Nightstar nodded slowly and blew the leaf towards her cousin as it floated towards her. Midnight smiled and she flicked her ears towards Twilight, indicating she wanted to talk. Nutmeg blew the leaf over to Beauty, her ears flicking to follow her mother as Twilight got up and moved with Midnight. But they were too far away for her to hear the words.
Twilight nuzzled her sister "I'm sure she'll be able to say full words soon, just give her a bit of time!" she said.

"How can you be so sure?" Midnight asked. "Its still amazing that she's even babbling words right now, but like I said, what if she can only do that?" she asked, her eyes full of love, yet worry all at the same time.
Nightstar giggled again as Beauty blew the leaf towards her. She lifted her muzzle up in the air and blew it back to Nutmeg

Twilight smiled "Because, even though she's two months behind, she's already speaking one word! That's amazing. You can't compare her to others, you have to just look at her." she said gently.
Nutmeg laughed and blew it to Beauty, then looked at Nightstar. "Hey Nightstar, how about you practice saying Leaf? Try saying it like this LE AF" she said, highly emphasizing the syllables.

Nightstar thought for a moment. “L-E A-F.” She said. Beauty smiled big. “Yes!” She said. “Just like that! Now can you say LEAF?” She asked. “Just like you say mama, say leaf, just like you say mama” beauty said, glancing towards her mother and aunt. She could see love and worry in her motheres eyes. If Nightstar said leaf, she wouldn’t have to worry. “Come on, you can do it” beauty said. Nightstar thought for a second. “L-E A-F” she said

Nutmeg frowned slightly, tilting her head. "Hmm that one is a bit hard I suppose. Let's try something else!" she said. "Ok, try this. BEE" she said slowly. That one should be easy, she already said it a lot anyway!

“B-BEE” Nightstar said. Beauty’s eyes glowed. “YES NIGHTSTAR!” She said. “That’s it! You got it!” She looked at her little sister and gave her a hug, and then she looked back at nutmeg. “Oooo, try dada next” beauty suggested.

Nightstar thought for a moment. She knew that word easily. “D-D-D-A-D-A” she said. Beauty smiled. “Ok” she said. “That’s a start.” She said. “Now, try it again. Like this. DA-DA” she said. Nightstar thought again. “D-A-D-A” she said. Beauty smiled. “YES!” She said. “Now, just put it together.” She said. “Look at Nutmeg” beauty said. “Listen to what she tells you now” she said.

Nutmeg smiled, letting Beauty do half of the teaching,then nodding and taking it up again. "Ok, now like this. DADA" she said, drawing out the letters but still putting them together.

Nightstar thought hard for a second before she closed her eyes and opened them again. “D-DADA” she said. Beauty smiled big. “M-mama. M-m-m-m-i-l-k” she said. Beaut looked up. “I’ll get my mom” she said. She stood up and trotted to her mom. “Mom, Nightstar said she wants milk” she said. Midnight nodded and trotted over to Nightstar. “Hey Nightstar. You want milk?” She asked. Nightstar stuttered out. “M-m-m-i-l-k” she said. Midnight smiled. “Ok, nutmeg, can you help her up?” She asked.

Nutmeg grinned "Yes!! You said it!!" she said excitedly, watching as Beauty trotted off to get Midnight. When she came, she nodded to her request and got to her hooves, nudging the little filly up carefully. "Up you go, time to eat!" she said cheerfully.

Night star struggled to her feet and then she went over to midnight, bending her head to start nursing. Her small tail waving wildly. Midnight turned and nuzzled her. She looked back and twilight and said. “Do you remember when my tail would go that fast when mom made the herd stop just so I could eat while we were moving” she said laughing at the memory.

Nutmeg stood and watched her little cousin as she began drinking quickly, grinning at her little tail. Twilight chuckled and nodded "I definitely do" she responded wit ha grin.

Midnight laughed. "Did I do that too mom?" Beauty asked. Midnight nodded. "both you and your sister did." Midnight said. "What was Stardust like as a little foal?" Beauty asked. "Well, she looked a lot like me, and she was very energetic, ad she loved playing in the snow." Midnight said. Beauty nodded and watched as Nightstar finished nursing, Midnight helping her down so she could have a nap if she wanted one
