Name: Makta Age: 21 Gender: Female Appearance: img.artpal.com/729972/10-23-5-7-10-45-52m.jpg(She stands at 19 feet tall, and weighs 14.7 lbs) Species: Tyrannosaurus Rex Backstory: Makta was the leader of her terror (pack, herd), as the largest female. She was ferocious, leading her terror on many successful hunts. Until.. The Great Death. It swept through her terror, and only she, as the strongest, was able to escape, and not without scars. Her right eye is half blind now, and that side of her face is deeply scarred. Personality: Makta is a rather unemotional seeming reptile, stomping across the land without pausing for any beast. And why should she? As one of the largest and tallest of her species she has no predators, at least not animal. Humans though, are a threat. And she hates them. She is a ferocious beast, and is friend to none. She has no problem with eating any other dinosaur, but she never kills for pleasure. She still has some morales, after all. She also tends to avoid nesting grounds, as she realizes the importance of continuing life, and respects that. Eggs are still sacred to her, as each egg hatches a new birth, and each deserves at least a bit of life before death. She knows she'll probably end up eating them later, but figures she should give them a bit of life first. Other:

Storm quietly stalked through the lush tropical plants, eyes focused on the oblivious triceratops herd. She had been stalking them for close to an hour now and after careful observations had singled out her target. She had really lucked out this time. Her sharp eyes focused on one in particular, its scales dull with age and a long gash in its side where some kind of accident had marred it. Her eyes gleamed as its head turned away from her and she leaped out of hiding, aiming straight for its back. At the sudden movement the elderly dinosaur flinched away and tries to run but she was already on its back, digging her claws into its tough hide and snaking her head around to latch onto the back of its neck, right behind the large frill branching out from the back of its head. The smell of blood and the pained bellows coming from her prey spooked the rest of the herd, and in a panic the rest of them bolted. Her prey also tried to run but after a few steps it stumbled and fell to its knees. She rolled off of its back and took the opportunity to latch onto its throat. After a few more minutes of struggling it finally drew its last breath and didn’t move anymore. Once she was sure it was dead she released it from her grasp and quickly started tearing into it, stuffing herself as much as she could. She was starving and her ribs were showing. She hadn’t left her nest for the past few weeks, and it was usually the job of the mate to bring food back, but she didn’t have one anymore. Her movements were sharp and she was constantly looking around, knowing that the scent of blood was likely to attract others. As soon as she was full she tore off a large chunk, and took off back into the trees, leaving the other half. She darted through the undergrowth, running as fast as she could in the direction of her nest. She hadn’t left it for so long, but now it was absolutely necessary. She knew they would be hatching tomorrow, she had felt the hatchlings inside of the three perfect eggs start to move around and could hear their chirps from within the shells. When they hatched they would need food, which was the reason she had left for such a risky mission. As she neared the large tree she slowed down and stopped, sniffing the air and cautiously examining her surroundings before darting into the shallow den underneath the roots. The worry that had been urging her on for the entire time away dissipated with a sigh of relief as she saw the three smooth shells sitting in her nest, safe and sound. She set the chunk of food down next to the nest and curled up around the eggs, gently nuzzling them and rumbling to them happily.

Makta strode over the land, her heavy claws leaving deep marks in the ground far beneath her as she headed for the grazing grounds. Her left eye's golden gaze swept over the landscape as she thundered by, searching. She was on the hunt, and nearing the grazing grounds. Slowing her pace she straightened slightly to gaze over the treetops, her tongue sliding over her devastating teeth hungrily. Off in the distance she could smell what seemed to be triceratops. Narrowing her eyes she focused hard, her blurry right eye managing to focus enough for her to make out the herd, peacefully grazing. The perfect target. A couple of those should keep her full until the next hunt. Ducking her head back down she weaved through the forest, growling in anger as she had to squeeze herself through gaps in the trees. How she hated moving through the forests. Not only was it uncomfortable, but it also tended to give herself away to any creature that had not already felt her earth shaking footsteps. Finally emerging from the forest, she shook herself heavily, her tail unintentionally slamming into a tree. A crack sounded behind her, and she glanced over, snorting as the weak tree tilted, then fell to the ground with a heavy thud. Good riddance. Turning back to the task at hand she prepared herself to chase down her most likely already startled prey, her strong muscles bunching in her hindquarters. But when she focused her gaze, the triceratops were no longer even in the field! She growled in anger, scenting the air deeply. The incense of blood struck her nostrils and a deathly grin spread over her muzzle, before freezing. Raptor. So that's what had caused the herd to panic before she got there. She snarled to herself in frustration, then continued onwards, heading towards the scent of death. Stomping heavily through the field she reached the half eaten vegetarian, hooking one of it's mangled front legs in her teeth and flipping it upwards. With a clash her jaws closed, the meat quickly sliding down her throat. She rumbled again, displeased. That didn't even half fill her. It seemed she would have to journey to the watering hole instead. But before that... stretching her neck down, her thick tail balancing her, she observed the tracks where the body had lain. Hmmm they seemed to lead off into the forest, and in quite a hurry as well. Then she snorted dismissively, the force of it blowing the tracks away. A single raptor wasn't worth traversing the forest for, plus it would hardly satisfying her hunger. But, it couldn't hurt to establish this area as HER territory. Raising her head to the sky she took a deep breath, feeling the rumble travel from her chest to her throat and she let out a tree-shaking bugling roar, reveling in the power and adrenaline it gave her.

Storm lifted her head with a jerk from where she laid, curled around her eggs. In the distance she heard a deep thunderous roar that she easily recognized as one of the largest predators around, a Tyrannosaurus Rex. It sounded rather large too, she would have to be more careful when she ventured out. It sounded like it had come from the area she had made her kill and she figured there would probauly not be anything left for her to find later. She growled at the thought, her gaze turning back to her eggs. Once they hatched she would have to move her nest somewhere else, which was rather dissapointing. This area was a good area, there was plenty of prey, good temperatures, and a nice water hole not far, but it wasn't worth being so near a tyrannosaurus.

Makta closed her jaws, straightening up with pride as the entire area went silent after her roar, none wanting to catch her attention. Letting out a low rumble of pleasure she turned and thrust herself forward into a lope, her haunches bunching underneath her as she thundered over the terrain, heading for the watering hole. It was time for a REAL meal. She was within half a mile of it when she slowed to a walk. She had to to get through the thick underbrush that was tangling around her legs anyway. Straightening once more and settling her weight on her back legs and tail she raised her head, narrowing her focus as she tried to make out what creatures were peacefully drinking at the watering hole. Her tail lashed slightly as her vision fuzzed and wobbled, finally having to resort to closing her right eye. With slightly better vision she was able to make out a herd of Iguanodon gathering. She growled hungrily in her throat, salivating slightly in anticipation of the warm blood that would doubtless be staining her muzzle soon. Ducking back down she waited a moment, bunching her muscles, then leapt forward crashing through the brush and emerging onto a panicking shoreline. Ignoring the smaller Compsognathus scattering before her feet and narrowing her focus on a fully grown adult Iguanodon. The herd split and ran, dust filling the clearing as they stampeded. But she was took quick for her prey. Thundering down on them she slammed her shoulder into her target, knocking him off balance before plunging her jaws down, her sharp teeth fastening on the herbivore's neck. Taking hold she jerked her head, it's neck snapping swiftly. Dropping the limp body she lifted her gaze to the surrounding area, golden eye narrowed as she looked around for possible threats. Not that there were really many, but i was always good to be careful. As expected, the area was vacant of any life form, the only sign they had been there the dust billowing from the ground, and the carcass at her feet. Letting out a satisfied rumble, she snaked her head down, teeth ripping and tearing at the fresh meat as she satisfied her hunger.

Storm curled herself tightly around the mossy nest, keeping a watchful eye on the entrance to her den. The loud roar in the distance had put her on edge, and she sniffed the air often for any signs of danger. A low growl rumbled in her throat and she raised her head with a furious glare. She uncurled herself from the nest and heard the sound of leaves rustling nearby. She stalked low to the ground and snarled loudly in warning as a smaller raptors head popped out of the bushes. It was a green utahraptor and about a quarter of her size. "Leave now, or you will regret it!" She hissed, a furious glare focused on the dinosaur. He grinned and growled at her. "Hah! You couldn't catch up to a long neck if it had no legs!" He taunted and with a angry snarl she lunged at him, her jaws snapping shut on empty air as he darted away. There was another flash of movement and she felt a panic over take her as she whirled around to see a second one had darted into her den. With a furious screech she whirled around and leaped into the den right as the second utahraptor wrapped its jaws around one of her eggs and clamped its jaws shut.

Makta lazily snapped up another strip of meat, the carcass that had been lying before her now reduced to a skeleton. Licking her jaws she raised her head and stretched, leaning back down to nose the bones, searching for more meat. A few more bits were still hanging on and she ripped them off, chomping them slowly. The sounds of the wildlife had returned while she had fed, and there was almost a peaceful aura in the field, quite a contrast to the panic just a few minutes before. She leaned down once again and sniffed the bones, then suddenly picked up her large foot and stomped on the remains, reducing them to smithereens and blending it into the landscape. She snorted in approval of her own actions, then turned to the lake, slurping up large drafts of the cool liquid, her bloody muzzle quickly staining the surrounding water. Quite the satisfying hunt, which would last her for at least a few hours. But she was far from over her travels. She still had quite a large area of territory to survey before the next hunt. Stretching she glared out over the terrain, her vision blurring slightly as the sun glinted through a gap in the clouds. A snarl escaped her throat and she shook her head, frustrated at her lack of accuracy, then she stilled herself again. Hmm so yes, lots of territory, but which way to start? She could always back track, make sure no carnivores were following her tracks, searching for remains... her tail twitched as she balanced herself, turning to face the direction she'd come from earlier. Yes, that was the best plan. With a low growl she pushed herself forward, her strong legs picking up speed as she skirted the underbrush around the lake and headed back into the open fields, towards the distant forest.

Storm screeched with pure rage and before the second utahraptor could react she sank her fangs into its neck and shook it as hard as she could. There was a loud snap and she felt the ceature fall limp in her jaws. Her harsh glare was filled with rage and pain as she spat out the small raptor as she snarled at the 1st one. It seemed startled and cried out as it saw the one she had killed. It turned to run but she was already lunging at it and snapped her jaws on the end of its tail, swinging her head and hurling it into the tree that housed her den underneath. It was stunned and tried to stumble away but Storm's vision was red and after a few more minutes of struggling it fell to the ground and didn't move again. Storm panted with exhertion but as she stepped away her mind flashed back to her eggs and she felt her heart start pounding louder and louder as she walked back into her den. She wailed in anguish at the crushed shell of the egg the raptor had broken, feeling her gut clench in despair as she saw the mangled form of a small creature that within a few days would have been one of her perfect hatchlings. She keened loudly, and desparately tried to nudge it and force it to come back to life, but it was too late.

(btw, if you ever want my character to follow up on something, just lemme know! Like if u want her to hear something, or smell something... you know)
Makta thundered over the prairie scenting the air now and then and scanning the plains with her good eye. So far so good, no interlopers attempting to settle or hunt on her territory. Ducking her head she smashed through a small copse of trees, flattening one or two as she passed. If she had it her way she'd just completely do away with forests and all that, but it would be quite a large amount of uselessly hard work to flatten all those trees. Suddenly a scent wafted through the air and she slammed to a halt, her claws digging into the dirt as dust billowed around her. She snarled, eye flashing as she whipped her head around, searching for the owner of the hated scent. A dark form on the horizon caught her attention as she raised her head, letting out a thundering angry bugle before charging. The shape grew larger as it obviously noticed her and was racing towards her. A few more strides and she could make out the form of the young Mapusaurus. It was only a few inches shorter than her, but looking at it's unscarred hide it didn't seem to have much experience. Letting out an angry roar she pushed herself forward, huge jaws reaching forward and connecting with it's neck as they crashed together. The younger bipedal dinosaur roared, it's teeth scissoring as it tried to get close enough to reach her neck. Her own teeth were clenched on the back of it's neck, and she twisted her head, forcing the Mapusuaurus to stumble. But this young one was not giving up that easy. With a surprisingly powerful thrust of it's back legs it shot forward, releasing itself from her jaws and smashing into her throat. She roared in anger, her tail whipping around behind her and pummeling the other's body as she regained her balance. The young dinosaur, thinking he had the upper hand, charged her again, jaws wide open as he obviously aimed for her throat. She widened her stance, waiting for him, muscles bunching. And then she leapt to the side, whipping her head out jaws wide open as he plowed into her sharp deadly teeth. With a growl she snapped her mouth shut, tasting blood as she severed his softer throat. He let out an ungainly squeal, uselessly scraping at her with his stubby arms. With a vicious twist of her head she off balanced him and slammed him to the ground, jaws slowly tightening around his life vein. He thumped around, tail waving wildly and legs kicking. Once or twice they'd managed to connect with her body, but he was already too far gone to have much power behind them. One more powerful snap of her teeth and he flopped over limply, nerves and muscles twitching slightly as she raised her muzzle golden eye glaring down at her defeated enemy. Raising her claw she stomped down on the body, raising her head and bugling her triumph the sky. No one would ever take this territory from her, and if they tried, they would perish just as this one had.

(Okay, sounds good Storm heartbrokenly picked up the shattered egg and the mangled body of her hatchling, feeling her chest ache with pain. She had lost one of the only things Gale had left her, one of the eggs she had been taking care of for weeks now and had been so close to hatching. With a heavy heart she gently carried it outside and with a few scraps of her leg dug a hole to bury her hatchling. With it in the ground she turned and went back to the rest of her eggs, a fiery determination mixed with anger and guilt as she knew nothing would ever happen to her other eggs. She would die before letting any of them be harmed. With a tired sigh she curled up around her nest once more, but sleep was no longer an option.

Makta leaned down and clamped her jaws onto the neck of the carcass, jerking her head to start it's motion as she began dragging it to the field she frequented the most. Waste not want not, and besides, she didn't want to attract even more carnivores to her territory. It took a little bit longer than usual, as the carcass was difficult to maneuver through the underbrush and trees, but finally she arrived her at the field. It was a large open, grassy place, with a river running through it. The perfect habitat. Tossing the dead dinosaur beside a rock pile, she slowly walked over to the river, her claws sending the water even higher up the bank as she entered the cool water. The river itself wasn't that deep, but she could at least get her legs and tail wet, and if she wanted the whole rigamaroll of it, she could lay down. Instead, she chose to stomp her foot deep into the water, sending up a large splash that sprinkled over her back, and over the few wounds that she had gotten in the fight. None of them were at all life threatening, or even worrisome, and after a few minutes she stopped, leaning down to suck in some of the clear, cool liquid. Fully refreshed, she pulled herself out of the river, shaking her body before tramping to the apex of the hill and looking out over her territory, the sun drying her quickly. Life was perfect. Or as perfect as it could be since the strange small two leggers. Her eye darkened and she snarled softly to herself at the memory.

Storm shifted to a more comfortable position as her thoughts wandered. She was going over all the things that she would have to do in the future, and she couldn't help but feel a sinking feeling in her stomach. It would be a daunting task to take care of two hatchlings by herself. She would have to feed them, protect them, and move soon because of the annoying tyrannosaurous she had heard earlier. How could she hunt for them and protect them? Usually the female stayed and protected the hatchlings while the male hunted for them, and her heart panged as she thought of the loss of her mate, Gale. He had been worth leaving her pack for, and she had felt a little sad by leaving them, but it had been worth it to have Gale. Yet merely a week after they had left he had sacrificed himself to save her, pushing her out of the way of a carnotaurus. All she had left of him was in these eggs, and she had already lost one. She curled herself more tightly around them as the sun slowly started setting in the sky. She forced herself to stop focusing on those negative thoughts, she didn't know how but she would protect these hatchlings and they would survive no matter what.

Makta's tail thrashed behind her as memories flooded back, that horrible day when the strange bi-pedal humans had attacked her terror with their uncanny fire and rock blasters, decimating her herd in mere minutes. The echo of their dying bellows still rang in her ears on silent evenings like this, the sun descending in a fiery ball, much like the ones that had blasted through their territory. Her vision clouded over, replaced by the horrendous massacre scene, the panic, the chaos as each tried to run, to escape. Somehow, she, although hit directly in the eye, had managed to escape, but she was the only one. When she'd ventured to return, all she'd found were skeletons and ashes, the remainders of a proud terror that had ruled the land. And now it was just her. Her vision cleared to the present, a strange contrast to the calm evening silence, broken slightly by the honking of a distant flight of Vegavis Iaai. She shook herself slightly, burying the memory deeply once more as the sun disappeared over the horizon, turning the sky a gorgeous shade of purple, but she wasn't looking. Stomping back to the carcass, she dragged it near a large circle of rocks, dumping it just inside the ring. Stomping in a circle, she laid down with a thud, curling her thick tail around herself as she looked up at the rapidly appearing stars. With clear skies that night, maybe she could avoid nightmares this time. Maybe.
