Enilair ate slowly and contemplatively, though his mind was racing swifter than the north wind. He wanted to remember anything and everything that had occurred within the last few days all at once, all the vigorous training he had received (courtesy of Grthmé), all that was to happen at the actual attack, the other young apprentice that was to join him on this raid. He hoped there would be a chance in which he could converse with her a bit more. She had seemed like a wolf he could have fun with, under different circumstances. He finished his meal before he had even realized it and looked around briefly to see if he had any more left.. nothing. Enilair turned to Greynan and it seemed that the older wolf had just finished as well.. or had a little while ago, he was staring at Enilair again, his bright, wise eyes borrowing into the young, sky blue of the apprentice. The old mentor shook his head suddenly, ''you must go now,'' he advised pointing quickly with his nose in the direction of the alpha's den where Froedi and his Beta were just disappearing. Enilair turned back and nodded, ''aye, I should,'' he said standing. He wanted to go up and hug the mentor, but held back for some reason, it just didn't seem called for, this was a new territory in his life, he was leaving puphood behind, his tail shifted, it was an exhilarating thought. ''Till we meet again, master Greynan,'' Enilair said bowing neatly. A flicker of a smile crossed Greynan's silver muzzle, ''till we meet again young Enilair,'' he responded. The young wolf turned and loped quickly towards then Alpha's den using quick and efficient strides as Grthmé had taught him. Two wolves were guarding the entrance of the den, one Enilair recognized as the Beta's daughter and the other, a large blue and brown wolf, he had seen before but was unable to name. The male stood, ''Enilair, I presume,'' he said smoothly looking the young apprentice up and down keenly, ''you may pass,'' he said stepping back easily, ''and the best of luck to you,'' he said as Enilair bowed quickly and walked in. The female nodded and she too let him pass. Enilair could not help but feel his fur stand on end with the wolf's smooth movements and speech, but he did not have much time to contemplate, the alpha was standing before him.

Alistra managed to swallow one more lump of meat before her nerves totally took control, and her mind began racing worriedly. Despite having memorized the basic rules of stragetic ambush, it all suddenly fled her brain, and her muscles tensed up worriedly, her breathing quickening. If she couldn't remember what she'd worked on endlessly for the past few days now, how would she remember in the heat of battle? The recent confidence that had been flooding her only days ago had disappated quite substantially. Vaskra glanced over as she licked the last scrap of meat up from the ground. Her keen violet eyes caught the tense muscles, the flicking tail tip betraying the nervousness coursing through her apprentice. "Calm yourself, you have learned much the past days, and what your mind does not remember now, your muscles will remind you when you need it most" she assured her in a rare moment of pure compassion. Alistra jumped slightly, her ears flattening before she took a large shaky breath, letting it out. Her mentor was right. She had not learned all she had in vain. "Best not to worry over what we cannot control" Vaskra added more abruptly, getting to her paws and shaking her coat out. "The time has come, and the Alpha awaits us" she spoke as she stepped past Alistra, heading calmly towards the den bathed in sunlight. Alistra got to her paws and took another steadying breath. "A touch of fear makes a warrior more wary, and the heart more courageous, but doubt and worry drives all knowledge from your mind" she reminded herself under her breath, a phrase her father often used, although mostly in scolding terms. And with that strengthening reminder she strode after her mentor. It only took a few steps for her to realize that all wolves in the clearing were watching them silently, the young ones with looks of wistfulness and awe, the older with serious gazes. It struck her then truly. Today she became one of them, a warrior, no more a child of reckless rambunction, but a prized and respected member of the clan. Her head rose, ears angling forwards, tail lifting behind her as confidence flooded her, warm and filled with adrenaline. Boldly she turned her eyes to glance at those at the sidelines, and whenever gazes met, the warriors would give her a slight inclination of their head, silently wishing the pair success in their venture. And then the Alphas dark den loomed ahead. Sumar stood from where he sat by the opening, his expression serious, but his eyes alight with an excited fire. "The Alpha awaits you both" he said, inclining his head and stepping into the darkness.

Enilair nearly forgot himself a moment as the excitement and trill of the whole day was coming to its climax. This was the last step before departure! A low growl emitted somewhere from the shadows, the young wolf immediately recognized it to be his master Grthmé's and knew precisely what it meant. Embarrassment made the hair at the nape of his neck rise slightly and quickly he fell into a bow. ''You may rise apprentice Enilair,'' came the deep quiet voice of his alpha. The young wolf winced slightly at the undertone of mirth in Froedi's serious tone as he stood straight again, trying to gather up his shreds of dignity as he did so by standing tall and erecting his ears as stiffly as possible. Beside and slightly behind the alpha stood his beta Danathor, the sight of the dark colored wolf brought back the thoughts of his daughter and that other strange wolf, he couldn't even remember if he actually belonged to the Visdomr pack. Enilair's attention was snapped back into place when Froedi began to speak, ''young apprentice. The plan is set and your part within it has been established. All I can give you are a few pieces of advice that may, if properly heeded, save your life. The first is: do NOT follow your heart, it will more often than not deceive you and lead you down. a path which you should not go. The next is: listen and pay very close attention to Grthmé and Vaskra, but even more to Grthmé for you are his apprentice, remember that they have been doing these sorts of missions for far longer than you know, they also know about elves and their ways quite a bit more than most. That is all that I can give you for now. Return safely and in hopes with the boy. Farewell and may the north winds speed you.'' The old Alpha dismissed the master and his apprentice but called Grthmé back suddenly. Enilair was already too far away to hear what was being said. He passed out of the den and passed by the two young door guards again, his fur rose again but he managed to keep his pace controlled and not hasten on as he imagined a young inexperienced pup would as he slid past them.
