"They haven't even opened their eyes yet." Winter said gently as she didn't want to wake her pups from their adorable sleep. She gazed at her mate and then down at her pups again. "Look at them." She said. "So peaceful." she smiled.

Skylar smiled, can you believe that we were that young and small once,'' he said watching them sleep, all bundled together in their mottling of white and black fur, ''just looking them makes me feel twice as old as I am,'' he chuckled.

Winter let out a small laugh. "Skyalr, you're only a year older than I am, you're not that old yet honey." She said. "We're young parents yes, but that doesn't make us old!" She said, with a nuzzle to her mate. "I know it feels so strange to think that we have pups now, but we're still young." She said

Skylar laughed, ''your right,'' he said with a smile, ''how old were your parents when you were born,'' he asked, ''were you and your siblings their first litter?''

Winter thought for a second. "I don't remember." She said. "I think my mother was....well she was young, she was younger than us." Winter said. "My mother was three, and I think my father was....maybe six" Winter said. "And yes, my littermates and I were their first litter." She said with a chuckle. "you?" she asked

Skylar's eyes widened, ''three! That is young,'' he said in surprise. ''My brothers and I were also the first litter,'' Skylar answered, ''but they were a few years older than us, my mother was about eight and my father ten I believe. I remember the pack was very surprised when they found out that she was pregnant. By the way, I didn't tell you this earlier but I named Lichen after my mother, she was always a kind a considerate wolf, always putting other's needs before her own,'' he said with a fond smile.

Winter smiled. "Oh Skylar" She whispered, pressing her muzzle into him. "I bet she would love that." She said. Winter suddenly went quiet. Talking about her parents made her a bit sad. She gazed down at the ground and sighed a little bit.

''I know she would,'' Skylar said. He looked over at the pups, ''I wish she could meet them.'' Skylar noticed his mate's sudden silence, ''are you alright,'' he asked gently.

Winter nodded. "Yea, talking about my parents just made me think about them." Winter said. "Thats all." she muttered

''I'm sorry,'' Skylar said, face filling with concern, ''I should have thought about that before starting the conversation,'' he said pressing his head against hers.

"It wasn't your fault!" Winter promised. "It was mine for not telling you" she said. She licked her mates ear. "I promise, I'm ok...besides, I did name Avalanche after my brother." She said with a smile

Skylar smiled and licked her back. “Did you? Well that is wonderful, I bet he would like that a lot,” Skylar smiled. “Do you remember when we found this place,” he asked, eyes bright with the memory, “it really wasn’t that long ago.”

"Of course I do!" Winter said. "I was only about a week or so pregnant at the time." She said. "I had left everything i knew and loved to be with you." Winter said, with a bright smile. "And I'm glad I did"

Skylar smiled as he thought back to the time both of them, weary from long travel, walked into the beautiful moonlight clearing, ''of all the decisions ive made, leaving everything to be with you is the one im most sure about,'' he said looking at her warmly.

Winter blushed a little bit. “That means a lot to me.” She said with a nuzzle to her mate. “I think it was the best choice for both of us.” Winter said, licking his muzzle.
