Skylar let out an inward sigh of relief, she was alright, he thought concern leaving his face. Skylar smiled, “just wonderful,” he said honestly touching her forehead against his and licking her nose.

Winter smiled. “I love hearing that” she said. She looked down as Eclipse waddled over to her father and let out a small sneeze. Winter chuckled. “She’s going to be the adventurous one.” Winter said. “Eclipse, come back to mama” winter said. Eclipse gazed around. Of course the small pups eyes weren’t open yet so she couldn’t. “Skylar, will you ?” Winter asked

Skylar could not help but laugh as Eclipse tried to go off on her own, “yes she will be,” he said chuckling. “Yes, of course,” gently he lifted the squirming thing in his mouth and gently set it down beside her siblings. “When do you think they will start talking,” he asked.

Winter thought for a second. “I’m not sure. “Maybe a few days after they open their eyes?” Winter thought. “I think my mother said I started talking a day after I opened by eyes.” Winter pointed out. “But she also said it all depends on the pup.” Winter said.

Skylar smiled, ''I can't wait, I wonder what their first words will be.'' He glanced outside and noticed the light fading, ''it's getting dark,'' he said, ''we should get some sleep.'' He laid near Winter and the pups, wanting to give both the benefit of his thick warm coat.

Winter smiled and nodded. "I hope they say dada." She whispered to her mate as she snuggled up close to him and lay her head on her paws once more.

Skylar smiled, ''maybe, but I'll bet it will be mama or mommy,'' he said looking at his mate. He laid his head down beside hers and was soon sleeping, though he did half wake up a couple of times in the night to the whimpering of their pups as the repositioned themselves in sleep.

Winter slept soundly that night, awaking again the next morning. She smiled and gazed down at her lovely pups. Still sleeping soundly. She thought with a smile. She nuzzled their heads lovingly and then licked them before she turned to Skylar and began to groom him gently.

Skylar awoke to the gentle touches of his mate, “good morning,” he said after yawning. He licked her, “your up early,” he said smiling down at the bunched up pups.

Winter chuckled. "I know" She said. "Couldn't get myself back to sleep, and I just kept staring at them." she said

''They are just wonderful,'' he said watching them, he still couldn't believe he was a parent now, but the fatherly instinct were starting to kick in slowly he stood and stretched. ''What do you think we should plan for the day?''

Winter chuckled a bit. "Darling I can't do anything." Winter pointed out. "If I leave, a wolf from the pack could easily come and...find them." She said. "I can't risk leaving our little darlings." She said. "That would be cruel." she said

“No of course not, and I didn’t mean that. I meant more…,” he looked around a bit, “well we have to get this place ready for when the pups get older, like clean it up a bit, we can’t have sharp bones lying around for them to find and hurt themselves. We also need to get some fresh bedding soon.”

Winter sighed. She felt as if there was so much to do. "Yea...I know." She muttered. "I mean, I just gave birth yesterday, don't you think we could just spend the day relaxing?" Winter asked her mate as she nuzzled their sleeping pups again.

Skylar went and nuzzled his mate, “darling Winter, I wasn’t going to make you do it. Most definitely not, I’m not going to let you do anything strenuous until you are fully recovered,” he said looking at her tenderly. “But as you say, it could wait, this is only their second day entering the big wide world.”
