Kennadee walked back to the barn and she lead Shadow into his stall, pulling off his saddle and then brushing him down. When she finished brushing him down, she gave him some extra water in his bucket. Then, she gave Shadow some hay before going to the barracks. When she got there, she smiled at Cass. “Hey, Cass” she said, heading over to get herself some water. She grabbed a glass and then poured some water in it before going over to sit in the arm chair next to Cass. “You ok?” She asked.

Cass' attention lingered on the letter's content for a moment longer, before she looks up as Kenn takes a seat in the armchair next to hers. "Hmm? Oh, yes I'm fine" she says, slipping the letter back into the open envelope. She closes the envelope again and slips it back into her pocket. Falcon flapped his wings slightly as he adjusts his position on her shoulder. Cass lifts her arm slightly to encourage the bird to climb up onto the back of the armchair instead. That way she'd be able to get up without throwing off the bird's sense of balance.

Kennadee looks at the envelope. “Whats that?” She asked her friend, who seemed to be coming her best friend. Obviously, Kennadee wasn’t about to say anything about that. She took a sip of her water and looked at her. “A letter from someone?” She asked. It was rare that Kennadee would get letters. Her father was dead, and her mother…well….her mother didn’t exactly care about her the way she used to. Ever since Kennadee told her mom she was going to join the tournaments, her mother had stopped talking to her.

"Yes, it's a letter. No need to worry about it though." Cass says, rising to her feet to make her way over to the bookshelf. She kept pretty much everything very close to the vest, especially if it was a personal matter. Which this most certainly was a personal matter. Even Gale only knew very little about her beyond the surface level, despite having known her for years at this point. She was probably just going to put this letter away in her desk and that would be the end of it. She didn't want anything to do with the person who had sent it. Not now. There was a time where she might have given and arm or a leg to have her back in her life, but not now.

Kennadee nodded as Glimmer flew through the window. She sighed as Glimmer landed on her arm chair. She looked down at the ground and pulled her knees close to her chest. All she wanted was for her mother to come watch her a tournament for once. For her mother to be proud of her, but she never was, ever sense she found out about the tournaments, she was never proud of Kennadee anymore.

"Something on your mind?" Cass asks, glancing back from the bookshelf for a moment. She seemed quiet all of a sudden. Which seemed unusual from what little she knew of the younger woman. She was usually quite exuberance, very different from Cass' reserved and stoic outward bearing. Hopefully nothing was bothering her. Cass wasn't exactly the best with emotions whether they be her own or others.

Kennadee looked up. "Hmm?" she asked. "Oh, nothing important" She said, smiling. She wasn't about to tell Cass that her mother didn't ever send her letters or ever contact her, or ever watch her tournaments...all because she told her mother she was going to be in the tournaments. Kennadee sighed. "Its just that my mom never comes to any of my tournaments" Kennadee said. "All because she doesn't want me doing it, and she hasn't talked to me since I left for my first tournament" Kennadee said. "But I've gotten used to it honestly"

"Such is life I suppose." Cass says, returning her attention to the bookshelf once more. She couldn't remember her own mother, not concretely anyway. Just a vague hint of a memory here and there from before she had been dumped on the doorstep of the orphanage. She picks up a book from the shelf and returns to the armchair in the corner to read. She tried to mostly ignore that aspect of her life, as best she could. She was on her own now, she had been since she turned eighteen and aged out of the orphanage. After that, she had needed to figure out everything on her own. And she had, she was here today. That was all she could have asked for.

Kennadee nodded a bit and sighed. She knew Cass was right. There was honestly nothing she could do about that. Sighing again, Kennadee rubs Glimmers head. “After lunch, I’ll probably do some training with Glimmer after we eat” Kennadee said. “How about we get something to eat and then do whatever?” Kennadee suggested, to Cass. She put the thought of her mother to the back of her mind so she could focus on the tournament.

"You can go ahead and get a bite to eat. I'm alright at the moment, but I can keep you company until you head out to train Glimmer. I'll be right here in the common room for a bit. But at five I've promised a group of squires that I'd show them a thing or two." Cass says. She wasn't overly hungry at the moment, but she knew that Falcon would be. So she'd get him a little something to ensure he wasn't going hungry. Her animals always came first. Always. There wasn't any question about that. There were plenty of days where she stuck to simply having breakfast and supper in favor of getting more done. It never did her any harm, provided she still made sure she was eating enough.

Kennadee smiled. “Thanks” she said. “Oh, would you mind getting something for Glimmer so she has eaten something before I work with her?” Kennadee asked as she began to get her lunch prepared. The good news was that the barracks always had some sort of soup in storage for the knights, so Kennadee could just have that.

"Certainly." Cass says, setting her book down. She makes her way over to the icebox, where she had stored the meat from the rabbit she had caught early that morning. She had already cleaned and prepared it, so now it just had to be cut into bite sized pieces so that neither bird would choke. She removes her dagger from her belt and gets to work slicing the meat into small strips. She was used to preparing meat for birds of prey by now, given that she had been looking after Falcon from the time he was but a tiny chick.

"Thanks" Kennadee said again, laughing a little bit. She finished up eating, and as Glimmer was still eating her meal, Kennadee stood up and grabbed a book off the book shelf. She began reading and waited until Glimmer flew over to her shoulder, sitting down on it. Kennadee laughed. "Alright, I'll see you later, Cass" Kennadee said, as she put her book away and left the barracks with Glimmer so she could train him for the tournament the next day.

Cass nods slightly, picking her book back up. She would be heading out soon enough herself to meet with the group of young squires. She had promised that she would teach them a thing or two and they would be expecting her. She was always prompt about these things. If she said she would be somewhere by a certain time, then she would be there by that time.

Kennadee walked to the bird training arena and she smiled to herself. It was time to really work Glimmer's tricks. They had a big tournament the next day, but she wasn't confident on the bird section what so ever. She allowed Glimmer to climb onto her arm, and then Kennadee thought for a second before lifting her arm up so Glimmer could go soring into the air. She looked around and found a perfect circular item. Kennadee held it up. "Glimmer" She whistled. Glimmer turned and soared through the hula hoop. Went under it, and then back through it
