Lauren could not say anything as she looked at her brother. She wondered if her grandparents knew what was going on as she grabbed her phone from her purse to call her grandparents. She stepped out of the room so that she could speak privately with her grandparents before returning to the room a few minutes later. She then sat down in the chair across from Chloe as she reached over and grabbed Austin's hand again. It would be a while before their grandparents arrived at the hospital. Looking at Chloe, she forced herself to smile. "I think he would like that. I just wish I knew how long it is going to take him to wake up."

“I told you, I’m not leaving until he does” Chloe said. “I don’t care, I’ll set up the pull out bed and sleep here. I’m not leaving until he wakes up” Chloe said, crying slightly. “Austin. Please” she said. She stood up. “I can’t do this right now” she said. “I’m sorry” she left the room and began crying. First her dad, and now her “boyfriend”. If he died…what would Chloe do? Austin didn’t know this, no one but Molly knew this, but Chloe was certain she was going to marry him, but she didn’t know if that would ever happen now..what if he never woke up. Chloe walked back into the room. “Sorry” Chloe said, sitting down. “Austin doesn’t know this, but….I….I’m certain I’m going to marry him. Don’t tell him. Please. Im still really worried about him.” She said.

Lauren nodded as she looked at her brother. "I was hoping that he would settle down soon. When I heard that he had met you, I was skeptical that it was going to last more than a week. Knowing my brother as a ladies man, I knew that sometimes he would have one night stands while he was gone. I mean, look at him. He is handsome and has an amazing career as a pilot," Lauren said. "But he see's something in you, Chloe. He really does. What that is, I am not sure. Only Austin knows. I know that he has not called you his girlfriend yet. But I see it in his eyes when he looks at you."

Chloe blushed slightly. "I see something in him too." Chloe said. "Lauren, if you need to go home at all while he's like this, I can stay with him and I'll let you know when he wakes up." Chloe promised, moving Austin's hair away from his eyes. She saw the gash on his face, and as of right now, he wasn't breathing on his own. "Oh Austin" she murmured. "This is why" she broke into tears slightly. "this is why my dad quit flying. He got into a terrible plane accident, we were all so worried, but he made it through." she said to Lauren. "I believe Austin will too." then she remembered Molly was going out tonight. "hey...if you do end up needing to go home, can you stop at my place first and feed Ellie?" Chloe asked. "I forgot my roomamte/ best friend is going out with her boyfriend tonight" Chloe said

"Austin is never going to quit flying. He has said so himself," Lauren announced as she looked at him. She had drowned out the sounds of the beeps from the heart monitor and the ventilator. Now it was all coming back to her. Her eyes filled with tears as she watched his heart rate. "I can stop by your place if you give me your address. I can try my best to take care of her," Lauren added as she sat down. She knew this was not the time for Lily to be seeing Austin like this. It was best that she waited until he was awake or even a few days later when they had more information on his condition. Looking at her watch, she noticed that it was time for her to get going. "I need to get home and take care of Lily. Are you okay here yourself?"

"yea, here let me put it in your phone." Chloe said, taking Lauren's phone and putting in her address. "There's a key pad on the door, the cod is 22005. She will bark at you, but when you feed her she'll be fine. Molly will be back around 9 or so, so she can take Ellie for a walk. Just give her food and refil her water bowl." Chloe said. "Yea, that's totally fine. I'll let you know if anything changes." she said, taking hold of Austin's hand. "i'm not going anywhere." Chloe promised

Lauren nodded as she kissed her brother on the forehead before heading out of the room.
Over the next week, Austin's condition slightly improved. During that time, a few pilots and flight attendants came to see Austin and pay their respects, including Kelley who was on a two day lay over. He was shocked to see Austin in such a condition that he had gone pale during his visit. After a few more days, Austin's hand suddenly twitched as he began to wake up from his coma.

The Doctors tried to get Chloe to leave, but she was very persuasive and they agreed to let her stay. It was week 3 and Austin had yet to wake up. She had met some of his co-workers. It was early morning when she saw his hand start to twitch. She got up from the pull out bed and rushed over to his side, grabbing hold of his hand. "Austin?" she whispered. She grabbed her phone from her pocket and quickly texted Lauren. -I think he's starting to wake up- Chloe watched him closely. "Come on" she said. "you can do it"

Lauren who was in the middle of class was not able to get to her phone when it buzzed in her desk. She had been in with Lily to visit Austin. Lily had been a little scared at first, but then realized that it was like he was sleeping. She had brought him a picture of him flying a plane with her next to him. She had even brought him a card and some flowers as well. When she had left that day, she gave Austin a kiss on the cheek and asked him to get better before she left.
Austin's eyes fluttered for a moment, but did not open as his left index finger gave a sudden twitch. It took another hour for him to finally wake up as his eyes slowly opened. He wanted to speak, but could not due to the ventilation tube that was down his throat. Instead, he looked around the room trying to figure out where he was.

Chloe smiled when his eyes finally fluttered open. Chloe kissed his hand. "hey" she said. "Austin." she smiled again. "you're at the hospital." Chloe said, kissing his forehand. "you've been in a coma for about 3 weeks." She said. "Lauren and I didn't think you would wake up at all." she said. She leaned forward and hugged him, then she pulled back. "you're ok" she said, starting to cry

A nurse came into the room to change Austin's bandages when she noticed that Austin was awake. "Oh! Let me get the doctor real quick!" The nurse then turned on her heal to head out of the room to find the doctor. She then returned about 10 minutes later with Dr. Marshall on her heals. He checked over Austin before removing the the tube from his throat.
"Mr. Woods, how many fingers am I holding up?" the doctor asked as he held up 4 fingers.
"Four..." Austin said in a raspy voice from not speaking for 3 weeks. He then looked at Chloe for a moment as he tried to remember who she was for a moment. Then it came back to him once the doctors had left the room. "Clo.."

"hi" Chloe said. "yea, its me." she smiled, as tears rolled down her face. "I missed you" she said. It felt like she hadn't seen him for three weeks, all because he was in a coma. But now that he was awake again, everything would be ok. "I've been by your side for the last 3 weeks" she said. "I did go home to take care of Ellie, and I did leave to get food, but I always came back to you." she said, pointing to the couch where she had been sleeping.

Austin looked around the room for a moment before is eyes found Chloe again. "What happened? Why am I in the hospital?" He was so confused as to why he was in the hospital. You do not just wake up in the hospital unless something bad happened. He felt a sudden jab of pain in his right arm as he tried to move it, causing his face to wince a little. "Did something serious happen?"

"You don't remember?" Chloe asked him. She looked at the ground. "You were in a plane accident." Chloe said. "it was pretty serious, one of the crew members didn't make it" she said, tears falling down her face. "ya know, I didn't think you were going to make it either." she admitted. "there were times I just broke own in tears." she said, holding his hand. "do you remember how we know eachother?" she asked, hoping that he would at least remember that.

Austin's eyes moved away from hers for as he thought about what she had said about the plane crash. A crash? There was no way that he would be in a crash. He always made sure the plane was in perfect condition. He then looked at her again as he thought about how he knew her. It took a long moment as he tried to remember. "I think you are my girlfriend if i remember correctly," Austin replied as he took a moment to think again. It all came back to him as he realized that he had not called her his girlfriend before. But something about it just felt right. He was tired as he closed his eyes and then opened them again. "I don't remember anything about the crash. I don't even remember when I was flying."
