The man gave a half smirk and his eyes glinted darkly, at this point he did not even feel the cold seeping into his back, “may I return the question,” he asked softly the dare evident in his expression. He coughed again but he had been in tighter spots, much tighter. Lockian watched this exchange impassively, he didn’t feel any pity towards the man and did not think Cassidy harsh in the least. He leaned against the horse.

"I think I'll take my chances." Cass responds flatly. She turns her gaze over to Lockian before nodding in the direction of the man. "Can you hold him down for me for a moment while I retrieve some rope?" She asks. She had some rope tied to the saddle. If their perpetrator was going to make this difficult, she would need to restrain him for what was to come.

The man’s breath was even shorter now for lack of air and started to take on a wheezing tone, though otherwise he didn’t even seem to have heard Cassidy’s statement. Lockian approached and stooped to pin the man’s lower arms whilst placing his knee at the other’s chest. As Cassidy went to retrieve the rope he took this opportunity to get a better look at the man. He was middle aged but still young, thirty perhaps, he had a proud face and his features were stern. He didn’t look mean, just determined, with blazing eyes. Lockian looked at him impassively.

Cass makes her way over to the horse she had borrowed and untied the rope from the saddle. With the rope in hand, she makes her way over and kneels beside the other man and Lockian. She wraps the rope around his waist and ties it tight, making sure the knot was properly secured. She'd probably kneed to bind his ankles too for added security.

Lockian stepped off and assisted Cassidy in tightening the knots. During which the man made no resistance nor protest, he wasn’t so foolish as to force a two to one fight, but he did purposefully stiffen his legs and body. His breathing normalized by now and he had ceased coughing. Lockian could tell that his teeth were gritted and there was a crease between his dark brows but still he remained silently. But Lockian knew that neither Cassidy nor himself were being gentle during this period.

"There we go... should be tight enough now." Cass mutters, forcing the man into a seated position. "Only questions remains is what to do with him now. We don't exactly have the proper tools that one might use to get answers out of a reluctant perpetrator. But if we get a bit creative, I'm sure we can work something out" she says, tightening her grip on the collar of the man's shirt. They needed to get answers out of him one way or another if they were to avoid hours of searching.

The man’s hair was rather tousled at this point and a few strands fell over his brow. A ghost of a smile suddenly crossed his face, and swift as it came the man quickly bent and bit Cassidy’s hand hard, then gave her a challenging what-are-you-going-to-do-about-it look. Lockian raised and eyebrow, this guy had cheek to be sure, some people would give the death penalty from receiving such treatment from a captive and one wholly in their power, but as the fellow had said, death was not something he feared.

Cass quirks an eyebrow slightly in response, her expression remaining impassive as she wordlessly inspects the damage to the leather glove she wore. He hadn't managed to bite through it thankfully. Though she could see the imprint of teeth in the leather. And it was a new pair too. Without missing a beat, she draws her sword and knocks him back down with the pommel of her sword. "Try me. I won't take that kind of treatment" she says.

Now was when the man released his stiffness causing his bonds to ease the smallest mite. He grunted against the impact of the metal ball and could feel a welt rising from where it knocked him, “and you seem to have no qualms at dealing it out,” he retorted. Even the time she had slid off her horse and knocked him down the first time he knew he could have easily run or given retaliation, she was a girl after all, but he didn’t, knowing that he had the advantage of superior physical strength even towards the other man, at least this was what was going through the man’s mind. He glared back at the both of them, some white teeth even showing, his determination to stay quiet more resolved than ever. All I need is one second, he thought, just turn your backs for one moment.

"None whatsoever. Not when the other party is deserving of it anyway. You bit me. Like an animal. You can't honestly expect me to believe there wouldn't be consequences for such actions." Cass retorts, leaning over to check his binds. He had been awfully stiff. "My my, aren't you a clever one. Too bad it won't do you any good if we notice" she mutters, tightening the rope that was binding him.

“And you jumped me like one desperate. You don’t even have proof that I did whatever it is you’re accusing me of,” he said with a sneer, “a man’s got to defend himself with what weapons he has available,” he argued coolly. “My my aren’t YOU the perceptive one,” he mocked back. He winced slightly as the ropes were pulled taunt again. “What are we to do with him,”. Lockian asked, rather exasperated by all this. He didn’t know if they would ever be able to drag anything from this guy.

"And you don't have any proof that you didn't do it either, now do you? If you weren't guilty of something at the very least, then you'd have no reason to be hiding out here or evading questions." Cass replies, straightening up again now that his binds were tight. "We're seemingly wasting our time questioning him. I suppose the best course of option is find a way to contain him while we search for the girl ourselves. Then we can take him back to the king so he can deal with him. Preferably before I do it myself" she mutters. He was really getting on her nerves with his attitude and part of her just wanted to put a stop to that.

The man raised an eyebrow, “really? That is why you have been bashing me up and throwing me to the ground,” he asked incredulously, a mirthless smile playing at his lips. “For one thing, I haven’t been ‘evading questions.’ I’ve answered all you asked, though it seems that you don’t care for my answers overmuch. And as to what I’m doing out here, what is it to you if I live out here, I’m a trapper by trade, and furs are my business, if you must know. Very well, take me to your king, I’ll present my case before him, and he will see that you really have nothing against me. And that I’m wholly innocent,” he added as an after thought, a triumphant smirk spread plainly across his features. Lockian’s face twisted with frustration, he knew that this was the fellow who kidnapped Silvia, or at least the middle man.

"Oh you'll see the king. Eventually. But first we have to find the girl. As for your innocence, we'll see. I wholly doubt you are as innocent as you claim." Cass mutters. He'd probably need to be tied to the horse so they could search for the girl. That way they could keep an eye on him.

The man rolled his eyes, he didn’t even bother saying anything at this point, it was useless arguing with this girl. Lockian nodded and linked his arm with the man. His purpose was to hoist the fellow to his feet, a seemingly simple task and would have been had Lockian possessed the height of the other. It also didn’t help that the man was giving absolutely no help. The man just looked at Lockian as if he were the most pathetic being to walk the planet. Exasperated, Lockian dropped the guy and kicked his leg, “alright, just get up,” he said irritably. Leisurely the man did, staring at Lockian until he was standing, a full head above Lockian.
