"I'm sorry" twilight said honestly, nuzzling her again. She nodded to Rusty and he gave a slight yawn, nuzzling her and smiling at Midnight then trotting a ways off to sleep. Twilight looked back at Midnight and sighed as well, but sympathetically "Do you want to keep resting after you feed Nightstar then? I can keep an eye on her." she offered.

Midnight smiled. “That would be great, thanks” Midnight said. Nightstar had woken up and she was staring at her mother. Midnight herd her tiny filly’s belly rumble. She was still very skinny, and it worried Midnight. Midnight stood up and helped Nightstar to her feet. She wobbled over to Midnights belly and bent her head beginning to nurse. Midnight turned her head as always and nuzzled Nightstar. When Nightstar finished nursing, she plopped herself back down onto the grass. Midnight hugged Twilight. “Thanks for keeping an eye on her” she said. “Wake me up in a few hours” midnight said. “I love you, Twily” she nickered, closing her eyes once again

Twilight smiled and nodded , getting to her feet and grazing a bit while the filly nursed, looking over every few minutes. Finally Nightstar fell back down, and Twilight moved closer to her. She looked up at her sister and returned her hug with a smile "Anytime" she said "I will, have a good rest Mid, love you too" she said, waiting to make sure Midnight was settled before continuing grazing, keeping an eye on her niece as she did so.

Midnight slept for a good little while before her ears and tail started twitching. Midnight also began mumbling stuff while she slept. Specks lifted his head. “Honey?” He muttered. He could hear midnight muttering words in her sleep. “Midnight, honey, wake up” he said. “Twilight” specks finally said. “Midnight is mumbling and I can’t wake her up, little help please?” He asked.

Twilight looked over and nodded, walking up to Midnight and nudging her "Sis, wake up!" she said gently, then nudged her a bit harder.

Midnight raised her head. "what's wrong?" she asked, instantly sitting up. "Is Nightstar ok?" she looked at Specks who had worry in his eyes and then she looked back at her sister. "Is something wrong with Nightstar?" she asked

Twilight quickly nuzzled her "no no, she's sleeping just fine, sorry for startling you, but Specks couldn't wake you up and I think he got worried about you" she explained with a smile.

"why?" Midnight asked. "because you kept mumbling things in your sleep" Specks said. Midnights eyes widened in understanding. "oh...i...I was having a bad dream" she said, pinning her ears slightly. "It was about Nightstar...and you...Twilight" Midnight looked at the ground. "you stopped watching her for one second to talk with Rusty and then a wolf killed her." Midnight said. "i'm still tired though" she added

Twilight pinned her ears at the dream... it was definitely scary. Nuzzling Midnight, she smiled reassuringly, calming herself as well. "I promise I won't let anything like that happen" she said. "You go back to sleep, I'll stand right beside her."

Midnight nodded and gave her sister a huge hug. “Thank you” she nickered before closing her eyes. She felt Specks laying beside her and she rested her head on her mates back. He turned and nuzzled midnight before eating some grass from where he lay.

Twilight smiled, watching the two as they lay down, then moving closer to Nighstar. Every few minutes she dropped her head to graze, lifting it again to take a scan of the surroundings. Midnight's dream had undoubtedly put her on edge.

Midnight yawned and woke up a while later. Specks had gotten up before Midnight to graze for a bit. He looked over at her when she woke up and trotted over, nuzzling her. "did you sleep better?" Specks asked. Midnight nodded. "yea" she said. "I feel much more refreshed now." Midnight nickered, getting up to hug Twilight. "thank you for watching her" she nickered

Twilight looked over as Midnight woke up, smiling and hugging her in return "Of course! She's easy to watch" she said.

"Cause she's sleeping" Midnight joked around. "Did she wake up at all?" Midnight asked. Stardust trotted over to her mother. "morning" she said, hugging her mother. "can I go see Harley?" she asked. Midnight looked at her. "he's your mate sweetie, you don't need to ask." Stardust smiled. "I'll be back later" she promised, nuzzling Midnight before she trotted off to find her mate.

Twilight chuckled and nodded "Well that's true. She did wake up about three times, but she just looked around and then fell back asleep" she said, glancing over as Stardust trotted up. She smiled at the mare's question, but it faded as a niggling thought entered her head. Harley, the rogue unpredictable stallion, was already mates with Stardust. Why hadn't buttermilk made his move yet?
