Eldor cautiously stepped out from behind the barrels, he straightened, ''I wasn't hiding, I just -thought I saw somthing,'' staggering forward a few steps as the ship heaved up and crashed down on a large wave.

That night as they were going to bed Eldor asked, ''so how long have you lived on this ship?''

Kastron thought a while. "For most o' my life, reckon. I don't remember not livin' here. I can't say I don't like it. I love sailing to new areas. Gets a bit dull on here after a while, perhaps." He crossed his arms behind his head. "Where 'dyou live?"

A dreamy look entered Eldor's eyes, ''I live far from the coast, up high in the mountains surrounded by tall pine trees, a clean breeze always blowing down from the west, raging rivers winding themselves around the land...., '' he trailed off suddenly lost in thought.

Kastron thought a moment. He had obviously seen trees, but pine tree? If Eldor really liked it there, why was he here? "Thats interesting.", said Kastron. "I've seen moutains before, but I never been on one. Some of them have white stuff on top. My father says it pieces of cloud that gets left behind when they pass over it. It isn't that though, is it?

Eldor broke from his reverie suddenly and laughed quietly, ''no its not, its snow, though the mountains I live on were too low for that.''

"I see.",said Kastron, even though he obviously did not see. "This snow, can you touch it? If it were, I'd like to lay on it. I imagine it's very warm and soft up there."

"Oh.", Kastron was disappointed. suddenly, he brightened. "Have ye ever seen a mountain that spits fire?", he asked suddenly.

Kastron nodded vigorously. "I've seen several. One day I might climb up one and look inside. I even saw one that spits blue fire. I have it drawn on my map.", he explained. "I think there's somethin' in it that makes it blue, but I don't know what."

''Sure when I was- oh about seven years old, the fellow I lived with decided it was a shameful thing not to know how to swim and threw me into the river, knew how to swim ever since,'' he said, eyes glazed slightly recalling the memory with a smile.
