"True... I suppose it must have been quite a bad wound." Cass says pausing. "Arm's still attached though... so I guess I'll take what I can get" she says. If injuries got bad enough then sometimes limbs needed to be amputated. A crippled arm she could live with, her left could make up for the shortcomings of her right. But with only arm? She wasn't sure what kind of a life she could live at that point. Nobody would spare a mercenary with only one arm so much as a second glance. And she wasn't sure what other work she could pick up at that point. The fingers on that hand were stiff, and achy half the time. If she overdid it with that arm, chances were she'd be in a fair bit of pain. But it seemed her tolerance for pain was pretty high. She had been ignoring it for the most part so far, alongside the other fresher injuries that were in various stages of healing. It bugged her that she didn't know what had left her in this state. Clearly something had happened recently. Though even before that she had apparently been no stranger to injuries.

Lockian had forgotten about Cassidy's odd case of amnesia, he turned his attention back to the flames, ''seems like that's the best way to go about things these days,'' he said shrugging. He looked back at her with a confused expression on his face, ''may I ask, how did you say you got here again, meaning what transported you here?'' For some reason he could not remember wether she had told him earlier the other day that it was by ship or not. If it was.... that would have been just plain strange. But of course his memory might have been serving his mind wrong, his mind had been on ocean things more often lately, he may have just gotten mixed up.

"You may ask... but I'm afraid I've got no answer for you. I can't remember anything before I came to in the infirmary in town. If the physician's are to be believed, I stumbled into town all bloodied and bruised late one night just a couple of days ago. How I got in that state though, I haven't the faintest clue." Cass says, staring into the fire. She had left the infirmary yesterday despite the protests of the physician. But he had thought better than to try and restrain her, likely realizing that even if he tried, she still had enough fight in her that it wouldn't end well for him. And so he had just watched as she stalked off down the cobblestone street. And shortly after that, she had run into Lockian in the woods. All she knew about herself was her name, and that apparently she must have been some kind of soldier given that she had a sword on her person.

Lockian was rather embarrassed with himself at not remembering that detail and causing Cassidy to repeat herself, but all this still intrigued him greatly, but as there was no way of finding out what had happened at that moment he decided to push the matter to the back of his mind for later contemplation. He listened as the flames cackled softly in the hearth, ''hmm that is strange indeed,'' he said, this could mean that she was from around here, there were quite a few barons and lords in the area so she could have come from any of them, agh there he went thinking about it again, the mystery was enough to make a man go crazy.

Cass nods slightly, bringing a hand up to rub her forehead absent-mindedly. "Such is life I suppose" she says, leaning back slightly in the armchair so that her back was resting against the plush back of the chair. The sound of the rain coming down outside and the crackle of the fire was peaceful at least. With all the turmoil in her life at the moment, some peace and quiet was greatly appreciated. The sun was hidden by the thick cloud cover, making it appear to be much later than it actually was. Though she knew the sun wasn't to set for several hours yet. It was probably noon to maybe one o'clock in the afternoon at the latest. She wasn't sure exactly what time it was though.

Lockian nodded his mouth turning into a half smile, a very philosophical catchphrase, I wonder at how she could have acquired it, he thought to himself dryly. ''When do you plan on leaving on your search for work,'' he asked suddenly. He knew that if the rain progressed into the night then a lot of the roads would flood, therefore not allowing them to travel very easily, or at least not with the comfort of a clean path. He still planned on going with her, in fact he had been thinking about it earlier that morning and had solidified in his mind that he was definitely not going to stick around and work at the inn for any longer than he had to.

"Once the rain lets up I suppose... assuming the roads are fit for travel. Will need to pick up supplies first of course." Cass says. A tent would be a must, as well as a bedroll and provisions for the road. She wasn't sure exactly how far the nearest baron or lord was from this town, but chances were that it was more than a single day spent on the road, especially since she would be on foot. She didn't have a horse, or a wagon, so it would be slow travelling. If the roads were flooded, that would mean she'd need to wait a bit longer to set out. "Are you still wanting to come along?" She asks. She wasn't sure if he actually wanted to, or if that had just been a thought in the moment.

''Definitely,'' he said giving a decisive nod of his head, ''I am not sticking around here longer than need be, I'll never get anywhere here. Enlisting into a private army I might be able to raise myself a bit, promotions and the like, though I know it will be tough work considering.... Well in truth I honestly don't know much about these sorts of things. I mean, I grew up as a merchant's son, so of course I grew up with my share of luxury, although I have gotten perfectly used to being without large incomes,'' he said with a self-amused smile, ''I just don't know what to expect,'' his hands moved restlessly across his lap but otherwise his expression was calm. He wished he could have had more experience in such matters but he knew that all too soon the time come.

"I suppose we'll see how you feel about roughing it then. We won't have access to much on the road. And there's always the chance we'll run into brigands or the like." Cass says. Even if he had gotten used to life without the luxuries wealth provided, making camp would probably still be a step down for him. Unless he had made camp like that before. She couldn't remember anything of her life before this, but she knew that it couldn't have been easy, given the amount of scars that marred her pale skin. But as long as she could make a fire and make camp, then all would hopefully be fine.

''Well I'm willing to give it the old go,'' he said with a shrug, ''besides two is a good number, I watch your back you watch mine, we should hopefully make it in one piece. And of course I plan on bringing Grettir, hopefully he will make himself useful,'' he said throwing the dog a glance. Grettir's ears slowly came up then flattened again as he gave a grunt. ''By the way, what do you plan on trying to enlist yourself into? Meaning do you want to be infantry, heavy or light calvary, or are you seeking a leadership position?'' He didn't exactly know where he wanted to do except for the fact that it had to be something with a bow, he knew that he could also teach the very basics of sword fighting, but only the merest basics.

"True... it never hurts to have someone to watch your back." Cass says, running a hand through her hair. "Truth be told, whatever position I can get for now. With my past a mystery, I haven't a clue what my credentials are. So I'll probably have to start with an entry level position. How about you? What position are you looking for? I recall you mentioned that you aren't well versed with a sword" she says. She supposed he could always learn how to use a sword, but it wouldn't be easy at first. He seemed to be more suited to fighting from a distance than up close and personal.

''Hmm I didn't think about that fact,'' he said rubbing his forehead, ''I was thinking calvery archer,'' he said, ''I like the fact that they are very mobile and are therefore able to position themselves more easily and effectually, but as you mentioned, I suppose I may need to start out as a minor archer, besides I don't even have a horse as of yet and I'm sure that would be a requirement,'' he said rather ruefully.

"Yes... a horse would most likely be a requirement for that. But it shouldn't be too hard to come by a horse. We're bound to pass through a city or larger town on the road. Someone there is bound to be selling horses." Cass says. A good strong horse would make it easier for him to earn a position as a cavalry archer, even if only a minor one. Horses weren't cheap, but she could lend what little gold she had if he needed it. She was fine on foot for the time being. Her ankle was mostly healed by now, though apparently according to the physician she had sprained it prior to stumbling into town alongside various other injuries, some arguably more serious than that. But they were all healing and she couldn't afford to wait around longer than she had to. So once this storm passed, she had to get moving. The sooner she could get a job, the better off she might be.

''That is what I'm hoping for,'' he said. Suddenly he stood up quickly, his restlessness not allowing him to sit any longer, ''I'm going to check the weather,'' he told Cassidy before he turned and walked purposefully to the window, the rain seemed to be slowing but had not stopped yet. In truth this talk had been firing his imagination and now he was restless to be off. Of course he knew that even if the storm stopped off at that second they wouldn't be able to leave yet but since he wasn't doing anything his more active metabolism was causing him to be uncomfortable sitting. He came back to the fire and leaned forward against the back of his chair rather than sit down, ''rain's letting up some,'' he reported.

"Might be able to set out in the morning then... gather what we need and then hit the road." Cass says. They would need to set out bright and early to have time to pick up a the supplies to pitch a tent, two bedrolls, a couple of waterskins, and whatever provisions they could get their hands on. It would mean they'd probably be eating pretty poorly, since they could only carry what would keep well. That meant dried, salted meats, dried fruit, and nuts for the most part since fresh meat, fruits, or vegetables wouldn't stay fresh out there. She'd probably see about picking up some bandages and an antiseptic agent as well if she could, in case of injuries out on the road. There was a good chance they could run into brigands out there and that would mean a fight, unless a well placed threat could get them to back off.
