Snowflurry pressed closer to Clover as an unknown cat padded up to them. She let out a little mew and just stared. “Mouse?” She asked, looking at Clover and then the unfamiliar cat. She still pressed close to Clover as a mouse was nosed towards her. Snowflurry picked the mouse up in her jaws and began devouring it so fast.

Maple looked at the cat. It didn’t answer. She hissed again, and the two leg picked her up gently. “We need to keep you somewhere you won’t get hurt” he said, placing her into a crate and shutting the door behind her. In the crate, there was a soft bed, some toys, a bowl of water, and a blanket. Maple padded over to the blanket and pushed herself under it.

Goldfinch smiled at the little kit. "Okay Snowflurry. We'll get you a mouse." It only took a few moments of hunting to catch one. She padded back to the pair of cats and nudged the prey towards the kit, who promptly began shredding the poor thing apart. "Where'd she come from?" Goldfinch asked Clover curiously.

"We aren't real sure." Clover replied, "We found her wandering about our barn. Her mother- Sky- Abandoned her because she was the runt."

Goldfinch's ears pricked forward, "There's a she-cat named Sky staying at my Mother's farm right now. She has three kits."

"Let me guess- Snow, Reign, and Flurry?" Clover asked dryly.

Goldfinch only nodded.

[Abbster]

Snowflurry's head instantly whipped up. "No!" she mumbled, pressing even harder into Clover. "don't let them take me back" she begged. "Snowball....Reign...and Flurry" she shuddered. "they hate me" she said, pressing closer to clover. "please don't let them take me" she begged again. "i...is there a tom...n...named Cloud?" she asked

Goldfinch tilted her head, "No. That's why she showed up, i'm pretty sure. She was a mess, blubbering something about a thunderpath." She looked at the tiny, trembling kit, "Your name is... Snowflurry, right? The kits were asking their mother over and over, 'Where's our sister?' Again and again they asked. She was never pleased when we overheard their questioning."

Clover gave the kit a reassuring lick after Goldfinch finished speaking, "Even when we get there, even when we see them, she won't hurt you. I told you, Juhi will never let that happen."

Snowflurry nodded. "ok" she said. "they...they miss me?" she asked suddenly, looking at Clover and then at Goldfinch. "what if my mother tries taking me back?" she asked. "I...I can't stay with them." she said. "wait....you said theres no tom named Cloud?" Snowflurry asked suddenly

Goldfinch smiled at the kit, "They miss you a lot." She purred.

Clover quickly interjected, "Juhi would never let them." She said firmly, "And neither would I."

Goldfinch gestured to Clover and Juhi, "I highly doubt they'll let you out of their sight when you're near her. Both of them have overprotection issues." She teased, "But yes, Sky said her mate had stumbled onto a thunderpath. He was not with them."

Snowflurry blinked. "My father...he was the only one who loved me.." she mumbled. "he tried to convince my mother not to drop me in that stream that day" She said, remembering the day. -flashback- "Sky! Don't do it!" Cloud said. Sky turned, Snowflurry hanging from her jaws. "Why not?" Sky hissed. "She's the runt of our litter!" she said, "what good will she do for us?" Sky asked, growling. She had set Snowflurry down on the grass as they were nearing the stream. Cloud glared at his mate. "Are you stupid enough to let our daughter drown?" he asked. Sky let out a hiss. "I will forever love her, but I can't take care of her! You see how small she is!" Sky said. "Cloud, I know you love her, and I know she's your favorite out of all of our kits...but what's the point in keeping her alive?" Sky asked, picking her up again, and dropping Snowflurry into the stream. "NOOO!" Cloud screeched. Sky just began padding away. "you coming darling?" Sky asked. Cloud nodded. "Be right there..." he said, leaping into the water, and pulling Snowflurry out. "Go" he said. Snowflurry stared at her father. "dada" she squeaked. "GO!" Cloud said again. "if you don't go, your mother will keep putting you in this water" he said, licking her ears. "I love you Snowflurry" Cloud said, before he turned, and raced towards his mate and three other kits. -end of flashback- Snowflurry began trembling. "my father saved me" she mumbled

"Sky never said your father was dead." Goldfinch added quickly, "She only ever said he was hit by a monster. With her mentality of 'only the strongest survive,' perhaps he was able to heal after she left." She didn't want to give the kit false hope, but it had almost been like the queen had been trying to convince the kits their father was dead. They'd never seemed to fully believe her.

Snowflurry nodded, still she didn't say anything, but snuggle against her friend.

It was night three of being in the two-leg house, which was when Maple was taken out of the crate. "alright" the two leg said. "your stiches have healed up nicely, and you're ready to return to your friends, just be more careful" he said, as he picked her up and walked her back out to the barn, placing her in the same place he had left her. Maple blinked thankfully at the two leg, before spinning around, and letting her eyes settle to the darkness. Her eyes landed on Juhi...fast asleep. She didn't want to bother her...but..."JUHI!" Maple squealed excitedly, racing over to her friend and licking her pelt

Clover lifted up her head at Maple's yowl, and she smiled widely. "Maple!" She Exclaimed, nudging the kit before uncurling herself from Snowflurry and running to sniff the she-cat's pelt, the kit in tow. She smelled... odd... Twoleggy. Maple was still trying to wake Juhi. "She won't wake for a bit." She said sheepishly, "She hasn't been able to sleep while you've been gone. Goldfinch has had to give her loads of poppy seeds so she'll get any rest at all. She hasn't eaten very much either." Speaking of Goldfinch- there she was- coming back from her nest behind the hay bales.

Goldfinch nodded at Maple, "Hello." She said politely, "I'm Goldfinch- Juhi might have told you about me? I'm one of Tern's kits." She added, walking up to the calico and sniffing at her wounds, then giving a faint smile. "The twolegs did well with these, they're healing well."

[Abbster]

"Hi" Maple said to her, then she looked at Goldfinch. One of Tern's kits. She smiled and then looked at her paws. "Wake her up" She said to Goldfinch. "Please" she said. "she's my best friend. She needs to know I'm back" Maple said. But when Goldfinch shook her head, Maple sighed. "fine" she mumbled, curling up beside her friend, and laying her head on her paws, closing her eyes for sleep. Maple woke up the next morning to find Juhi still sleeping beside her. Was there a point in waking her? Maple wondered. No. Juhi needed to wake up to Maple today. Maple smiled to herself, and curled up closer to her friend, closing her eyes and going back to sleep.

Goldfinch shook her head sadly. The poppy seeds would keep her under for a while, it wasn't her place to wake her. There was no way.

Juhi woke up slowly, blinking once, then twice. She could feel fur pressed against her back. Probably Clover. She continued her ritual of staring at the wall. There was no point really, in doing anything if Maple wasn't there. She thought she could smell her friend, but she was likely just tricking herself. There was no point in hoping. She did not move. She only stared at the wall.

Maple woke a little while later, and she nudged Juhi gently. "Good morning" Maple said to her friend, licking her ears lovingly. "Did you have a good sleep?" she asked.

Snowflurry yawned, then her heart sank. She had been told that the day Maple returned...they would be heading to Tern's barn...which meant she would be seeing her mother again, after two moons. She pressed against Clover and nudged her a bit.

Juhi was still staring at the wall when a cat nudged her. "Good Morning." Maple's voice said, and Juhi barely raised her head. "I'm dreaming." She mumbled, looking at the wall. Dream Maple licked her ears. She asked her if she slept well. But it couldn't possibly be real. Maple's scent was there. She must be dreaming. She must be. She must be. I need more poppy seeds. This cannot be real. She looked up once more. Just in case. Maple was there. Juhi got to her paws slowly. Very, very slowly. She reached a paw out, softly touching Maple's fur. Her eyes were still drowsy. "Are you real?" Juhi asked her, "Or am I dreaming?"

Clover woke up to Snowflurry nudging her, and she yawned, looking down at the kit. "Worried?" She asked her softly, "I promise i'll keep you safe." She murmured, flicking her tail over the kit's pelt.

Maple let out a purr. “Yes,” maple said. “I’m real” she said, leaning forward to lick her friend again. “I came back last night.” Maple said to her.

Snowflurry slunk by Clover and she nodded. “I love you Clover.” Snowflurry said, and meaning it. She fully felt safe with Clover, and she knew her mother couldn’t hurt her.
