All Austin wanted to do when he got to the hotel was sleep. But he had promised that he would let Chloe FaceTime him. After a quick shower and changing into his favorite Cowboy Up shirt and a pair of pj bottoms to rest in, Austin sat down on the bed as he called Chloe via FaceTime. He did look tired as he waited for her to answer.

Chloe’s phone buzzed as she was working with Lightning. It was about 5:30, and she had to turn the horses out soon. She answered her phone smiling. She could tell Austin was tired but she was happy he called her. “Well Hi handsome” she said, flipping around the camera so he could see Lightning. “Here’s Lightning.” She said. “I promise, he’s a good horse, he may have hurt me, but he trusts me” Chloe said. She wanted to kiss Austin so bad, but she couldn’t. “You’ll be home tomorrow?” She asked, flipping the camera back around and heading to the edge of the round pen. Lightning turned his head towards her and walked up behind her, nuzzling her. Chloe laughed. “I miss you” she said

"I have a two day layover here in Hong Kong. So, I won't be home for another three days," Austin replied when she asked him when he was going to be home. He reached for his water bottle and took a sip from it. "I promise everything is going okay. Just a little tired." He then watched as Lightning nudged her. It looked like she was making some good work with him. He let out a sigh. "It seems like he is liking you pretty well. Such a difference. He tried to bite me the other day. Now that I think about it, he might have been scared."

“Yea” Chloe said. “He arrived when you were in simulator training” she said, telling him the story. “Your grandparents found him off the internet and he was incredibly abused. I guess he thought you were going to hurt him. But he’s ok now” she promised as she rubbed her hand on his nose. “Hey, I should probably tell you…I’ve been letting Maverick sleep in my bed while you’ve been gone. Ellie has been sleeping with Molly, he just misses you so much and when he sleeps in my bed, he keeps me warm and he always snuggles up against me” she said. “I know you don’t like having him sleep on your bed, but I really hope you don’t mind. He didn’t sleep on my bed the first night and he cried and cried and cried. So I just kinda gave in and let him” Chloe said, rubbing Lightning on his neck

"He is used to going to my grandparents when I am gone. I always let him sleep at my feet on the bed. So, I am assuming that he was nervous about the new situation," Austin said. For a moment he was quiet as he thought. "I do want to apologize for the argument we have been having. I never said I did not trust you. I just was nervous about that horse. But it looks like you have it under control. I still do not like the idea of you riding him first. But, I guess I can not control what you do. So, I guess you can ride him. But when I get home, I want to ride him to see if he will let me ride him. And no, I will not be using that fancy English saddle you like to use," Austin said with a smirk.

“Then I need to get him used to another western and English. Molly can help me with that tomorrow” Chloe said with a laugh. “You’re pretty tired and I have to turn the horses out. Call me tomorrow.” She said, rubbing Lightning again. “I love you” she blew him a kiss before she hung up the phone. “Ready to go see your friends?” Chloe asked Lightning. He bickered and Chloe laughed. Molly was letting some of the horses out when she got there. Chloe put Lightning in the paddock and she took off his halter. “There you go”
She said, kissing his nose” he turned and galloped away. Then beauty and Athena were out in their own field as well with the other mares.

Austin nodded as he felt his eyes getting a little heavy. When he hung up, Austin decided to fall asleep for a while and did not wake up until about 5pm in China. Once he woke up, he got ready for dinner as he was going out with the crew. After getting back, Austin gave Chloe a text saying that he was back from dinner and that if she wanted she could show him what she was working on with Dexter.

Chloe rolled over in her bed and glanced at her phone. "Its 7 am" She groaned, texted Austin. -honey, its 7am, why would I be working with Dexter right now?- she texted with a laughing emoji at the end of it. She realized she had written honey, and she instantly unsent the text, resending -Austin, its 7:am, can I call you at 9?- she sent the text and rolled back over, putting her arm around Maverick. Chloe rolled over again and finally woke up at 8 am. She yawned and rubbed Maverick behind the ears. He barked. "you a hungry boy?" she asked, laughing. He barked again and Chloe smiled. "ok, ok, lets go" she said, getting into her riding outfit of the day. She headed down the stairs and said good morning to Molly before she poured the dogs their food

He was awake now after his long sleep. After changing into a United Airlines shirt, a pair of wrangler jeans, cowboy boots, a Carhart jacket and his Stetson Aviation trucker hat, Austin met the crew downstairs where they went to a Chinese hot pot restaurant for dinner. He had a couple of beers as he sat around the hot pot chatting about different flights that they had been on and other things that they could joke about and having a good time.

Chloe lead Lightning to the round pen and took off his halter. “Alright boy” Chloe said, glancing at her watch. “9 am” she said, frowning slightly. “What do you say we work till noon” she suggested. Lightning neighed loudly and Chloe laughed. She put her phone on the post and soon Molly came over with the dogs. “So, what are you going to do today?” Molly asked. “Ground work, and I’m going to try and saddle him” Chloe said. Molly nodded. “Ok” she said. “Well, I’ll be here” she said, rubbing Ellie behind her ears. Chloe swung the lead rope around and clucked her tongue. “Get up” she said, running after Lightning. “Come on, get up!” She had him going in a steady trot. “Hey, can you grab both an English and western saddle for me?” She asked Molly. “Sure” Molly said. Chloe kept working with Lightning, and soon, Molly was back with both saddles, she out 5em in the fence and continued to watch Chloe.

It was about ten as Austin and the crew walked back to the hotel. He was starting to feel a slight buzz from the drinks, but was able to walk back to the hotel perfectly fine. He made his way to the room as 10 pm hit. He sat down at the desk after setting up his laptop so that he could talk to Chloe and watch as she worked with Lightning. He was nervous about this. He wanted to be there so that he could help her with breaking Lightning and introducing him to the tack slowly over a couple of days. He then messaged Chloe that he was back at the hotel and was ready for her to start the live chat.

Molly glanced at Chloe’s phone. “Austin texted you” she said. “What did he say?” Chloe asked. “He’s ready for you to call him.” Molly said. “Well, I’m kinda busy right now” Chloe said as she grabbed the saddle pad. “I’ll call him” Molly said. She called Austin and flipped the camera around. “Lets try this” Chloe said to Lightning. She rubbed the saddle pad along his back and he lifted his head. “Woah” she said. “You’re ok” she said, rubbing it along his back more. “Good boy” she said, draping the saddle pad onto his back. “Good boy” Chloe said, grabbing the half pad. “See, this is nothing” she said. “Its basically the same thing as the saddle pad” she said to Lightning. “Good boy” she said putting it onto his back. Chloe didn’t know if Austin had answered the phone, but she grabbed the saddle and put it onto his back. “Good boy, Lightning” Chloe said, rubbing his nose. “Bridle” she said to Molly. Molly handed Chloe the bridle and Chloe put the reigns on Lightnings neck first, and then she got the bit into his mouth and the crown piece onto his forehead. “Atta boy” Chloe said. Molly smiled. “Nice” she said. “Yea, but this is the real test” Chloe said.

Austin felt like he was holding his breath the entire time that he was watching Chloe. Being halfway across the world made it felt even worse as he watched. He also felt like his blood pressure was way up as well. He wanted to say something, but he was not sure if saying something would spook Lightning and cause something worse to happen. So he just remained quiet during the entire time. Finally after a moment, he spoke in a soft voice to Molly. "Are you sure this is going to work? I have a bad feeling about this..."

“We’ll see” Molly whispered back. “She did this with Beauty, so, we’ll see” Molly said. Chloe rubbed Lightnings neck. “We can do this, right” she said, grabbing the reigns. “Good boy” she put her left foot in the strupp. “Ok Lightning” Chloe said. She glanced back at Molly who nodded her head. Chloe took a deep breath and hopped three times before swinging her leg over and she sat onto the saddle on Lightning’s back. “Woah” Chloe said, when she put her other foot in the strupp. “Good boy” she said, then Lightning started to buck wildly. “Chloe!” Molly shrieked. “Easy” Chloe said. “You’re ok, you’re ok” she rubbed his neck and soon he settled down. “Good boy” she said, rubbing his neck. She squeezed him and asked for a canter as she cantered him around the round pen. “Good boy” Chloe said. She halted him at the edge of the gate. “I did it” she said. “I’m sorry..” she said to Austin. “But…I couldn’t wait”

"Seeing him blow up like that was the main reason why I wanted to be the first to ride him," Austin announced as he sounded a little upset. But he did not mean to. He almost felt his heart stop when he saw Lightning blow up. He wanted to yell, but he felt that it was not going to do any good and most likely the neighbors in the next room would complain if he did. "Chloe, I am going to ask you to please wait to ride him again until I have gotten the chance to do so." He knew that there was a possibility that she would not listen. And that was one thing that he wished she would change about her. He was only telling her this to keep her safe.
