"yea" Chloe said. "I am. And you're my boyfriend" she said she then thought about how to tell him that the engines exploded. "It was on the news." she said. "the news people said that a plane had lost two engines and went down into a field." she said, holding his hand. "You don't have to remember flying the plane." Chloe said to him. "all you have to remember is who you are, and who your family is." Chloe said. "I should text Lauren, let her know you're awake." before she did, she looked at him. "do you remember who Lauren is?" she asked

"I think she is my sister..." Austin said as he looked at Chloe. He was not sure but that just felt like the right answer to him. He then sighed as he realized that he was getting tired. His body had been fighting while he was out. All he wanted to do was sleep. But after a moment, he looked down at his arm which had an IV in it. "Do you mind if I get some rest? I feel really tired."

"yes. she is" she said. "Of course not." Chloe said, leaning forward to kiss him. "i'll be here when you wake up" she promised, holding his hand until he fell asleep. She texted Lauren. -hey, just wanted to let you know that Austin is awake. He doesn't remember the crash, which I expected, and he is now sleeping- Then, she texted Molly.
Chloe- hey, Austin's finally awake
Molly- thank god, I was beggininning to worry
Chloe- me too
Molly- you coming home tonight?
Chloe- yea, I think I will, I can't stand that couch anymore
Molly- lol, ok so I'll see you when you get home
Chloe- yep
Molly- Molly liked the text message.
Chloe put her phone back in her purse, and went back to the pull out bed. She took out her IPad and connected her airpods, turning on Netflix and watching Season 5 Episode 1 of Heartland. She soon got tired herself, so she paused the show and lay down under the covers, closing her eyes and falling asleep

Austin fell asleep quickly since he was so tired. It was like a dream as Austin appeared in the cockpit of the plane and was watching everything from the jump seat. But he could not hear any of the words being spoken. Not even he could speak whatsoever in the dream. He watched the scene play out as it had happened. One moment the plane was in the air, and the next it was on the ground sliding through the trees. He saw himself sitting in the left seat of the cockpit, still in his harness as he had lost consciousness. He was still in his harness as he sat there, his eyes closed and his head hanging forward as blood fell down his face and onto his uniform. Suddenly, Austin sat up in bed, breathing heavily as if he had ran a race. He looked around and realized where he was before he felt the sudden pain in his right shoulder. "Darn it," Austin whispered as he leaned back in his bed.

Chloe woke up a little while later. She yawned and wanted to turn over, but she heard Austin curse. She sat up and walked over to Austin. “You alright?” Chloe asked, leaning forward and kissing him. “I’ve missed doing that” she said laughing. She glanced at her phone. “shoot, I have to go feed Ellie. And I was planning on staying at my house tonight.” She said. She kissed Austin again. “I’ll be back in the morning. Text me if you need anything.” She said, kissing him one last time, and then kissed him for a long time. “Ok, I really gotta go” she said, kissing him one last time. “I’ll be back tomorrow “ she headed out of the hospital and into her car. When she got home, she hugged Molly and rubbed Ellie on her belly, feeding her. “I wish I didn’t have to leave, but I’ve been gone for to long, I miss my bed. But I’m worried about Austin” she said, with a sigh. Molly hugged her. “He’ll be fine.” She promised. Chloe nodded, grabbing her phone. “Im going to text him” she said, texting him. -hey, just checking in. How you doing?-

After Chloe had left, a nurse came in to check his vitals and talked to Austin a while to make sure that he was okay. He laid there as Lauren walked in with Lily.
"I am so glad that you are awake," Lauren announced as she hugged her brother, but was careful about touching his right arm since it was broken.
"Uncle Austin!" Lily exclaimed as she jumped up onto his bed and hugged him as well.
"Careful, Lily. We need to make sure we do not touch his right arm. It is still broken," Lauren announced as she touched Lily's shoulder. "Be gentle."
"Okay, Mommy. Uncle Austin, did you see my picture I drew you the other day?" Lily asked as she sat in his lap.
"No, I don't think I did," Austin announced as he looked around for the drawing. He found it on the table next to him propped up against a vase of flowers. He looked at the picture for a moment and saw himself in the cockpit for a moment. He shook his head as he pushed away the image. "It is very nice. Is that you and me?"
"Uh-huh. I want to go with you one day. Maybe you can fly us to Disneyland," Lily answered as she looked at his hand that had the IV in it and then laid her head against his shoulder. "Mommy was really worried about you. So was that Chloe lady."

Chloe was watching a movie with Molly in the living room. Ellie was laying in her lap. When the movie ended, it was about 9:30. “I haven’t slept good in 3 weeks, I’m heading upstairs early. Molly nodded. “Alright. See you in the morning, love you Clo” Molly said. “Love you Mols” Chloe said, heading up to her room. She took a shower and when she finished she turned on the tv and watched heartland. “Ellie” Chloe said, patting the bed, Ellie jumped onto it and curled up until she was in a ball. Chloe laughed and got into her bed. She grabbed her phone and texted Austin, who’s contact name was now officially my boyfriend. -good night Austin, I’ll be at the hospital first thing in the morning. XoXo- she turned her phone on do not disturb and snuggled into her pet, butting her hand on Ellie’s back.

"I should be getting Lily home," Lauren announced an hour later when Austin's food had arrived for dinner. He looked at Lily who was trying not to fall asleep with her head on his left shoulder. "Grandpa and Grandma should be here in a few days to visit. They just got busy with a few things."
"Did they come and visit while I was unconscious?" Austin asked as Lauren picked up Lily.
"Yeah, several times. They were worried just like everyone else. When Chloe had sent me the message that you were awake, I called our grandparents to let them know that you were okay and awake," Lauren said. She shifted her daughter in her arms before she leaned down and kissed Austin on the cheek. "Get some rest. I am sure Chloe will be here tomorrow morning to see you."
Austin nodded as he watched Lauren walk out of the room. He then pushed his dinner away as he was not hungry at the moment, but did not want to sleep. He was afraid that he was going to have that dream again. Though, he could not remember all the details of the dream. Then there was Chloe. He thought about how she probably felt after hearing about what had happened. He loved her and wanted to make it up to her if she felt he needed to.

Chloe rolled over in her bad and turned off the tv. “Alexa, turn off my light” Chloe said. Alexa-“ok” Chloe’s light was turned off and Chloe slowly fell asleep. When she woke up the next morning, Chloe glanced at the clock. 10:30. She got up and got dressed. “Come ellie” Chloe looked at her bed but Ellie wasn’t there. “Ellie?” She opened her door and ran down the stairs. “Molly!” Chloe called. “Wheres” she stopped. Molly was pouring Ellie her food. “I made you breakfast” she said, handing it to her. “You can eat it on the drive to see hospital” Molly said. “Thanks, I’ll see you later.” She said, grabbing the food and driving to the hospital. When she got there she went to the front desk. “Hi, I’m here to see my boyfriend, Austin Woods” she said. “Name?” The lady asked. “Chloe Whitefield” Chloe said. The lady typed her name into the computer. “You see Mr. Woods often?” She asked. “Yes, I’ve been here for the last three weeks” she said. “Alright, you’re good to head to his room” the nurse. Said. Chloe thanked her and headed down to Austin’s room. “Hi there sleepy head” she said, walking over to his bed to kiss him. She pulled a chair up close to him. “So, how was everything last night?” She asked.

"Fine, Lauren came to see me with Lily last night. I didn't sleep much at all," Austin said as Chloe sat down next to him. He then looked his breakfast that he had not touched as he was not hungry. He was wearing some of the clothes that Lauren had brought him, which was a United Airlines grey t-shirt with the old logo on it and a pair of black and blue plaid pajama bottoms. It was more comfortable than wearing the hospital gown. He looked at Chloe and smiled. With his good arm, he reached over and took her hand. "Thank you for staying by my side while I was unconscious. I really appreciate it."

“Thats good.” Chloe said. “Sorry I’m a little late, I kinda over slept.” She said, laughing. “Oh trust me, the doctors tried so hard to get me to leave, but I am known to be very persistent and they allowed me to stay” Chloe said, smiling as she held his hand. “So….about what happened yesterday” she said. “Did you mean it?” She asked. “Ya know, when you called me your girlfriend.” Chloe said. Austin probably didn’t remember calling Chloe his girlfriend, but if he did, and it was true, that they were official now, she could tell Molly she had a boyfriend, she could call him her boyfriend, she could do all the things like that. She just really hoped he meant it

Austin had to think for a moment as he remembered waking up for the first time. Did he mean it? He racked around in his brain for a moment and then nodded. "Yes. I mean it. This crash really has me thinking about what would have happened to me. Even though I do not remember much about the crash. I don't want to be that person who I used to be, running around chasing women for the thrill. I know it is time for me to settle down with someone," Austin announced as he squeezed her hand.

Chloe smiled and squeezed his hand. “Hey….why don’t you come back to me and Mollys place when you get discharged from the hospital” Chloe suggested. “Also, I uh, may or not have changed your name in my phone to my boyfriend.” Chloe said, “with the heart emojis” Chloe looked at him a bit embarrassed, and then she squeezed his hand as well. “So…uh….Lauren…may of mentioned you having one night stands with flight attendants. Look, I don’t care. I really don’t. Because, we’ve both had a bad dating past, I just wish yo7 would’ve told me.” Chloe said, kissing his hand. “All I care about, is you getting better” she said, wanting to get on the bed with him. “Scotch over” she finally said. When he scooted over, Chloe got onto the bed and sat next to him. “This is nice” she said, resting her head on his shoulder. “I’ve been really worried about you”

"It's never something that I was proud of. I mean, a lot of pilots are that way when they first start out. They travel the world or even around the country working with different people on almost every flight. I thought it was just a way of having fun..." Austin stopped for a moment as he closed his eyes. The last woman that he had slept with was 6 months ago. And every time he used protection. He did get serious with a flight attendant for a year when he first started out. But things didn't work out as she moved to another airline. The both decided to break it off at that time. Austin felt Chloe then lay her head on his shoulder. He gently kissed the top of it and sighed as he wrapped his good arm around her. He then thought about her invitation to stay with them when he was discharged. But he thought about it for a moment. "I have a better idea. What if you moved in with me? Molly can come move in as well so that you have someone there when I am gone," Austin announced as he looked out the window. He could hear the sound of the hospital helicopter as it was landing on the helipad outside his window.

“Are you serious?” Chloe asked him. “Can..can I bring beauty to your place too?” She asked. “Or your grandparents ranch, and what about Mollys horse? She’s not going to drive an hour to see her horse” Chloe said. “And maybe one day…we can get our own place together. Along with…Molly” Chloe muttered. Chloe smiled and kissed his cheek. “I love you” she said, closing her eyes. She opened the, again for a moment. “You don’t have to say it back if you’re not ready yet. Just know, that I love you with my whole heart. And yea, I thought about what it would be like to loose you.” Chloe said. “I’m so glad you’re ok” she said. “Anyway, if you’re bored, I can read you one of my books that I accidentally kept here.” She said laughing.
