As Austin slept, he suddenly started to have a dream about the crash. It was a dream that he did not want to have again. But this time, the ending was different. Instead of him surviving, Austin could see himself in the left seat of the plane, where the branch had struck a major artery in his neck. Within seconds, Austin saw himself sitting there on in his seat with his head turned towards the right side of the plane. His eyes open wide as if he saw the branch cut into his neck and he knew that he was not going to survive. Blood ran down his uniform as he sat there motionless. Austin suddenly woke up with a start as he sat up in bed. His breathing was heavy as if he had just ran a 50 miles without stopping. He ran his hand over his forehead to realize that he had broken out in a cold sweat.

Looking at the clock on the bed side table, Austin noticed that it was almost 4pm. Maverick was still sleeping on the bed at his feet as he pulled himself out from under the blanket. There was no way that he could go back to sleep. Not after seeing what he had seen in his dream. He slowly pulled himself out of bed and decided to head downstairs.

Chloe put shampoo along Beauty's back, Beauty didn't like getting baths, but she sat through them. When Chloe finished bathing her, she waited for Molly to finish with Athena before they put them in the field for the night. "Well, Beauty did a lot better than I thought she would." Chloe said, grabbing the bucket of water she had ready in case Beauty didn't cooperate. She dumped it out and a little of it landed on Molly. "hey" Molly said, laughing. "what?" Chloe asked, looking at her. "you just sprayed water on me." she said. "I did not." Chloe said. "oh yea?" Molly asked, grabbing the hose and spraying Chloe. "I didn't do that." Chloe stood there with her mouth open. "Oh you are so on." Chloe said, grabbing her hose and dragging it outside so the barn didn't get wet. She sprayed Molly and laughed, Molly then sprayed her. "MISSED" Chloe teased. "did not!" Molly argued, spraying Chloe in the face. "NOT THE FACE" Chloe screeched, covering her face. She grabbed her hose and sprayed Molly's hair. "NOT MY HAIR! Really Chloe?" she said, laughing

Grabbing a cup of coffee, Austin decided to light a fire in the fireplace since that might make it a little better. He walked outside where he grabbed a couple of good sized logs and placed them on top of the kindling. Lighting the kindling, he for the fire to really get going before he stacked more kindling on top of it to get the fire nice and warm. Once it was hot, he found a seat on the couch as he contemplated what the dream could have meant to him. Nothing came to mind. He just decided to sit and watch the fire as the flames danced in the fireplace. The sounds of the cracks and pops from the fire seemed to relax him as he closed his eyes. Maverick laid near the fire so that he could get warm. He reached for his coffee and took a sip. It was sweet and bitter, just how he liked it. He only took sugar in his coffee as creamer to him was just too sweet to his taste.

"OK!" Molly finally said. "I give in" she set down the hose and flopped on the ground. "well I don't exactly want to stay in these wet clothes, lets go change" Chloe said, grabbing Molly's hand to help her up. Molly sighed but nodded, getting to her feet. They walked into the house, dripping wet, and each went to their separate rooms. Chloe rummaged through some drawers before she found a pair of comfy pants and a nice shirt. She opened her door to find Molly standing there. "whats up?" she asked. "uhm...Lightning just jumped the round pen fence" Molly said. Chloe gasped. "what? I didn't even know he knew how to jump a fence! We need to go after him!" She ran down the stairs and then stopped. "Lightning just jumped the round pen fence, we have to go after him" she said to Austin. "wait...what horses are we going to use?" Molly asked. "Beauty and Athena are still drying." Chloe thought for a moment. "Uhm....we can use....Fireball and Chaplin." She said. "thats ok right" she asked Austin

Austin did not register that the girls had come into the house until they had announced that Lightning had jumped the fence. He looked to Chloe for a moment before nodding. His head was still thinking about the dream that he just had not too long ago. "Yeah, that is fine," Austin said as he looked back to the fire. He set his coffee down on the table and decided to get dinner started for them. He dug around in the box freezer for a few minutes until he grabbed out some hamburger meat and threw it in the microwave to defrost out. He figured he would make his grandmother's favorite casserole which was her 4 ingredient Ground Beef casserole. Once the ground beef was browned, he took some time to chop up some potatoes and threw those into a pan with some cream of mushroom soup, shredded cheese, and some spices to give it better flavor and threw everything into the oven so that it could all bake while he went back to the living room to sit by the fire.

"ok" Chloe said. "lets go" They ran out to the barn and quickly tacked up Fireball and Chaplin, grabbing a halter and lead rope and galloping out of the barn. They followed after Lightning for a while until he came to a stop. "Molly" Chloe whispered. "look" Lightning was nuzzling a very pregnant mare. "He has mate" Molly whispered. "yea, and she's pregnant" Chloe added. "we need to get them back to the barn" Chloe said, dismounting. "You take Lightning, I've got the mare" Molly said. "but wait, we only have one halter" Chloe thought for a moment. "look" Chloe said. "brought an extra, don't know why, I just did" She walked over to Lightning and slipped the halter on just as Molly was slipping in onto the pregnant mare." Then, they got back on the horses and started riding back. When they got there, Chloe yelled for Elizabeth. "Elizabeth!" She called

Elizabeth walked out of the house once she heard her name being called. She did not understand why she was being called until she saw Chloe bringing in two horses. One of them Lightning and a mare that she had not seen before. "What is going on? Where did you find this horse?" she asked as she walked over to the girls. She pulled on her jacket that she had brought out with her as she looked over the mare. "Go and find a stall in the barn. She looks like she could give birth any day now. Put some extra sawdust and straw down for her," Elizabeth instructed. She was raised on a breeding farm in Lubbock, Texas and knew exactly what to do for this mare. "My father used to raise thoroughbreds and paints when I was younger. Make sure it is large enough for her. One of the stalls in back can transform into a foaling stall."

"Lightning jumped the round pen fence, we followed him and found him with her." Chloe said, listening closely to what Elizabeth was telling them to do. "alright" she said, squeezing her heals and making Fireball walk forward. When they got into the barn, Chloe found a big empty stall for the mare. "Here, I can take her while you put down extra straw" Chloe said to Molly once Fireball and Chaplin were back in their stalls, along with Lightning in his. She held the mare's lead rope and put her hand on her belly. She smiled as she felt the baby moving. "its ready" Molly said. Chloe nodded and she led the mare inside, taking off her halter and closing the door. "well, what are we going to call you?" Chloe asked. Molly thought for a moment. "what about Starfire, Star for short. Because of the Star on her forehead." Chloe nodded. "I like that. Welcome to the ranch Starfire." Chloe said. "I'm going to head in" Molly finally said. "You coming?" she asked. Chloe shook her head. "I want to stay with Starfire for a bit." she said. Molly nodded and headed back to the house, when she got there, she sat down on the couch and said. "Chloe and I found Lightning with a heavily pregnant mare, we brought her back and she's in a stall now, Chloe's still with her if you want to go out and see her." Molly said, then she added. "we named her Starfire, Star for short, because of the star she has on her forehead." then, she turned on the tv and watched it. Chloe stood at the stall door. "Hey girl" she said. She opened the door and walked inside. "You're a good girl" she rubbed Star's nose and then put her hand on her belly again. "You've got an active baby in there, don't ya" She said laughing as Starfire nodded her head. Chloe rubbed her nose and said. "you're in safe hands here, I promise" then, she left the stall and closed the door, continuing to watch Starfire as she sniffed at the hay and began eating it

He had not registered that Molly had come in until she sat down on the couch and started talking to him about the mare that they had found. He had finally pushed everything about the dream he had in the back of his mind. But it still kind of poked at him every now and then. "I would put an ad out to see if anyone is missing a horse that is pregnant," Austin announced a moment later. He watched the flames in the fireplace as they danced and continued to pop and crack as the fire burned. He closed his eyes, but opened them wide when he saw the image of himself sitting in the seat dead with eyes wide opened. What could that dream have meant?

Molly shook her head. "not, I think she was wild" Molly said. "I mean, she did take to the halter easily, but what if she was abused like Lightning. Chloe is going to tell you she's not going anywhere." Molly added. Chloe watched Star for a little while longer before she turned out the barn light and headed back to the house. She found some dinner on the kitchen table and grabbed a plate and began eating. When she finished, she indicated she and Molly go up to her room. "Well, I think I'm going to turn in for the night." Molly said. When they got to Chloe's room, she sat on the floor. "so, I was thinking, we could play a game of uno." Chloe said. "like we used to when we were little." Molly added. Chloe nodded. "or we could play something else" she said. Molly shook her head. "uno" she said, grabbing the deck of cards that was in Chloe's side table drawer

(Let's wait. They have just begun dating and I think it is too early. Also, they could mention something about Austin not acting normal?)

After eating, Austin began to feed the fire some more as he gave Maverick a pet on the head. "Well, I guess it is just you an me tonight. Come on, lets go and get some of that pie Gran sent over with me," Austin said as he walked into the kitchen. He then opened the fridge and pulled the pie out. He decided to warm up the pecan pie. Normally he would take it room temp, but something about it being warm made him feel like it was fresh out of the oven. He threw the pie into the oven and sat down at the table so that he could pour himself a glass of beer. Tomorrow he had a lot of work to take care of. His dream that he had meant something. Maybe it was the changes that he was going through. No more one night stands, no more flirting with the flight attendants that were single. Things were different for him now that he was with Chloe. But could that be the meaning of the dream?

"hey" Molly nudged Chloe. "Whats up?" she asked. Chloe set her cards down and sighed. "somethings wrong with Austin" she said. Molly looked at her. "why do you say that?" she asked. "oh come on, he hasn't said a single word to me since he got back." Chloe said. "thats not true, you asked him if we could take Fireball and Chaplin to look for Lightning." Molly said. "yea, but he didn't even see me walk in" Chloe said with a sigh. "I don't know" she said, with another sigh. "Its just...things feel different now that we live here. I'm so far from my mom, and my brother." Molly held her hand. "why don't you just talk to him?" she suggested. Chloe shook her head. "i just...i miss my mom." she said. Molly hugged her. "it'll all be ok" she promised. "but i do think you should talk to austin, k?" she asked. "yea, ok, but in the morning" Chloe said. Molly laughed but nodded

The next morning, Austin did not sleep well as he was up all night thinking about his life and how things had suddenly changed. When his alarm went off at 5:30 am, he got out of bed and headed into the bathroom where he took a long hot shower. The feeling of hot water on his body sort of relaxed hm to the point that he did not want to get out. But he knew he had chores to do in the barn and around the ranch. A few fences needed to be fixed and he needed to chop up some more wood for both him and his grandparents for the winter. There was just so much to do. Once dressed, he headed down to the kitchen to make himself a cup off coffee with Maverick following him. His claws tapping on the hardwood floor as they walked into the kitchen.

Ellie perked her head up when she herd Mavericks paws on the hard wood floor. She jumped off Chloe's bed and nosed open the door, running down the stairs. Before Austin had left for his flights, he would feed both dogs as he got up much earlier than both Chloe and Molly. When Ellie got down into the kitchen, she gazed up at Austin, and barked. She was hoping he wouldn't forget the routine they had started before he left. Chloe groaned when she felt Ellie jump off her bed and leave her room, she rolled over and went back to sleep until about 9:30, when she woke up, she herd Molly in the kitchen making breakfast. She got on her outfit for the day and headed into the kitchen. "morning" Chloe said. "Morning" Molly replied, handing Chloe a piece of toast

As Austin waited for the coffee pot to be ready, he fed both dogs , which by the time he was done, the coffee pot was done. He poured himself a cup and sat down at the table where he picked up the breakfast that he had made and started to eat. When he was done, Austin washed his dishes and placed them in the dish drainer before heading outside to help the hands take care of the horses. He knew that Molly and Chloe would clean out the stalls later that afternoon as he got Twister ready to go check on the cattle to count to see if there was anymore calves born. He would make sure to count them and report them to the ranch hands who would go and tag and weigh them later that day. It was still dark out, so Austin packed a flash light with him as he rode out to the cow fields where he counted a total of 5 new calves that needed to be tagged and weighed.
