Nutmeg grinned, her happiness reaching beyond bounds. "Ok, trees next!" she said, touching her nose to the trunk of the one above them. "This is a TREE. It's WOOD, and has BARK that you can peel off with your teeth!" she said, reaching out and peeling a bit off. A leaf fluttered down from the tree, and Nutmeg blew it over to Nighstar. "This is a LEAF. You can EAT it when you're older too! They're fun to BLOW and see how long you can keep it UP! It comes from the TREE" she said, then paused so the little filly could hopefully take it all in.
Twilight smiled "Well she can still learn! You can play keep the leaf up in the air, you can teach her about everything around her like Nutmeg is doing! You can teach her to stand too, and maybe she can walk earlier if you help her!" she encouraged.

"She was playing with a leaf earlier" Midnight said, laughing. "She was very intrigued by it." she added, watching as Nightstar put her nose to the ground and tried to play with the leaf. "I don't think she understands how you play with it" Midnight laughed again. "I actually remember teaching Starlight how to play that game." Midnight said, telling Nutmeg about the time she had come up with a new game to play with her little sister. "Maybe you and Beauty could teach her when she's able to stand" Midnight suggested.
"But I don't know how to teach her." Beauty said. "I think Nutmeg is doing a better job than I ever could" she admitted. "but I want to teach her something." She sighed. "I could teach her how to flop..." Beauty asked

Nutmeg laughed and nodded "Of course! That would be fun!" she said, tossing a leaf in the air and blowing it to land on the fillies nose.
Twilight smiled "Of course you'll be good! And you won't know until you've tried anyway! There's definitely plenty you would be able to teach her!" she said.

Nightstar blinked as the leaf fell on her nose. She lifted her nose up and took a deep breath, trying to blow the leaf off, but nothing happened. Midnight laughed. She flicked the leaf off with her tail and Nightstar tried again, blowing hard, the leaf floated above her. She smiled. "She did it" Midnight nickered.
Beauty nodded. "ok" she said hugging her aunt. "don't tell mom what I told you about Stormy" she said, trotting over to her little sister. "can I play?" she asked. Midnight nodded. "of course" Midnight said. Beauty smiled and she blew the leaf over to Nutmeg

Nutmeg let out a happy whinny. "Yep, that's it!" she said, smiling at Beauty as she joined, and blowing the leaf again as it came towards her, directing it gently in Nighstar's direction. "Now your turn!" she said to the little filly encouragingly.
Twilight smiled and nodded, watching her trot over to her sister and cousin. What a cute trio they made!

Nightstar tilted her head, it looked like she was thinking, then she lifted her head in the air and blew on the leaf, her eyes shining when it floated over towards Beauty some how. Midnight smiled but she kept worrying. Nightstar was so small, you could see her ribs, what if she never learned to walk or stand on her own? Midnight sighed but watched as they continued to play with the leaf.
Beauty giggled and blew the leaf towards Nutmeg. "She's getting it" Beauty said, happily

Nutmeg whinnied happily as Nightstar was able to direct it to Beauty. "You got it!" she said to the filly, blowing out just in time to catch the leaf and drift it over to Nighstar.
Twilight smiled as she watched the three playing, then she got to her feet and walked over to Midnight, nuzzling her as she saw a flash of worry in her eyes. "Don't worry about the future" she said softly.

Nightstar smiled and she took a big breath and blew the leaf back over to who she assumed was her sister Beauty. Her eyes sparkled playfully as she wanted to try and stand up, but she knew her legs would just give out under her.
Midnight sighed and looked over at her sister. "well...thats easier said than done" Midnight said. "seeing her play like this, yes it makes me happy, but what if thats only how she plays?" she asked. "and I bet Stormy will be talking before her, but I'm going to try to get her talking before he starts talking." Midnight said, nuzzling her sister in return

Nutmeg was absolutely delighted watching her new cousin learn the game, which although simple was still very fun. And they would have even more fun once she was able to stand!!
Twilight smiled and nodded "I know" she said, glancing over at the fillies. "Don't worry, I know she'll be able to play just like any other filly in no time. And i'm sure you can get her talking soon! She looks very smart" she said, a sadness zipping through her that Midnight didn't realize she'd already failed her goal.

Midnight nodded in agreement. "she does, and soon she'll be running around with them" Midnight hoped. "hey...are you ok?" she asked. "you look...kind of...sad" Midnight glanced back at her two daughters and her niece and then back towards her sister. Something was bothering her, Midnight could tell, but whatever it was, Twilight wasn't telling her.
Nightstar blew the leaf again and giggled. "SHE JUST LAUGHED!" Beauty squealed. Midnight turned her head. "what?" she asked. "Nightstar, she just laughed" Beauty said again. "Come on, do it for mama" Beauty said encouragingly. "come on" Beauty said. "she did, I swear" Beauty said. "I believe you" Midnight said. "and thats great, but she's still not talking. And she still can't stand on her own unless she's nursing" Midnight said

Twilight nodded, then shook her head, quickly smiling. "Oh i'm fine! I definitely don't have a reason to be sad!" she said. But even as she said it, she knew her sister wouldn't believe her. Thankfully, Beauty brought up a distraction, a rather welcome one in both ways, and she smiled happily. Giggling was certainly a step towards speaking! She nuzzled Midnight. "Hey, but it's a step! Give her a bit of time!" she said gently.
Nutmeg's eyes widened and she hopped to her feet, giving a little buck of happiness and excitement. "Yeah, she did!" she echoed, quickly laying back down and trying to coax her to do it again.

Midnight nodded. "ok" she said, smiling now. She could tell there was something her sister wasn't telling her, and Midnight was determined to figure out just what that thing was. But she would have to be sneaky about it.
Nightstar tilted her head back and blew on the leaf again, sending it towards Nutmeg as she waited for it to go to her older sister Beauty, and then back to her where she would blow it back to her cousin again

Twilight smiled, waiting for Midnight to look back at the fillies to relax. Whoof, bullet dodged... for now.
Nutmeg grinned and quickly blew the leaf again, blowing it harder this time and aiming for Beauty's nose.

Beauty glared at her cousin but laughed, blowing it toward her little sister, who lifted her head up and blew the leaf. She giggled again when it fluttered away. Midnight watched and her eyes glittered. “She did it! She really giggled!” Midnight said smiling. “I bet she’s started giggling before Stormy” midnight said, smiling. Beauty herd her mother and she sighed. “Mom…there’s something I need to tell you” she said. Midnight looked at her daughter. “What is it sweetie?” She asked.

Nutmeg grinned at Beauty, then laughed as Nightstar giggled, letting the leaf float to the ground as Beauty suddenly got serious. Twilight's eyes widened and she quickly stepped forward, hoping to intercept the problematic conversation. "Oh Beauty, why don't you take Nutmeg and pick some flowers and pretty things like rocks to bring and teach Nightstar about? Maybe you can even help her start learning how to talk if you enunciate a lot!" she said, smiling broadly as she moved up beside Midnight, making sure she couldn't see her face before giving Beauty a very pointed look.
