When Nightstar finally finished nursing, Midnight watched her as she stumbled back to the grass for sleep again. Midnight followed suit and she closed her eyes and fell asleep again. When she woke up later on, Stardust was grazing a few feet away. "Stardust." Midnight whispered. Stardust picked up her head and trotted over to her mother. "Go get Beauty, Nutmeg and Harley." she said, nuzzling Nightlight. "You're ready to let them meet Nightstar?" she asked. Midnight nodded, Stardust smiled and she turned, galloping towards her sister, mate, and little cousin. "Are you ready to meet your little sister?" Stardust asked. Beauty looked at her older sister wide eyed. "yes!!" she squealed. "wait, is mom ok?" she asked. Stardust nodded. "Yea, Nightstar was born last night." she said, leading her sister, Nutmeg, and Harley over to the new filly.

Twilight nuzzled her sister lightly as she fell back asleep. She woke up in the morning to the sound of hoofbeats, looking over quickly to see her daughter, nieces and nephew in law cantering over. "Are they coming to meet Nightstar?" she queried, nuzzling Midnight.

Midnight nodded. Beauty trotted after her older sister. Her eyes landing on a very tiny filly. Her breath caught in her throat when she saw her. She cantered the rest of the way to her mother and hugged her. "Oh mom" Beauty nickered. "She's adorable" Beauty nickered, nuzzling her little sister. Harley came trotting up beside Beauty. "what did I tell you?" he said to her. Beauty looked at him and hugged him. "Wait!" Beauty stopped. "I gotta go tell Song!!" She said, galloping and running to her oldest cousin, her ears pricked forward, and her tail waving excitedly. "SONGBIRD!!" She squealed, when she saw her older cousin. "SONGBIRDDDDDD!!!!" Midnight laughed. Then, she nuzzled Nightstar again. "she's so small." Harley said. "she is.." Midnight mumbled. "but she'll grow, just like Nutmeg did" she said, gazing at her niece proudly Nightstar |

Twilight smiled as her nieces trotted over, her daughter racing alongside Beauty and passing her. "When can she play?" she asked Midnight abruptly as she slid to a stop in front of the little brown filly. "What's her name? Does she know who I am?" she fired more questions quickly, glancing from her mother to her aunt for answers.
Songbird was grazing with Buttermilk, who was acting oddly nervous that day, jumpy and gulping whenever he looked at her. Strange stallion. But lovably so. Suddenly her youngest, or so she thought, niece came racing up, all out of breath. "Woah there, what's going on?" she asked with a laugh, Buttermilk lifting his head and pricking his ears curiously.

"my mom foaled early." she said. "Anyway she's ok. COME ON! YOU HAVE TO MEET YOUR NEW LITTLE COUSIN!!" Beauty squealed, turning around and galloping back to her new little sister, just in time to hear Nutmeg asking all these questions. "WELLL" Beauty almost screamed. "Whats her name!?" She asked along side her cousin.
Midnight took a shaky breath. All these questions. Jeez. "Well for one thing, she'll need to get strong way before she can play as she was born 2 months early." Midnight said. "And, we've decided to name her Nightstar. So she has a little bit of your grandpa in her name." Midnight nickered. Beauty smiled. "OHHH!!" She said, pressing against her little sister. "I love it!!" she nickered. "Not to hard." Midnight warned. "she's very weak and fragile right now." Beauty nodded. "oh, and not yet Nutmeg, she doesn't know who you are, but she will." Midnight said, nickering to Nightstar, who woke up and was gazing around

Songbird's eyes widened. "WHAT?!" she whinnied in shock, then nodded, glancing to Buttermilk who looked uncertain and nodding "You can come, you know that" she said softly, and he nodded, paused for a moment, then cantered after Beauty. Songbird quickly caught up with him and they arrived a few seconds behind her cousin.
Nutmeg's eyes widened and she looked at the filly with a new caution in her eyes, then glanced at Midnight with a smile. "That's a perfect name!" she said energetically, then leaned forward very carefully and touched her nose to Nightstars nose for a moment, then withdrew. Songbird stepped forward as well, Buttermilk behind her. "Aunt Mid, that's a wonderful name! And she's beautiful!" she said gently. Twilight smiled as her daughters began getting aquainted with their new cousin. She nuzzled Midnight gently "Songbird's right, she has your beauty!" she said with a grin. "And you're right as well, she will grow big and strong in a few months!"

"heyyy" Beauty said, laughing. "BEAUTY IS MY NAME!!" Stardust laughed. "she was just saying Nightstar has moms beauty, thats all." Stardust explained, nuzzling her little sister lovingly. "I'm so glad you're all here to see her." Midnight nickered. Nightstar gazed around, uncertainly. "Its ok, Nightstar." Midnight nickered to her small daughter. "this is your family." Beauty suddenly interrupted her mother. "Can we see her stand??" she begged. Midnight looked nervously over at Twilight. She didn't know what to say. "Yea!" Harley chipped in. "Let's see her stand!!" he agreed. Stardust gave her mate a warning look, and he pinned his ears slightly. Midnight gazed at her mate and then at Twilight again. Her eyes saying, what should I do. Specks, Stardust, Twilight, Rusty, and Sunlight, all knew how weak Nightstar was, and how wobbly she was on her skinny legs. Midnight didn't want to let them down, but Nightstar couldn't stand without help.

Nutmeg quickly chimed in unknowingly with Beauty "Ooh yes pleeeaasseee?" she begged, her eyes on her newest cousin, and not on the looks the grownups were casting around. Twilight frowned, glancing around. How could Midnight get out of the uncomfortable situation? Poor Nightstar definitely wasn't ready to stand yet, not with how small she was. Suddenly, an unexpected voice spoke up cheerfully. "Hey Beauty, maybe we should give your new sis some breathing space first? She's looking pretty nervous from where i'm standing, and you don't want to scare her so much that she won't be able to race us later!" he said with a grin, moving forward and bopping Beauty with his nose, then glancing over at Nutmeg, who tilted her head. "But why would she get scared?" she questioned. He chuckled. "Well, if i know you two energetic youngsters, then as soon as she stands you're both gonna squeal, and then she'll plop right back down all scared" he explained. Nutmeg sighed, but nodded. "Well ok, i'm fine with that for today i guess, I probably didn't stand my first day, did I mama?" she asked, glancing over. Twilight smiled, first at Buttermilk who blushed slightly at the approval in her eyes, then at Nutmeg. "You're right sweetie, you didn't stand much except when you had to nurse the first day." she said simply.

Nightstar gazed around nervously, then she looked at her mother. Midnight looked down at Nightstar with warm eyes. “Oh please mom!!” Beauty begged again. “I want to see her stand!!!” Beauty clearly hadn’t herd with buttermilk had said. “Come on Nightstar, you can do it! Stand for your big sister” she said. “Pleaseeeeeeeeeeee” Midnight felt her ears flatten. What would she tell beauty. That her sister was to weak to stand? Midnight was about to give in, when Harley spoke up. “Hey” he said to Buttermilk. “What do you say we challenge these two youngsters to a game of tag” he said, his eye’s sparking. Obviously understanding that Nightstar wasn’t ready to stand yet. Midnight shot him a greatfull look. “OH ITS ON!!!” Beauty squealed, tagging her brother-in-law on the butt and she went galloping off. Midnight let out a breath of relief when the others followed. Midnight looked at songbird. “I can try to get her to stand to nurse, but only because you won’t go crazy when she stands and Stardust has already seen how wobbly she is”

Nutmeg's eyes glittered and she pounded after Beauty and Harley. Buttermilk was a few seconds behind, pausing to glance to Songbird, then with her nod, racing after the others. Songbird watched with pride warming her heart as Buttermilk raced after her younger sister, glad for his involvement. He always knew what to say. Hearing her aunt, she glanced down and smiled "Oh that would be amazing!" she said gently, then nodded "And I understand, it's only natural for a filly born so early to be a bit weak for a while" she said understandingly. Twilight watched the interactions with a smile on her face, watching as Harley followed Buttermilk's example with Beauty, getting the young fillies away from Nightstar.

Midnight glanced over at Specks, he nodded. Midnight stood up. “Come on Nightstar” she said softly. “You a hungry girl?” With the help of Specks, Nightstar was helped to her shaky feet. Stardust watched as her sister latched on and began nursing. She smiled a big smile. “Just…don’t let Beauty and Nutmeg see her standing, or they’ll go crazy” she said, noticing her little sisters wobbly little legs. Nightstar stopped nursing for a moment, before latching in again. Midnight nuzzled her filly’s bum and she looked towards Songbird. “Her tiny legs can’t hold her up for very long” midnight said, her voice breaking. “And it makes me a bit sad, because she can only nurse for a few moments at a time.” Midnight said. Nightstar stopped nursing and her wobbly legs began falling. “Mom, she’s going to fall” stardust said. Specks raced over and helped his little filly onto the ground before she fell over. Midnight smiled. “I just….I just wish that she was a bit stronger, and I’m still weak myself” she admitted

Songbird watched as her new cousin took a wobbly stand, then began nursing, a smile breaking over her face as she chuckled lightly in agreement with Stardust. "That's very true" she said, then gasped slightly as Nightstar wobbled even more and almost fell. She gave a slight sigh, and nodded understandingly "It'll probably take time for her to get enough strength" she remarked sensibly. Twilight nodded. "You're right Song, it will. Since she's so early she's bound to be a bit weak for a while. But Midnight, you really do need to keep grazing as much as possible" she said, worry in her tone.

Midnight shook her head, laying down as well. "I don't understand why" she admitted. "I'm not hungry. I just feel sick" she said, closing her eyes, and laying her head on the ground. Her breath shook slightly. "I'm sorry Twily." she said. Specks nudged his mate. "Midnight" he said. "Twilight is right, you need to eat. If you don't eat, then you won't be able to feed Nightstar, and I know you want to feed her." he said, nuzzling his filly who had fallen asleep

Twilight frowned worriedly, glancing over at Specks. "But sis, you need to eat. Even if you don't feel like it. I know it doesn't seem fair, but Nighstar needs you to eat" she said gently.

Midnight sighed. "I just feel to sick to eat." she admited sadly, laying her head down on the grass. "I really want to eat, I do. But I just feel sick." Midnight sighed again, knowing her sister was right. She leaned forward and took a bite of grass. She chewed it and then swallowed it. Sighing, she kept eating, ok so maybe she was a little bit hungry.
