "Now let's go find that young stallion."

Midnight smiled and returned her sisters nuzzle. Stardust looked up from her gazing and looked at her mother. "where ya goin mom?" she asked. Midnight looked at Twilight, unsure of what to say. "She's going to lay in a patch of sun" Specks said. Midnight shot Specks a great full look and she kept walking with Twilight. She saw Harley grazing a few feet away. She trotted up to him, Twilight beside her. "uh oh.." Harley muttered. "uh oh is right" Midnight said. "Midnight, Twilight" Harley dipped his head politely to the two sisters. Midnight glared at him. "So, Harley. Do you want to explain why you left when Stardust was sick?" Midnight asked. Harley pinned his ears. "I...uh..." he stuttered. Midnight glanced at her sister. Anger was starting to flare in Midnights eyes. "do you have an answer?" she demanded. Harley stood there silently, ears still pinned. "HARLEY! If you want to be with my daughter, you will give me an answer." she snapped.

Twilight trotted after Midnight, ears pinning slightly when she saw Harley. Not to judge, but he really seemed to be a weak, kinda flippant stallion. She stayed silent beside Midnight as her sister spoke, her voice getting louder and angrier with each word. Finally she snapped at him, and Twilight nudged her gently. "Let him answer" she said softly, but glaring at the stallion.

Midnight sighed but nodded. Harley looked at Midnight and finally, he spoke. "Because...I...well...I....I was scared that something bad could happen to her, so I left." he said. "but you didn't come looking for her later on. Why?" Midnight asked. "Because, I don't think she actually likes me. The other day I saw her nuzzling another male. He was a dark color, with a long mane and tail." Midnight realized that Harley had just described Nightlight. "That's my brother, Stardust's uncle. So, what, do you not want to be her mate or something?" Midnight finally asked. "I don't know" she admitted. "I guess I haven't thought about that" Midnight glared at him. "Well then, maybe you aren't the right stallion for my daughter"

Twilight frowned at Harley's responses to the questions. While it was mildly amusing that he'd thought Nightlight was just another male stallion, if he was that insecure, then he probably wasn't good for Stardust. Stepping forward, she looked at him hard. "Young stallion, you need to shape up. Get some confidence, and some stability. You're in a herd now, you aren't a rogue. You have to be accountable to others, and you have to be reliable for others, especially those that care for you" she said firmly.

Harley looked at her, his ears pinned back. "I'm sorry." he muttered. "I didn't know that. I'm still getting used to living in a herd, and yea, I know I have to care for the horses I love, but what if I just can't?" he asked.
Midnight smiled when her sister stepped up. At Harleys next question she glared at him. "if you can't care for a horse you love, then you will not be allowed to see my daughter." Harley looked like he wanted to protest, which he did eventually. "ok...I care about your daughter, I really do. Tell me what I have to do to get on your good side, and I'll do it." he said. Midnight nodded. "well for one thing, next time Stardust is sick, you stay by her side until she is feeling better." she said, harley nodded.

Twilight snorted and stepped back slightly, letting Midnight talk. Listening to the stallion, she felt a bit of pity for him, he didn't even know how to live in a herd! She was glad he was willing to change as well, and that Midnight was willing to let him try. Speaking up from beside Midnight, she added "And you have to get to know the entire family, not just Stardust.", glancing at Midnight to see if she agreed.

Midnight nodded in agreement. "yes" she said, "thats right. So that means Stardust's little sister, her cousins, aunts and uncles, and her parents." she said, making it perfectly clear she was talking about herself. "do you agree with those terms?" Midnight asked. Harley nodded. "oh, and one other thing, if Stardust wants to be left alone, or be with her family, you allow her to do that." Midnight added. Harley nodded again. "ok" he said. "I can do that" Midnight nodded and turned to leave. She looked at Twilight as they were walking. "was that ok?" she asked
