Cass stirs slightly, easing herself up into a seated position. Sleeping on her back definitely wasn't the most comfortable position to be in, but until her wounds healed enough that she could put pressure on them she had to make do. "Morning" she says, rising to her feet. She leans over to pick up her sword and her dagger which she had laid beside her bedroll before turning in. She slips each one into the two scabbards, her dagger at her hip and the much larger greatsword at her back. Each movement seemed to cause fresh tendrils of pain to rack her shoulder due to how deeply the brigand's sword had cut into the sinew. But she did little to give that detail away. It was lighter now than it had been, suggesting that the sun was just starting to rise. Though it was still pretty dark out here.

''I think I'm going too go down to the river,'' he told Cassidy as he followed her out of the tent, ''sorry about waking you, I just didn't want anyone sneaking up and stealing our supplies while I am gone. He retrieved his bow and arrows as well as checked to be sure that his dirk was in place before starting out in the direction of the river. When he reached it and took a cold swim. After drying off he picked up his bow again and stepped quietly into the forest, there was a small chance that he could find a squirrel or something. After a few minutes of walking he spotted in the undergrowth, about twenty meters in front of him, a small brown rabbit was nibbling at the clover. Its tawny fur was beginning to turn white with the changing season, this fact made it a little easier to take aim at it. Swiftly and silently he set an arrow to his string, drew back and released. He got a lucky shot and was able to shoot the creature through the head. After skinning it and burying its remains he headed back towards the camp.

"No need to apologize. I had to wake at some point in any case. If we're to cover good ground then we'll need to hit the road in any case" she says. Though they would probably benefit from a day of rest first. But that could probably wait until they were in the city and could book a night's rest in an inn and perhaps a hot bath if they were lucky. She takes a seat by the fire, figuring there was still some time before camp needed to be dismantled and packed up.

On his way back Lockian cut a young green stick off a small tree. ''I was able to get us a young rabbit,'' he said holding his prize up when he had entered tot their camp. He maneuvered the coals of the fire around to create a good hot cooking fire and after placing their meat on the spit made of the green twig he began to turn it slowly and very soon the smell of warm meat wafted through the camp. Lockian could feel water filling his mouth, this was surely a treat after the pitiful things they had called 'meals' yesterday. ''What is the plan for today,'' he asked removing the meat and testing it with his fingers.

Cass turns her head slightly when she hears footsteps approaching the camp. She nods slightly, studying the rabbit for a moment. It wasn't much, but it was fresh and would surely taste better than the pitiful meal they had last night. If the amalgamation of dried meat, nuts and fruits they had brought could be called more than a glorified snack that is. "Fresh meat will probably do us both good" she says. The smell of roasting meat was definitely quite tempting. "Well... nothing concrete I suppose. We should probably dismantle camp and hit the road after we eat. Keep heading north. I think the nearest city is about a day to a day and a half's distance from here depending on how quickly we can move. If we can make it there by nightfall then we can see about getting actual rooms for the night and maybe baths if we're lucky. If not we'll have to make camp and reach there some time in the morrow" she says. If they could reach the city then that would mean actual amenities before the final leg of their journey to Lord Addaway's land.

''A warm bath is definitely something to look forward to,'' he said shivering from the memory of the freezing swim he had taken earlier. He deemed the meat cooked through and went back to the wagon to retrieve a couple of wooden plates and a very small pouch of salt. There was one good thing about living in a coastal city but even so, it still had been rather pricy, though it was a necessity to life itself so he had purchased a small amount. After sprinkle a small amount on the rabbit he handed Cassidy her share and began eating. It was plain but still good, if he did say so himself.

"Certainly... river water will do the trick in a pinch, but it just isn't the same." Cass says. The good thing about the freezing temperature of the river water had been that it had numbed her wounds some for when she had to stich them up. It hadn't been enough to make the process pain free, but it had taken the edge off in that moment. Warm water would feel so much better though. "Thank you," she says, taking the offered plate of meat. It still wasn't a proper meal, but it was much better than the dried jerky they had the night before. And it would help them to keep their strength up for the second leg of their journey. Especially considering they were both still recovering following that skirmish. She had no qualms with fighting where it was necessary, but if they could avoid another fight between now and their arrival at their destination, then that would be for the best.

It didn’t take long for Lockian to finish his breakfast. “I’ll just go back to the river and wash these out,” he said getting back to his feet and taking their platters. Quickly he made his way back to the river and after scrubbing the dishes with bank sand, rinsed them out thoroughly. He also took a quick drink from the fast flowing stream before returning back to camp. “Alright, i suppose it’s about time we got going,” he said beginning to kick out their fire.

"Aye... soon as we get camp packed up and the horse hitched we'd best get going. If we want to make it to the city by nightfall then we have to keep a good pace." Cass says as she worked on taking the tent down. It wouldn't be easy with the both of them injured, but they had the horse now. So at least they wouldn't have to worry about pulling the cart that whole way. The gelding seemed to be adapting remarkably well to having been passed off to two complete strangers. At the moment he was just peacefully grazing where she had tethered him to the tree the night before to ensure he wouldn't wander off. Hopefully in the city, they could get a proper harness for him instead of the makeshift rope one. And a saddle as well since Lockian would need one for him eventually.

Lockian nodded and patted the horse, ''hopefully we make it by that time, but I'm sure we will, this fellow is strong with a good set of legs, I think we will make it in good time... granted that all goes well and we dont happen upon any misadventures,'' he said thinking back to the latter events of the day before. He checked his arrows and dirk before slapping the horses's rump to get him going, ''we got to name the fellow,'' Lockian said to Cassidy once they had begun traveling, ''we can't just go about calling him 'fellow,' 'lad,' and 'horse,' though no doubt those names will find their way into our speech.

(It would appear so, sorry about that. I'll edit that momentarily)
"As long as we don't run into anymore brigands, we should hopefully make it before everything is closed for the night." Cass says as she checks over the map, keeping pace with the horse as she did so. It probably would have been beneficial for them to have a day of rest to begin to recover, but they only had limited supplies. They couldn't afford to pause for more than a night out here when they had a destination they had to reach before there rations could run out. "He's your horse now. You'll need one if you wish to be a mounted archer. You can name him whatever you'd like" she says. True, she had been the one to obtain the horse, but she had done so mainly because she knew he'd need one. And all she'd done to obtain it was throw a few threats around once the brigands could see that she had the might to back up any threat she made towards them.

(oh its fine haha)
Hmm generally thugs and such types came out under cover of darkness but those other fellows back there had been quiet cocky, there was no saying that they wouldn't run into another band like that, maybe even a larger one, five had been enough to nearly get them but now they were in want of one fighter plus their wounds. Lockian shook his head they'ed take what would come he supposed. ''Hmm, I never was one good with names, it was actually my sister who named Grettir,'' he laughed, ''she read some book about this northman who would perform great feats of might and main,'' Lockian shook his head, ''suited the dog I suppose,'' he said more quietly. He shook his head to clear himself of these thoughts, he really appreciated Cassidy thinking to get him the horse, it would make joining a calvary band way easier. Now their only foreseeable obstacle was to get to the Lord Addaway.

"I wish I could say I'd be of much help... but I barely remember my own name." Cass says with a mirthless chuckle. That was one of the few things she did remember, aside from her birth year for who knows what reason. She glances up from the map to look at the dapple grey stallion. "Maybe Smokey... or Phantom on account of him being a dapple grey" she suggests, turning her attention back to the map. Unfortunately, it seemed the best she could offer was a distraction after he lost his canine companion. Emotions... they didn't seem to be her strong suit. She barely knew what to do with her own at this point given that she felt like a hollow husk of a being. But she would try her best to at least provide a distraction. A horse would probably help with that. It would need to be cared for after all.

She did have a point Lockian thought, but phantom... he liked the name and it had a very sinister ring to it that he liked. ''I like Phantom,'' he patted the horse, ''I think Phantom fits well.'' After a little while he turned to Cassidy, ''do you... do you believe in things like that? Phantoms or fantasy creatures and such things I mean.'' He could never say that he had actually ever seen one, there were times when he thought he saw one, like an elf or something but generally he would brush these off as figments of imagination. Such things weren't real... right? He wondered at what Cassidy's opinion on the subject was, she always had a sensible answer to such things.

"Phantoms? No, I can't say I believe in them. Nothing but stories made up to scare children into staying in bed at night. As for other fantasy creatures... well some of the tales have more merit than others. But you mustn't believe everything you hear about them" Cass says, glancing up briefly from the map. There were many fantastical creatures in this world, but she strongly doubted the existence of ghosts. Death was... well death. It was just so final. The dead didn't come back to haunt the living as far as she was concerned. But elves? Well if they didn't exist, neither would she. She knew little of whom her parents might have been, but one of them had to have been an elf. There was no other way to explain her slightly pointed ears, though the tips were hidden by her hair, so Lockian probably couldn't have noticed just yet. And since she rarely smiled, if she had all since stumbling upon this town, her sharp, pointy canine teeth would have remained hard to notice as well. Perhaps if he had, he'd have been more wary of her. Not many people seemed to have met elves or half-elves. Though in truth, they weren't very different from the humans that roamed this earth.
