"NO! By the other herd Twi!" Midnight said to her sister as she laughed

"How is that possible?" Sundancer joked.

Rain looked at him. "I was helping you" She insisted

Twilight snorted "Well you said captured! IT got me confused" she said, tossing her mane. "But no, i don't think the other herd would capture our foals" she added. "I don't know what they're like, but ruminating on the worst possible outcomes isn't going to help us" she said firmly.

Fuego smiled "Well I found you, and you somehow seemed to like a guy like me, so i was the lucky one obviously" he said as he nuzzled her again.

Spirit snorted with soft laughter "Ah yes, quite helpful" he said sarcastically, then nuzzled her lovingly. "I know you love me, as you know I do" he said softly.

Rain snorted a bit. "Why did you have to bring that up?" She asked as she pinned her ears in sadness as memories of her days at the twoleggers farm came rushing back into her mind. She turned her head away and lay it down on the grass as she sighed a little bit sadly.

Midnight burst out laughing. "I didn't mean by the humans!" She said as she rolled her eyes lovingly to her sister. She gazed at her foal, "what if he gets lost?" she whispered.

Sundancer blushed big and she nuzzled him again. "How could I not fall for you?" She asked. "The way you came up to me, your speed, the way your mane flowed with the wind, your beauty" She said

Spirit's ears immediately flattened. He should have known better. It hurt him so much to see her sadness pull her under once again. And again guilt struck him. Had he done the right thing? He knew that she loved him or she could have never left in the first place, but had he truly done the right thing? Moving closer, he gently nuzzled her until she lifted her head, then shifted so her head would lay on his legs, putting his own head over her neck and nuzzling her, as they had been the night he thought she'd died. "I'm sorry my dear, I shouldn't have" He apologized softly.

Twilight snorted again in embarrassment, flicking her tail, then getting serious again. "There's so many of us around, I'm sure he couldn't" she said.

Fuego couldn't help ducking his head slightly at her soft words. "My beauty?" he asked, then nuzzled her. "You are the queen of beauty, you are the one who shone in the sun and captured my heart forever" he said lovingly.

Rain shook her head. "Its ok" She said to him. "I chose to be with you, because I love you. You saved my life Spirit...I almost drowned in that current and you saved me." She said nuzzling him lovingly. "I knew from the second I you came into my life. I knew I loved you" She said, nuzzling him. "I knew I loved you Spirit.....and so will our foal" Rain said, looking at him in the eyes to try and read his reaction.

Midnight nodded. "I'm tired" She admitted. "We should get some sleep" She said.

Sundancer blushed hard. "Well thank you, but I saw a fire in you that I fell in love with" She said

Spirit nuzzled her with a sigh of relief at her words. "I love you my darling Rain, of course, I would do anything for you" he said, his eyes serious. But her next words completely broke his countenance. His eyes widened, and his mouth opened slightly before he closed it, swallowing, then blinking. "Our... foal? Rain.. do you mean... you're.. we're.. you're pregnant?" he asked in an excited yet uncertain tone.

Twilight nodded "I agree" she said, laying her head down.

Fuego nuzzled her "I can see i'm not going to get the last word here am I?" he said, then laughed and nuzzled her forehead. "I love you my sundancing mare" he said.

Rain nodded. "yea" She said as she looked at her mate. "You're gonna be a father Spirit" Rain said, her eyes glowing with happiness. She pressed her muzzle against his and let herself lean into him. "Our foal" She said. "I....we should name it something that reminds us both of the twolegger who saved your life" Rain said to him.

Midnight snuggled against her sister and lay her head around Apollo lovingly. She felt her eyes drift close and within seconds she was asleep.

Sundancer shook her head and laughed, blushing hard at his next comment. "I love you more" She said as she lay her head on his back

Spirit's eyes widened and shone with joy and pride. "OH Rain!" he said, hugging her to him and nuzzling her. "A foal!" he said in awe. He could hardly believe it. Himself.. a father! "Yes, I agree, we must" he agreed with a nod as he tried to wrap his mind around this stupendous news. "When did you find out?" he asked, nuzzling her.

Twilight fell asleep easily, beside her sister and sister in law.

Fuego smiled and nuzzled her as he moved closer. He waited until she was asleep before gently nuzzling her again "I love you most" he whispered, then laid his head down and fell asleep as well.

"Two days ago" Rain said. "Everything was just so complicated a few days ago that it didn't feel right to tell you until now" Rain said, as she saw excitement in her mates eyes. "You're going to be a great father" Rain said as she nuzzled him lovingly. "I hope you know that, I have full faith that you will make the BEST father to our foal." She said, nuzzling him again as she snuggled against him. She sighed happily and then lay her head on his back so she could get some sleep. "I love you my handsome Spirit" She said

Spirit nuzzled her again, pressing his head to hers in love. "Oh Rain, thank you!" he said happily. "This is going to be our most worthy adventure" he said as she moved her head to his back and he nuzzled her again. "And you will be a most wonderful mother" he countered as he laid his head curled around her.

Rain smiled from where her head lay as she slowly drifted off to sleep.

Apollo awoke before his mother the next morning, and as he was turning into the curious little colt he stood up and shook himself before he gazed around. He saw a hill that seemed to have some amazing sunlight shining on the top of it...of course he didn't see the two horses sleeping side by side at the top of that hill, so he just took off and his small little canter and headed for the hill.

Rain was up and grazing at dawn the next morning, she flicked her tail back and forth as flies buzzed nosily around her. She snorted and then nuzzled her mate as he began to awaken. "good morning" Rain said softly

Spirit stayed awake a bit longer, his gaze looking out over the horizon where the mountains rose, the moon glinting off the peaks. A son or daughter... he would have to teach them all he knew, for if it were indeed a son, one day he would take over the herd. With a smile on his face, Spirit settled himself and closed his eyes.

The next morning he awoke a little after his mate, having stayed awake a bit too long last night. Lifting his head and shaking out his mane, he hoisted himself to his hooves, giving a big shake, then nuzzling his mate. "Good morning" he responded, nuzzling her lovingly, then glancing at her belly with a smile. For a moment he'd wondered if he'd been dreaming, but the gleam in Rain's eyes told him otherwise.

"No, you wernt dreaming" Rain said. "You're really going to be a father" Rain said nuzzling him, when suddenly a small voice piped up. "Hi!" Apollo said. Rain jumped and turned, blinking at the little foal. "uh....hi" Rain said. "Who are you?" Apollo asked. "I'm Rain, and this is Spirit." Rain said. "I'm Apollo!" Apollo said cheerfully. "Are you all alone Apollo?" Rain asked. "No, my mama is down there" He said pointing to the other herd. "Spirit, he's with the other herd" Rain whispered.

Midnight yawned and woke the next morning. "Morning Apollo." She said, looking down at her side. She froze. "Apollo?" Midnight looked up and her heart rate quickened. She couldn't see her son anywhere. "Twi!" Midnight said, shaking her sister. "Apollo's gone"

Spirit smiled and nuzzled her again, then whirled around, ears flattening as he heard a small voice he didn't know. He almost immediately relaxed however at the sight of the small colt staring up at them with large eyes. He frowned, letting his mate talk to the little foal. At the colt's proclamation he looked over his frown intensifying. That wasn't good. "We must return him immediately, before harm is done" he said urgently, then turned to the foal. "You should not wander so far from your herd. Come, we will take you back" he said firmly. But before they could leave he had to let his mother know. Turning, he trotted to the top of the rise and nickered in a low tone for his mother.

Twilight woke up as she felt a violent shaking, looking around and yawning. "What?" She asked as she heard her sister, immediately totally waking up. "Where is he?" she asked, getting to her hooves and looking around.

"I....I don't know!" Midnight said. "I woke up and he was gone!" She said, turning and looking around wildly. "Twilight, where's my colt!" She said eyes glazed with worry.

"Your mama must be worried sick" Rain said as her mate called for his mother. "She was sleeping" Apollo said simply. "What gave you the idea to come over here?" Rain asked. "I saw the nice grass, and it was all sunny and pretty, so I thought I would lay in it!" Apollo said cheerfully, not really seeing any harm in what he was doing at all whatsoever.

Esperanza lifted her head and trotted to her sons call. She saw the colt and frowned. "Who's that little one?" She asked. "I'm Apollo!" Apollo said to the other mare. "Hi, where did he come from?" Esperanza asked her son as Rain talked to the colt
