Rain blushed hard as her head rested on her favorite spot. Feeling him pressed into her made her fall asleep slowly.
“But i feel like I should be here.” Midnight said. “I just need to be with my colt..” she broke off.

Spirit nuzzled her as she drifted off to sleep, lifting his head as he felt her totally relax. The wind brushed through his mane as he lay beside her, watching for danger over the herd.

Rain felt her mates tail swish across her back and forth. After a little while, Rain awoke once more. “Hey” she said to her mate softly

Spirit looked over and nuzzled her "Sleep well?" he queried as he shifted to a more comfortable position for her.

Rain nodded. “I did.” She said. “Were you beside me the entire time?” She asked.
Midnight looked at Twilight. “Twilight. You didn’t answer me. What should I do?” She asked.

Spirit nuzzled her "Of course I was" he said softly.
Twilight nuzzled her "Yes, of course you need to go to him sis" She said understandingly.

Rain blushed hard. "Oh Spirit" She whispered nuzzling him as a small foal whinnied playfully down below.
Midnight nuzzled her sister. "I'll bring him back" She promised as she stood up and galloped to her colt

Spirit smiled then looked out over the herd once again at the sound of the foal. His instincts kept him constantly on the watch. "Would you like to head down to the river with me, get some water?" he queried as he turned back to her.
Twilight smiled "Ok" she said.

“I would love that” Rain said with a bright smiled. She stood up and shook herself and then nuzzled her mate lovingly. “I’m ready to go whenever you are” she said.

Spirit smiled and heaved himself to his hooves, tossing his mane then turning his head to nuzzle his mate in return. "I imagine much of the herd will be making their way to the river at this time as well, so I am ready now" he said, glancing out over the herd. As he had expected, many of the stallions on patrol were heading to the river for water, switching their guards to the other stallions who had slept through the night. With another toss of his mane and an eager nicker he spun and headed for the slope of the hill, slowing his canter as he hit the ridge, picking up his hooves to make his way down, then glancing back for his mate.

Rain trotted after her mate, not wanting to overdo everything with being pregnant and all. She managed to catch up to her mate though. “Sorry, just don’t want to overdo everything.” Rain said,
Midnight returned back to her sister with her colt and she lay down with him beside her sister. “Hey” she said.

Spirit smiled and briefly reached his nose out to her "Of course, no need to apologize" he said softly, keeping his pace slow for her as they headed after the stallions.
Twilight smiled "Hey yourself" she said with nuzzle.

Midnight chuckled. "Specks gave Apollo a very stern talking to" Midnight said as Apollo was pressed against his mother.
Rain smiled and followed after her mate.

Twilight gave a slight smile of sympathy and yet agreeance to the foal. "Well wandering off is very dangerous" she said with a nod.
Spirit looked back as he trotted towards the river, herd members raising their heads as he passed, nickering and tossing their heads in joyful greeting. It filled his heart to see their greetings and meet them with his own. The twins, Coal and Smoke, suddenly flashed past him on either side, slowing slightly and dipping their heads moderately to him before speeding off in a dust cloud, racing and cavorting. Those two just hadn't grown up.. and yet why should they? Their home was freedom and the wild itself, and safe as any could be.

Midnight chuckled. "Especially when it involves wandering to the other herd" Midnight added as she looked at her colt who was still pressed against his mother.
Coal rushed past Spirit and then nudged his brother in the nose hard before he dipped his head respectfully to the lead stallion before racing off in a cloud of dust again. "COAL, SMOKE!" Tornado called. "Slow down you two, its not a race!" Tornado said. "Everything's a race!" Coal said as he began to gain speed. Tornado glanced at his mate and then back to their twins.
Rain chuckled. "Those two have so much energy, and yet they're two and a half years old." She said. "They act like little colts" She admitted
