Spirit wheeled to follow the eagle as he reared, turning a full circle before thudding back to the earth, tossing his mane again, his heart pounding with joy at this life he had. Then he looked over, and saw his mate, just as the eagle let out a slightly alarmed screech. "Rain?" he asked as he quickly stepped to her, nuzzling her, the vision flashing unbidden to his eyes of her laying helpless, a dark wound on her shoulder, by the shores of a waterfall.

Twilight cantered to her sister and silently lay down beside her and hugged her. "Oh sis, i'm sorry i was harsh... it's just.. so much happening, we have to stick together. If we don't, we can't do it" she said.

Rain looked at her mate as he lay down beside her. “I just got exhausted suddenly.” She said. “It’s probably because I’m pregnant.” She said. “I’ll be ok” she said. “Just wasn’t expecting exhaustion to hit me like that” she said as Esperanza suddenly came galloping over the hill. “Spirit, I heard the Eagle. Is everything ok?” She asked. Rain looked up as her mother in law came up. “Exhaustion from my pregnancy just hit me.” She said. Esperanza nuzzled her. “It’s ok, it takes a bit to get used to” she said looking at her colt with a chuckle.

Midnight looked at her sister. “I’m sorry….I just wanted to help them” she whispered.

Spirit still looked worried. Was it normal? He was about to ask, when his mother cantered up to them, slowing as she reached them. He relaxed slightly, then started with a small indignant sound of surprise. "Wait, Mother, you knew?" he asked, glancing from one to the other.

Twilight nuzzled her "I just.. i'm confused because you seemed to really not like them just a few minutes before, and then you went to help them" she explained.

“I…I needed her to help me figure it out.” Rain said. Esperanza nodded. “I promised I wouldn’t tell you” Esperanza said to her son. “I promise though that it’s normal” she added before going back to her grazing spot. Rain leaned into Spirit. “You don’t need to worry” she whispered.

Midnight sighed. “Twi…I thought they took my colt” she said.

Spirit snorted slightly, but smiled and nodded "I understand" he said, then nuzzled his mate again. "It doesn't mean I won't" he replied just as softly.

Twilight nuzzled her "I know you did, but after you got him back, when they assured you, why were you still so bitter about them asking about the sickness?" she asked, just trying to understand.

Rain nodded. “That’s true.” She said. She pressed her muzzle against Spirit. “Spirit…I want our foal to be as bright as you.” She said, smiling.

Midnight sighed. “Because….they didn’t have the right to know. It’s hard for me to talk about it when three members of my family have this sickness.” Midnight said. “Twi, I’m sorry” she said.

Spirit smiled "And i want it to have your beauty" he countered.

Twilight nuzzled her "They're my family too" she said softly, then nodded "I know, I understand. It's a hard time" she said.

Rain blushed. “I think I should stop waking up at dawn” she admitted. “I’m so tired.” Rain whispered to her mate.

Midnight looked at her sister. “Twilight….I didn’t mean it like that” she whispered.

Spirit nuzzled her again "Of course my dear, you must get more sleep" he agreed wholeheartedly.

Twilight nodded "I know you didn't sis, it's ok" she said, hugging her.

Rain chuckled. “Please don’t worry about me” Rain said. “I’m ok….I’m just….” She sighed. “Spirit…I’m nervous” she admitted.

Midnight pressed into her sister. “I’m so sorry” she said.

Spirit raised an expressive eye as she said it, then nuzzled her with a soft look as she admitted she was scared. "I know, it's so new for both of us, but you'll do amazing, and I will be right here for you" he promised.

Twilight hugged her again "It's ok sis, I understand."

Rain smiled. “Oh Spirit. I don’t think I could do this without you” she said. “What do you think about Feather?” Rain suddenly asked. “My twolegger used to keep a feather in my mane…how does feather sound for the foals name?” She asked.

Midnight hugged her sister hard. “I…I need to go to Apollo” she admitted.

Spirit nuzzled her from where he stood, then smiled softly. He remembered that feather. He'd never truly understood the significance, but seeing any feather on the ground always did remind him of Little Creek. He nodded "That sounds like the perfect name" he agreed softly.

Twilight nodded "I understand sis, I'll stay, you go" she said.

Midnight looked at her sister. “Are you sure?” Midnight asked. “After our little…spat” she muttered.

Rain smiled. “I think it’s perfect” she said as she snuggled against him. “I love you” she whispered as her eyes closed.

Twilight smiled "It's ok sis, i promise, it wasn't a spat" She said with a nuzzle.

Spirit smiled and lay down so she could move closer to him, nuzzling her as she rested her head against him. "I love you Rain" he whispered back to her.
