Twilight's ears pinned "I...I" she said, hearing the scorn in her sister's voice. Slowly she backed off, her heart feeling rent slightly. She took a glance at her own family to see her foals all huddled up around their sister and father. He was looking at her with solemn eyes, understanding warm eyes. "Go" he mouthed, glancing up at the storm. He knew how to make her feel better. And she went. With a sudden screaming whinny of emotions she reared and plunged back into the rain. The storm had a head start, but the one inside her was pushing her faster than this mere natural disaster. Her legs moved even faster, burning with pain, but she wanted it like that. She wanted to forget the way her sister looked at her, so much scorn, and not even any love or thankfulness for her protection. Not that she was looking for adoration, but... it hurt. It had always been them together. And she knew how silly it was to think Specks would hurt her, but he had hurt her before, in words, and in actions. How was she to know? With another trumpeting scream of confusion she threw herself into the storm, the whirling winds picking up her wet mane as she plunged towards the edge of the storm. She would beat it. If she could beat it, she could beat her own emotions.

Fuego nuzzled her "it's just an itty bity storm, we've been through plenty" he assured her.

Spirit nuzzled his mate again as she lay down, shifting so she could be more comfortable.

Midnight looked up as she heard a whinny, suddenly her heart ached, but she didn't move. "Mid" Specks said. Midnight glanced at her mate. "I know" She said, her voice breaking slightly. "I know..." She whispered as Apollo pressed against his parents. "I can't leave him" She said. "You have to" Specks said. For once...it was Midnight's turn to follow after her sister. "Ok" She whispered, standing to her hooves. Unlike her sister, Midnight didn't neigh, she just reared and took off in the direction her sister went. If Midnight caught up to her, they could make this a race and forget everything that just happened! Midnight felt the wind flow through her mane and she smiled. The only thing missing was Twilight beside her. Midnight squinted her eyes and she made out her sisters hoof prints in the ground and she managed to pick up speed. She was going faster than she ever had before, racing against the storm to find her older sister.

"This one is louder!" Sunfire said as she snuggled against her parents.

Twilight's legs were just a blur as she reached the edge of the storm and burst past it into the light drizzle, adrenaline filling her and washing away the confused emotions as thunder rolled behind her. She'd outrun the storm. Nothing could stop her now. She slowed the barest amount to stay at the edge of the storm, loving the feel of the tension crackling behind her, chasing her.

Fuego nuzzled her "It's ok darling, it's nothing to be worried about, it's just the horses of the past running above us!" he said.

Midnight felt her legs slow down. “No….don’t give up on me legs please!” Midnight said as she tried get her legs to keep going. The storm was loud overhead, and midnight felt her heart pounding….from fear and adrenaline. “TWILIGHT!” Midnight almost screamed as her legs pounded the earth. She saw a light up ahead and finally she saw her sister. Midnight slowed to an easy trot and then to a walk. “Y…you are…to fast.” Midnight said as she tried to catch her breath.

Sundancer smiled. “Dadas right” she said to her daughter. “Really?” Sun fire asked.

Twilight's legs were burning but it felt amazing. She pushed herself faster, faster along with the edge of the storm as it crashed and rolled behind her, blinking the rain out of her eyes as she steadied her hooves from slipping. Until suddenly a scream called out from behind her and she slid to a halt, literally sliding sideways in the mud before finding her hooves as the storm flashed over her, continuing its path onwards. She glanced up snorting at it defiantly. She could've beaten it for as long as it wanted to run. Then she turned to see her sister, staying still as the black mare moved up to her. At her comment she simply swished her tail and walked past her, beginning to head back. She did not feel like talking if that was all her sister was going to say.

Fuego smiled "I am" he assured her.

Midnight suddenly felt tears burn in her eyes. What has she done? She shut her eyes and didn’t dare to follow her sister. “I’m sorry” Midnight said. Tears fell down her face and she just followed at her sister. Midnight didn’t know what to do….how….what…..she was confused on what to do now. Midnight watched as her sister picked up speed and Midnight raced after her. “Talk to me, please” midnight said.

Sun fire smiled and snuggled down by her father with a happy smile.

Twilight slowed her walk slightly, but she couldn't bring herself to turn around. Instead she picked up a canter, but slow enough so her sister could catch up. And she did. Finally with a sigh she slowed and glanced over. "What do you want me to say, Mid" she said in a tired voice.

“I’m sorry” Midnight said. Tears fell down her face. “Twilight, I’m so sorry” she said. “But I get if you don’t want to talk to me….then…..that’s fine.” She muttered as she trotted forward and headed back to her mate

Twilight paused, then sighed, shaking her head and cantering after her sister, nudging her "No, i'm sorry sis, I overreacted... it's just i got so full of adrenaline racing that storm, i didn't even stop to think, i just saw a stallion standing over my little sister, and i just reacted" he said with a sigh.

“I…..I….I’m sorry” was all midnight could say. “I get that you’re my big sister, but you know Specks and I play that game all the time.” Midnight said. “I love that you wanted to protect me and I’m so greatful for you….and I just yelled at you” midnight muttered.

Twilight sighed "I just... i didn't think." she said, then nuzzled her. "It's ok, i deserved it for doing that" she mumbled.

“No! I took his side, not yours! It was wrong of me.” Midnight said as she started sobbing. “Twilight I love you” midnight said, hugging her sister so hard. “Please….please…forgive me” midnight said

Twilight nuzzled her "I know, but at that point, I was wrong. I should have actually used sense first" she said with a sigh, then hugged her back "I love you sis, of course i forgive you, if you can forgive me" she said.

Midnight sniffled. “Of course I do! You tried to protect me, and you know I love you for that! I love you for you!” Midnight said. “Race you back to our mates?” Midnight asked.

Twilight nuzzled her "Thank you sis, I love you so much" she said with a relieved sigh, then grinned "You think you can keep up?" she challenged, tossing her mane.
