Nutmeg nodded, accepting her grandmothers words easily "Ok!" she said and began to trot off. Songbird paused for a moment, noticing the twinkle in her grandmothers eyes. After a moment she grinned at her, then trotted after her sister. May as well let the game continue for a bit longer!
Twilight sighed and nodded "I know, it was a bit soon I suppose, wasn't it" she said, nuzzling her sister. "I suppose he thought it would be ok since Songbird wasn't really around you during this, so it wouldn't affect us too much" she said sensibly.

"doesn't it effect you thought?" Midnight asked. "you were just up while I slept keeping an eye on Nightstar for me" she said with a small sigh. "I know he most likely didn't want to wait, but did he have to do it today?" Midnight muttered. "He could've chosen any other day. But he had to pick today" she sighed again. "im sorry, I know this isn't really about me, so I shouldn't be complaining." Midnight said.
Beauty poked her head around the tree again. She came in eye contact with Songbird, she pulled her head back in and pinned her ears. "Songbird saw me" she muttered. Ember glanced at her. "BEAUTY!" She said. "I know! I know! I'm sorry, what do we do?" she asked. Harvest thought for a moment. "I don't know" he said. "theres no more trees to hid behind, so now...i guess...we just give in?" he asked

Twilight tilted her head, considering it for a moment, then shook her head again. "No, not really. If songbird needs me she can always come over, so that hasn't changed, and he's been around for a while. Unless songbird has questions, I don't think it would affect me much actually" she said. "And it's ok to feel however you feel, it's your prerogative." she consoled her sister. Songbird was scanning the trees, and caught a glimpse of Beauty as she poked her head from behind a tree. With a grin she nudged Nutmeg. "Hey, maybe we should check the trees behind grandma? If they slipped up behind her it would make sense why she wouldn't know where they were" she said. Nutmeg's eyes brightened and she nodded, cantering towards the trees around their grandma. "Beauttyyyy I'm gonna find you guys!" she called out as Echo, Darak, and Aspen joined the search.

Midnight sighed, of course it wouldn't affect her sister. Why would she even think that. "like I said, im sorry I just dumped all this on you, but its just how I feel" Midnight said, turning her attention over to Nightstar who was playing with a leaf she found in the grass. Midnight smiled at her daughter and then looked back at Twilight. "Look, I'm sorry" Midnight said. "even if it doesnt effect you, it kinda does because it effects me in a small way, but its not that important, so I should just forget all about it, it will soon all blow over," Midnight said, then under her breath she mumbled "until he actually asks Songbird to be his mate and then Songbird is gonna come running and squealing all happy. Maybe I should just take Specks, Beauty, and Nightstar and move them to a different part of the herd" she said. "NOOOO" Beauty giggled, running away with her friends again

Twilight nuzzled her sister "Hey, you aren't dumping it on me, and like I said, you have a right to feel how you feel. And how do you think it will affect you?" she asked gently, then pinned her ears. "Oh.. well.. I suppose she will do that because she'll be happy, but you don't have to move. I can move and go find her before she rushes over here" she offered.
Nutmeg whinnied for the others "There they go!!" she called, then charged after them. Aspen, Darak, Echo and Songbird raced after her, the yearlings putting all their effort into it, and Songbird content to stay at the back and watch the fun. Nutmeg really got her speed out, stretching low and throwing herself across the grass, her long legs flashing over the earth. They didn't have a chance of outrunning her!

Midnight sighed. "like I said, sorry to dump all this on you" she almost whispered. "And I know she'll be happy, cause I was when I became mates with Specks and when you became mates with Rusty." she said. "I just want you to forget everything I said." Midnight said. "It really doesn't matter." she insisted. Nightstar watched the leaf as another one fluttered down from a near by tree. Midnight looked over and watched as Nightstar tilted her head when the leaf ladned
Beauty looked behind her. She could see Nutmeg catching up. She and Nutmeg had raced so many times, that Beauty was able to catch speed. Both of her friends fell back and started heaving. "How...does...she...move...so fast?" Ember asked as Echo came up from behind them. "i don't...get...it" she said, taking in breathes of air

Twilight nudged her gently "It matters if it matters to you" she said gently. "I understand if you don't want tons of rowdiness around, I really do" she added, watching her niece and cracking a smile at her inquisitive expression as she stared at the leaf.
Nutmeg breezed past the two slower horses in minutes, pushing herself faster as her cousin attempted to put on some speed. Sure they had the same grandparents, so she did have an adequate amount of speed.. but she'd never won a race yet. With a grin, Nutmeg burst in to her sprinting mode, the reserve of energy that constantly baffled her friends flaring into existence as she left a trail of dust behind her.
Echo was quite a few lengths behind Nutmeg, and slowed once he reached Ember and Harvest. With a snort, he shook his head, admiration shining in his deep gaze. "They're both pretty fast, but Nutmeg's never been beaten. She's got invisible wings" he said, then blushed at the slightly poetic wording. Aspen trotted up with Darak a few seconds later, grinning at the other yearlings. "So... I guess we'll have to wait for Nutmeg to bring Beauty back" she said, glancing off where the dust clouds billowed as the two yearlings raced, Nutmeg gaining considerably.

"Its just with Nightstar being so weak..." Midnight said. "enough loudness could hurt her ears" Midnight said, watching as Nightstar flicked the leaf off with her tail and as she put her nose to the ground, trying to make it stop moving. Midnight laughed. "I just wish she could walk" Midnight finally said. "or at least stand up on her own. But she was born yesterday, and you can see her bones." Midnight said, all her worries just pouring out at once. "what if...she never gets stronger" Midnight said. "what if she can never walk...or...or talk" Midnight worried

Twilight nodded "I understand that" she said, looking at her nice and chuckling. She got serious again at Midnight's words and nuzzled her sister. "hey, she'll be fine. Of course she'll walk, and talk, and yell and run, and drive you crazy, like all the other fillies." she said reassuringly. "You just have to give her time, remember, she isn't supposed to be born for the next two months, so she has plenty of time to find her strength" she said.
(don't forget the yearlings!)

Midnight nodded. "I hope so" she said, hugging her sister in pure love. "thank you" she nickered. "I think Nightstar is pretty occupied with that leaf" Midnight said laughing when another leaf floated down and landed on her nose. She sneezed and it went floating off.
Beauty eventually grew tired and she stopped running. "ok!" She said to Nutmeg when she finally caught her. "I give in" Beauty flopped on the ground exausted. "I don't understand how you can run that fast and for so long" Midnight said, when Nutmeg flopped beside her

Twilight hugged her in return, then laughed as well. "See, she can learn plenty on the ground" she added in amusement.
Nutmeg eased her pace slightly behind her cousin, intent on running her down, which ended up working. A few minutes later, Beauty flopped to the ground, and Nutmeg breezed around her in a couple circles to slow down before dropping beside her, a wide grin on her face. "My mama says i get the speed from her and the stamina from my dad" she said proudly. "But you run really fast too, which makes sense since our moms are sisters" she added quickly, not wanting to make her cousin feel bad. She glanced behind them and laughed "I think we tired the others out a while back too" she whinnied with laughter.

Midnight laughed. "yea, but theres so much more you can do standing up" Midnight said. Midnight watched as a butterfly fluttered around Nightstars nose, and then it landed on her. "I never had a butterfly land on me" Midnight said. "hey, do you remember when I called it a flutterbye?" Midnight asked, laughing
Beauty laughed. "well, you know that our moms always raced eachother when they were little, and my mom apprently has beaten my dad a few times when they were little as well." she said, hearing Nutmegs next comment, she burst out laughing. "we should probably go back to them then" Beauty said, standing up. "But the shady grass felt very nice" Beauty commented

Twilight chuckled "Well that's true" she acquiesced, then laughed again at the memory Midnight brought up. "Oh yes I remember! That was hilariously adorable" she said, grinning fondly at the memory.
Nutmeg nodded "Yep, my mom told me about that! Ha so i guess it comes from your Mom too then" she added, then got to her hooves as well. "I suppose we should" she agreed, nodding "Very very nice" she said. After that good race it had been nice to rest for a moment, but adrenaline was still zooming through her veins crazily.

Midnight nodded. "And then Stardust and Beauty said it too!" She said laughing. "Maybe I should teach Nightstar that its called a Butterfly so by the time she's talking, she doesn't call it a flutterbye" Midnight said, thinking about how to teach her daughter things while she couldn't walk, or talk, or even stand without Specks help. Midnight suddenly remembered that Nutmeg was a bit bigger than Nightstar was when she was born. "how did you teach Nutmeg?" Midnight asked. "I mean, I know she wasn't as wobbly as Nightstar is, and she was standing on her own by the second day...but still" She asked.
Beauty nudged her cousin playfully. "maybe...we could hide from them for a while so they have to come find us instead" Beauty said. "we haven't had cousin time in a while, we could go hang out with grandma or see if Starlight needs any help now that Oreo has Stormy to care for." Beauty said.

Twilight chuckled again "Not a bad idea!" she said, then tilted her head thoughtfully "Well yes, she was bigger and could stand, but she wasn't able to run for a long time, or play. I mostly told her stories. She didn't understand everything, but she'd get the feeling of it. And it took her a while to talk beyond the few small words too, if you remember. I just would keep talking to her, I didn't make anything simple sounding like most do with foals, I talked to her like i'd talk to any yearling. And it worked, at least for her!" she said with a smile.
Nutmeg grinned "Sure! I haven't seen Stormy much!" she said eagerly.
