Maple looked down at her paws a bit. She sighed, and she stood up, padding back over to her nest and laying down on it. Her eyes were slightly glazed, and she lay her head at the edge of her bed, as her ears became pinned. Why did Tern hate her so much? Maple wondered. And why did Maple have to confess her feelings to Juhi? That...that made things a bit awkward for Maple now

Tern frowned as Maple padded away, then quickly turned her expression to empty. Neutral. She'd only made a joke to the she-cat, and somehow Maple already had decided she didn't want to talk. Apparently even if Tern was ready to try, Maple wasn't. It was okay. She could wait. She could try.

Maple felt her eyes closed, and she slowly asleep...where she was thrusted into a dream, of her and Juhi being mates.

Goldfinch smiled as Blackberry launched her tiny kit body at her tail, batting at the twitching tip. She flinched as she dug her thorn-sharp claws into her tail. "Hey!" She teased, swatting a gentle paw at the black kitten, "No claws!"

Blackberry only giggled, scrambling away from her reach and fluffing up her tail. "I got you!" The kit announced, arching her back and grinning before she sunk into a poor imitation of a hunting posture. The kitten brushed her tail against the ground loudly and was making no attempt to stop laughing. When she jumped at Goldfinch's tail again, the she-cat caught her with ease. Blackberry had been following Goldfinch everywhere. She asked about ever herb, every leaf- specifically the ones that Goldfinch had passed to her brother to help with his breathing issues. Umber's wheezing cleared up easily with the right plants.

Juhi called back to Maple, "Can't catch me!" As they barreled through the woods. After an initial awkward period, they'd only grown closer and closer. Maple had started coming with her on every morning hunt. They'd started sleeping in the same nest. "Can't catch me!" She called again, purposefully slowing a bit to let the she-cat catch her.

Clover snorted as she watched the two she-cats try to clean their tailtips. "You're almost- what- eight moons old?" She teased, "And you can't catch your own tail?" Snowball glared at her, Snowflurry glowering alongsides her. Sky had departed nearly two moons ago- right when her kits had reached six moons of age. All of the kits had chosen to stay behind as the scarred queen slunk away into the shadowy forest. The littermates had gotten closer, especially Snowball and Snowflurry, the pair were inseparable. "You have to stop flicking your tail as you try to catch it." She said, trying to keep herself from laughing at the frustrated expression plastered on Snowball's face. To top it all off, Clover twisted, grooming her tail with clear ease.

Snowflurry let out a growl. "Snowball!" She hissed. "You never let me win!" She said, with a sad expression on her face. "It's not a race Snowflurry!" Snowball piped in as, Reign, and Cloudy (Flurry had changed his name once his mother had left, he didn't like sharing a name with his sister) Came racing over to them. "HEY!" Snowflurry squeaked, as Reign jumped on top of her tail. "You know the rules!" she hissed. "NO JUMPING ON TAILS!" Snowflurry growled, as Reign grabbed her sisters tail in her teeth.

Maple let out a hiss and raced closer. She was glad the awkwardness between her and Juhi had ended. It only took a moon, and then after another moon...Juhi had willingly asked Maple to share a nest. They were growing closer....much closer. Maple still felt really strong feelings for Juhi, but she had pushed them down when Juhi had told her she needed some time. But they were still there, they would always be there.

Robyn, lurked away from Sabra, before darting towards Blackberry. "BLACKBERRY!" She squealed. "mom says we need to come back for a grooming." She said. As the three kits had two mothers, they called Sabra mom, and Pixie mama. Robyn raced closer to her sister. "Blackberry, come on!" She said. "Mom said our pelts look like a birds nest!" she said

Blackberry rolled her eyes, "Your pelt looks like a bird nest!" She squeaked, "Not mine! Not mine! Mine's too short to get all tangly!" The she-kit tried to go back to attacking Goldfinch's tail, but the she-cat easily scooped the kit up, nabbing her by the scruff. The kitten squirmed and complained as the she-cat brought her over to Sabra, who tucked Blackberry close to her and began grooming her pelt.

Juhi smiled as Maple kept trying to gain on her, so she slowed some more, allowing Maple to get near enough to take the capturing leap.

Snowball smirked, following Clover's lead and pinning her tail, grooming it. "Ha!" She exclaimed proudly. "Why would I let you win?" She asked, her gaze sparkling with mischief, "I, personally love winning- I have no plans of giving up any wins really-" She broke off, yelping as Umber raced under her, knocking her paws out from under her. She landed on the ground in a heap with a groan.

Pixie smiled as Blackberry was plopped back down into their nest, Robyn following after her. "now, where is your brother?" Pixie asked. "I don't know mama" Robyn said. Pixie purred and she licked her mate. "I will be right back, going to find our son" She said, standing up and looking around. She soon found Umber playing with the older kits. She trotted over to him and picked him up off Snowball. "Sorry Snowball" Pixie said. "Umber knows its grooming time" Pixie said, as Umber squirmed under her grip. Pixie then padded back to her mate and two other kits.

Maple slowed. "Juhi..." she said. "can...can we talk?" She asked her. She was going to ask her about what she had brought up three moons earlier.

Snowflurry hissed and she jumped on Snowball, wriggling around with her

Juhi slowed nearly instantly, trotting at Maple's side. "Sure!" She chirped happily. She was happier now. She wasn't haunted by nightmares. She wasn't followed by a certain tom in her mind. Didn't jump at every shadow. She'd finally settled into life. Finally settled with her trauma.

Snowball let out a yowl of indignation of Snowflurry tackled her. She flipped over, baring her stomach while pummeling her littermate with her hindpaws- claws carefully sheathed. She quickly was able to shove her sister off her, leaping onto Snowflurry in turn.

Blackberry let out a whine, "But Mom, I just almost caught Goldfinch's tail! Do you know how hard her tail is to catch?!"

Sabra nodded to her mate, her tongue rasping as she untangled her kit's pelt. "You've told me dear." She purred, her eyes sparkling as she groomed Blackberry.

Maple shifted a bit. "The last two moons have been so magical" Maple started. "You and I....well...we've become closer" Maple said, as she sat down in a patch of sunlight. Her calico coat, shimmering in the light. "You even asked me to share a nest last moon" Maple said. "Now that we're closer, and Tern has actually excepted me...." Maple broke off a bit, and she looked down at her paws. "Juhi....I still have really strong feelings for you" Maple said. "I love you....more than a friend" she whispered a little bit.

Snowflurry hissed in anger, throwing her sister off, as Tern arrived with lunch, letting out a yowl stating that it was lunch time. "LUNCH!" Snowflurry yipped happily, throwing her sister off and racing over to Tern and purring. When Snowflurry first arrived three moons ago, Tern had become like a mother to the kit who's real mother had tried to drown her....and after Sky left, Tern adopted Snowflurry as her own daugther.

Pixie let out a soft purr as she returned and began to groom Umbers pelt

Juhi gave Maple a small smile, leaning in close to Maple's ear. "I do too." She whispered, her eyes shining. "I know in the past i've been so against having a mate but..." She blinked, swallowing nervously, "I think i'd like to be yours."

Snowball let out a yelp as she was thrown off her sister. She went to leap at her again but at Tern's yowl, she relaxed. Flattening her fur, she padded slowly after her littermate as Snowflurry dashed up to Tern.

Sabra smiled at her mate as she groomed her grumbling kit, who, as soon as she finished, darted off to dirty her pelt off again. She mumbled a few choice words under her breath that left Robyn gaping. "Don't repeat that." She added, with a pointed glare at the kits. Umber only looked at her, a mischievous gleam in his eyes.

Maple blinked a bit. "what?" she asked. "Juhi...I..." she stopped. "That's all I've ever wanted." she said, pressing against her. "I would love to be your mate" She whispered, licking her ears.

Snowflurry bounded around her adopted mothers paws. "I missed you Tern!" She said, sitting down as Tern dropped her a rabbit. She pressed into her and purred happily.
