"I have some things to do around the ranch to prepare for winter. And I also have a couple of flights in two days, or else I would come and stay with you. But I can come visit when I have time before I have to leave," Austin announced. He wished he did not have to go, but it was time that he got back behind the controls of a plane. It had been too long since he had last flown. "I know your mom is going to take great care of you."

“Well duh, she’s my mom” Chloe laughed. James laughed. “You’re welcome any time austin” he said, walking out to the car with Chloe. Chloe put Ellie in the back seat and got in the front seat. “Did I mention how much I hate hospitals?” Chloe asked her brother. “A time or five, yes” he said, laughing as he started his car. When they got to their moms house, Chloe was greeted by molly. “Hey Clo” she said, opening the back door to let Ellie out. “Even though you’re out of the hospital, the doctors have you on bed rest for a day or two” her mother said. Chloe sighed. “At least I can stay in my old room” she said, heading up to her room she grew up in. All the pictures were still there and it was exactly how Chloe left it. She pulled the covers back and got into her bed, patting it to indicate Ellie come up. Ellie jumped onto her bed and she lay herself beside Chloe. Chloe then grabbed the remote and she turned on Heartland, then she grabbed her phone and texted Austin

Made it home, miss you, love you 🥰

Glad you made it home. Jake just came and picked me up and we are on our way back to the ranch. I will try to come see you tomorrow. Love you, too.
"I think we could use a drink after the month that we have had," Jake announced from the passenger seat of Austin's truck as they headed home.
"I think I could use one, as well. I think I have a couple of beers back in the fridge at home. We can watch the Cowboys vs. Seattle Seahawks game when we get back and just relax," Austin announced as he stopped for some coffee at a drive through coffee shop. He grabbed both of them black coffee with just sugar before continuing on back to the ranch.
"Sounds like a plan. I figured that today would be a kind of relaxing day since we have been through a lot," Jake announced before he took a sip of his coffee.

Chloe smiled and hearted the message from Austin. Just then, a knock sounded at her door. "come in" Chloe said. Her mom opened the door with a tray of food. "I figured you'd want some of my cooking since you had to deal with hospital food the last few days." she said, setting the tray down on Chloe's bed. "yes please!" Chloe said. Her mother smiled and kissed Chloe's head. "I'll be in to check on you in a little while, and Molly will be sleeping in the guest room." her mom said. Chloe nodded. "can you take Ellie out for a walk soon?" she asked. Her mother nodded. "yea, I'll send Molly up to come get her in about 30 mins." her mom said. Chloe nodded and began eating her food

Throughout the evening, Austin and Jake sat down in the living room while they watched the Cowboys/Seahawks game. It was a little odd not having Molly or Chloe here as he had gotten used to them always being there. Austin had thrown a couple of pizza's in the oven and had opened up a couple of beers for them to chill and just take a moment to forget everything that had happened during the past few days. Tomorrow Austin had to take Jake to the airport so that he could catch his flight home back to New York. Maverick had decided to lay by the fireplace that Austin had lit since it was a warm place.
(Eh...the best I could come up with...)

Later that night, Chloe got out of her bed to take a shower, when she finished, she headed back to her bed and got into her pjs. Then, she continued watching Heartland. She had to admit, it was a bit boring laying in bed all day, but she could watch Heartland, so there was that. Chloe yawned and looked at the clock. 9:30 pm. It read. Chloe watched Heartland until about 10:30, then she turned off her light and lay back in her bed, closing her eyes and falling asleep

Waking up the next morning and heading out to the truck, it was kind of a frosty morning since the low had been around the low 30's. Austin had grabbed his Carhart jacket off the hook as he walked out the door with Jake following behind. The drive to the airport was a bit slow since everyone seemed to get out onto the highway at once.
"I am glad that Chloe was able to get her sight back. And I hope that she is able to come back soon," Jake announced as they pulled up to the departures drop off.
"Me, too. She is in good hands with her mother, though," Austin said as they sat there for a moment. He clenched his jaw for a moment as he started to feel a little upset.
"Is something wrong?" Jake asked as he sensed that Austin was a little off.
"I just want to know why Chloe wanted to work with a horse that was so...unpredictable. I have not been able to get close to that horse, either. But I am not insane. That horse must have been wild or something," Austin sighed. He just wanted to know what was going through Chloe's head. He had worked with horses growing up. He knew that horse had something wrong with it. But after a moment, he shook his head. "I'm sorry. I guess it's the stress of the situation and all. I'll talk to her when she get's home."
"Let me know if you find anything out. But for now, I should be going, since I have to go through security," Jake announced as he opened the door. After saying goodbye, Jake headed into the airport after grabbing his bag from the back seat.

Chloe was able to return to Austin's ranch after two days, Molly drove them and when she got there, Chloe got out of the car. "I think I'm gonna have another go with that horse" Chloe said. Molly looked at her. "are you insane? That horse almost killed you" Molly said. "I know, but I don't give up on them" She said. "Fine" Molly said. Chloe looked around and found the horse in the round pen. She went inside and Molly stood outside. Chloe grabbed a whip and slapped it on the ground. "Get up" Chloe said, clucking her tongue. "ah ah ah, no" Chloe said, keeping the horse moving. "good boy" she said, slapping the ground with the whip again. She ran around in circles with him, keeping him moving. Then, she had the horse switch directions. "come on" Chloe said, clucking her tongue again

Sitting in the Pilot's Lounge in Vancouver, Austin looked at his watch knowing that Chloe should be back at the ranch by now. He had just gotten off a non-stop flight from LAX. He found a seat in one of the leather recliners and propped his feet up and pulled his phone from his pocket. He had 4 hours until his next flight to Hong Kong with one stop for about an hour and a half in San Francisco.
I am just checking in with you. I have a few hours before my next flight. Please do not work with that horse again. Wait until I get home, please."
Pressing send, he had a feeling that his plea was not going to work.

Chloe herd her phone buzz. She halted the horse and turned, leaving the pen so he didn't come charging at her like last time. Chloe laughed when she read his text. Molly looked at her. "whats up?" she asked. "Austin wants me to stop working with this guy until he gets home, but he knows I cant" Chloe said. Molly also laughed. "what will you say?" she asked. Chloe thought for a moment. "Probs that its to late, im already working with him, and that you are right outside the round pen watching me." Chloe said. She then texted Austin
Its a little to late for that. We're in the round pen...well im outside it right now, but thats not the point, the point is, im already working with him, but don't worry, Molly is watching me from right outside the round pen.
She hit send and handed her phone to Molly, then went back into the round pen. "alright, boy" Chloe said, clucking her tongue. "Get up" She grabbed a lead rope, instead of the whip. "come on" she said, making kissy noieses. The horse started going around in a cirlce once again. "so?" Molly asked. "what are you gonna call him?" she asked. "I was thinking Lightning" Chloe answered. "because he bolts like a bolt of lighting." she added. "oooo" Molly said. "I love it" Chloe smiled. Molly then grabbed Chloe's phone and started recording a video. "Meeting Lighting." Molly said. Chloe came up to the gate, making sure to watch Lightning while she went. "Full name" Chloe said. "Lightning Dexter." Chloe loved the name and then molly smiled. "i'm sending that to Austin." she said. Chloe looked at her. "ok.." she muttered, getting back to work with Lightning again

Are you kidding me?! Austin pressed send and then thought about for a moment before texting Chloe back. OK, I am still not happy about it, but at least Molly is with you. If that horse starts acting up, get the Demons out of there. He then leaned back in his seat as he rubbed his temples for a moment as he tried to make sense of the situation.
"Everything okay, Capitan?" the voice of First Officer Greg Michelson asked as he walked. It was the first officer that he was going to be flying with on the way to San Francisco and Hong Kong.
"Huh?" Austin asked as he almost jumped at the voice. He looked to his left to see Greg sitting on the leather couch that was nearby. "Oh, sure. I just have something that is a little irritating."
"Let me guess, scheduling? Yeah, I know the guy who does scheduling can be an ass at times. Trust me, I have wanted to punch him in the face several times," Greg answered as he leaned forward in his seat.
"No, not scheduling. It's just Chloe. She just got out of the hospital a week ago and she is trying to work with this horse that caused her to be put int he hospital. The Darn thing is just wild. He nearly bit me two nights ago when I was trying to feed the other horses," Austin sighed as he rubbed the bridge of his nose with his index finger and thumb.
"Have you told her not to?" Greg asked.
"I told her to wait. But she is already working with it right now. I told her to wait until I got home in a few days," Austin said as he tried to relax, but it was irritating him more. He was about to say something else when his phone went off in his pocket. He reached for it and watched the video as Greg walked over to his right side to watch it.
"Looks like she is doing good to me," Greg said as he shrugged his shoulders.
"For now," Austin sighed. He then returned his phone to his pocket. "But I still do not trust the Darn thing."

"Come on, Lightning" Chloe said, clucking more. He kept running around in circles, until finally he stopped. "is he going to do it?" Molly asked. Chloe shrugged. "I don't know, record this just in case." she said as she turned away. Molly nodded and grabbed Chloe's phone once more to record. Chloe closed her eyes and started walking a way a bit. "If he charges, let me know" Chloe said. "I got you" Molly replied. Chloe crossed her finger. "Please work" she begged. Lightning turned to look at Chloe, his ears forward, then he began walking towards her until he was lined up with her shoulder. Chloe smiled. "Good boy" Chloe said, reaching out to pet his neck. Molly smiled. "yes!" she said. "Now what?" she asked. "Now, I need to halter break him." Chloe said. "but since he trusts me, that shouldn't be to hard." she grabbed the halter and rubbed Lightning's nose. "good boy." she said, unclipping the halter and slipping it over his head. "good boy" she said again. Molly stopped the video and said. "I'm assuming you want me to send that to Austin?" she asked. "let me do it" she said. Molly handed her the phone and Chloe went to the video, laughing when Lightning sniffed it. She typed
-Lightning joined up, he trusts me, whats it going to take for you to trust him? Then she attached the video and sent it.
Lightning sniffed the phone again. "whats this?" she asked him, laughing, handing her phone back to Molly as she walked around the round pen with Lightning

Austin sighed when he got the next message. He took a good ten minutes to think before he returned a message back to Chloe. Me being there in person to see what you are doing with him. I guess since you already started there is no way of me talking you out of it. He pressed send before he laid his head back against the seat and closed his eyes. He did not realize that he had fallen asleep until someone started shaking his shoulder a few hours later.
"Capitan, time to wake up. It is time for our briefing," Greg announced as he shook Austin's shoulder.
Jostling awake, Austin looked at Greg and then at his watch. "Oh, shoot. Thanks for waking me. I probably would have slept through the whole thing and missed the flight.
"Are you sure you are okay to fly? You were out like a light. I tried waking you an hour ago, but I just could not wake you," Greg answered as he helped Austin grab his things.
"Eh, I have not slept well the past few nights. I guess it was just everything that was going on," Austin said as he walked over to where his suitcase and flight bag were. He pulled the handle up and began to follow Greg to the Briefing rooms where they would meet the rest of the crew.
"Well, are you sure you can fly?" Greg repeated as they walked down the hall.
"Yeah, I think that nap was all that I needed. And plus, I can grab some coffee on the plane before take off," Austin announced, greeting a few other pilots that he knew.

"I think thats good for today" Chloe said. "He's used to me, and he's used to the halter, he should be good until I try to saddle him tommrow." Chloe said. "you sure he's going to be ready for that?" Molly asked. Chloe shrugged. "I'll take it slow, but if not, I'll keep him going in the round pen" Chloe said simply. "Alright, so what are you going to do with him tonight?" she asked. "He has a stall in the barn, so I think I'll keep him there, that way I can give him some feed, and we can say hi to our girls" Chloe said, as Molly nodded and opened the round pen gate. Chloe led Lightning out of the round pen and she and Chloe walked to the barn. She took off his halter and placed it on the hook beside his door. Then, she went to get the feed ready. First, she gave Beauty her feed, while Molly gave Athena her feed, then Chloe gave Lightning his feed while Molly took care of Austin's horse. After the finished, Chloe turned out the barn light for the night and closed up the door. "let me just go tell Elizabeth and George that the horses are fed." she said, heading up to the main house and opening the door. "hi Elizabeth" she said, spotting Elizabeth in the kitchen. "Molly and I fed and watered the horses, so they're good to go" she said.

"Oh, thank you. That really helps with George resting since his knee was acting up a bit," Elizabeth announced as she shut the door to the fridge after grabbing some strawberries she needed for a strawberry pie. She then looked at Chloe. "Have you heard from Austin? He told me he was going to check in with his grandfather before he takes off." She set the tray of strawberries down on the counter so that she could wash them before she was going to use them in the pie.
