Midnight could hear what the lead mare and stallion were saying. "I'll have my little sister check her out" Midnight spoke up. Rain turned to look at her. "are you sure?" Rain asked. Midnight nodded. "Yea, we're on your land, and its the least I could do for snapping at you guys, and I promise won't say a word." Midnight said. "She's loyal to her work, she keeps secrets when she has to." She looked to Spirit. "If you wait here, I can get her" She said

Spirit spun, ears flattening. He didn't appreciate being followed when he'd told the herd to stay awake. He remained stiff as he watched the mare, hesitating. "Just this once" he allowed, glancing at his mate. He needed to be assured she was ok, but this herd was not one he was familiar with, and he was not letting his guard down.

"I'll be right back, I promise" Midnight said. Of course to reach Starlight she had to pass Twilight. It didn't matter. Midnight raced off towards her little sister. When she reached her she nudged her. "Psst" Midnight whispered. Starlight blinked. "hmm?" she asked. "Come with me, but don't say a word." Midnight said. "ok" Starlight said, standing up and following after her older sister. When they reached Spirit and Rain, she tensed. "Mid" She whispered. "Its ok, Rain, the pinto, is pregnant, I just want you to make sure everything's ok with their foal" Midnight said. Starlight grumbled a little bit and she sighed. "fine" she said through gritted teeth. "Lay down please" Starlight said. Rain nodded and lay herself down. "May I touch your mate's belly?" She asked Spirit

Spirit gave a tense nod, watching her run off.

Twilight looked up as her sister raced past, a frown appearing on her face. She kept her eyes on the direction her sister had gone, and all too soon, she went racing past... with Starlight. Immediately, her suspicions were confirmed. Something was wrong.. or at least up. She got to her hooves and trotted after them quietly.

Spirit watched sternly as the two mares trotted up, the younger one looking unsure. He frowned slightly as she stepped forward, touching his nose to his mates as she lay down. Immediately he stepped over her protectively. "I'll allow it" he said after a tense moment.

Rain looked up at her mate with anxiety in her blue eyes. She didn't fully trust this mare but she would allow it. Starlight placed her tail gently over the mares back and moved it and forth a while until she felt the foal's movement. "Returning my nephew to my sister did not cause your foal any harm" Starlight promised. "You don't have to worry" She added. Rain nodded. "Thank you" She said. Starlight nodded. "there" She said to midnight. "can we go now?" she asked. Midnight chuckled but nodded as Rain stood up and trotted back to their herd. Midnight froze as she saw Twilight. Great.

Spirit watched intently, then let out a slight sigh of relief, but didn't move any further back, waiting for his mate to get up, and making sure she began moving first before he did. He paused before leaving, turned, and gave a nod "My thanks" he said, then cantered after his mate. Something about that herd just set him on edge. It was almost... he couldn't quite grasp it. But he felt that where they went, chaos was sure to ensue.

Twilight watched from the treeline, her gaze dark. Her sister had gone after those two, behind her back. When they were gone, she stepped out, staring at her sister. "Would you like to explain this Mid?" She asked.

Rain looked at her mate. "Glad we have some peace of mind?" She asked him. "I know I am, I'm feeling a lot better about this now." She admitted.

Midnight felt her ears flatten. "I..." She stuttered looking at Starlight and telling her to go. Starlight raced off as Midnight stared at her older sister. Her tail swished back and forth nervously. "I...I...um...well....I...." She stuttered again

Spirit gave a small nod "Yes, yes, I am, i too am relieved" he admitted with a sigh, swishing his tail to dispense the tense energy he'd felt moments before. "Come, let's go greet our herd together" he said with a smile.

Twilight simply raised an eye more, flattening one ear questioningly. "Well?" she asked.

Midnight sighed. “I could tell they were worried about their unborn foal so I had Starlight check her out” midnight said. “Is that a problem?” She asked.

Twilight frowned "I'm sure they have their own healer, we shouldn't have gotten involved unless they asked us to" she said quietly.

[Abbster]

“Whatever” Midnight grumbled. “I was being nice.” She said. “Why can’t you just see that?” She asked.

Rain nuzzled her mate as they reached their herd. She watched the foals we’re playing around together. She smiled. “That will be us soon” she said.

Twilight was even more confused "One minute you accuse me of siding with them, and the next you want to be nice to them?" she asked swishing her tail and frowning. IT hurt that her sister would do that to her.

Spirit sped to a canter when they reached the hilltop, sliding to a halt and tossing his head, letting out a whinny of greeting. The herd all looked up and answered joyfully, some rearing, the foals cavorting about. He smiled fondly as he watched them, then glanced over to his mate. "Yes, soon. What do you think it will be?" he asked, eyes shining.

Midnight felt tears fill her eyes. “I’m sorry” she whispered. “I’ll stay with Fireball, you go spend the morning with Rusty and your foals.” Midnight muttered as she turned and walked back to Fireballs side with her tail drooped a little bit and her ears flat against her head in sadness and guilt.

Rain looked at her mate. “I don’t care, as long as it’s healtty” she said.

Twilight sighed. That wasn't what she'd wanted. She just wanted her sister to be truthful with her! With a shake of her head she trotted after her sister.

Spirit looked over and pressed his forehead to hers for a moment lovingly. "I agree" he said softly, then looked back out over the herd. A sudden screeching cry echoed over the hills and he turned his heads to the skies, whinnying a greeting to the creature that had guided him homewards. The dark feathered eagle swooped above the two and wheeled, letting out a cry again as it watched them. Spirit tossed his mane and reared, whinnying again as he pawed the air. The sound of the wild always filled him with a sense of freedom.

Rain smiled and gazed up at the Eagle. She to reared beside her mate, neighing loudly. She put her front hooves back down on the ground as her mate continued rearing. She smiled. That Eagle always swooped by to say good morning or good night. She sighed and then lay down on the grad as exhaustion suddenly filled her.

Midnight felt a tear fall down her face and she sniffled.
