Twilight sighed slightly, then glanced down as Specks woke up, hiding her grin at his grumpy face, then nodding. "I see" she whispered back, then added "And yeah, just took a bit to find a good position to sleep in where we were BOTH comfortable"

"You go back to sleep" Midnight said, hugging her sister. "I got it from here." she promised. "Seriously, if you don't get sleep, I will walk you back to Rusty myself when Nightstar is done eating." Midnight said. Nightstar finally finished and she yawned, her eyes grew heavy as Midnight helped her lay down. Then, she lay down as well and she nickered to Twilight who had gone back to her family. It was a good night and thank you nicker. Midnight closed her eyes and she fell asleep once mroe

Twilight smiled and nuzzled her, returning her hug "Ok, if you're sure" she said, pausing a minute then walking back to her family and laying down, but staying alert until she heard Midnight's nicker. Softly she nickered back, then laid her head back on Rusty's shoulders, falling asleep almost instantly.

Midnight slept the rest of the night, and when she woke up the next morning, Beauty was already gone. She was probobaly off with Nutmeg and their friends. Midnight guessed. Stardust was grazing near by. "Morning mom." she said, trotting over. "how did you sleep?" she asked. "good" Midnight answered. "but your little sister decided to wake me up in the middle of the night, demanding milk." she said, glancing over at Nightstar who was still fast asleep. "and then we woke up your father so he might be grumpy this morning." Midnight warned, "ok, thats my cue to leave then" Stardust said, hugging Midnight before she trotted off to find Harley. "Midnight" specks grumbled. Midnight turned. "yes...?" she asked. "you do realize that I was trying to sleep last night?" he said. Midnight sighed. "I know, but Nightstar was hungry." she said. "Couldn't she have just waited until morning?" he snapped. His eyes full of grumpyness. Midnight pinned her ears. "I tried to get her back to sleep but...she just wouldn't go back down until I fed her." Midnight answered.

Twilight was still sleeping as morning rolled around.
Rusty woke up as the sun was rising, getting to his feet and stretching before trotting off on patrol, the old habit dying hard. Songbird slipped away an hour after, heading for the copse of trees with the hopes of finding Buttermilk, although she knew he wasn't an early morning horse. Nutmeg woke up a few hours after her older sister, immediately bounding to her feet, glancing at her mother, then racing off to find Beauty and the others, ready to start the day.

Midnight sighed. "Can you just keep an eye on her for a few mins?" she asked Specks. Specks nodded, his eyes still full of grumpy. Midnight trotted over to Twilight and she lay down beside her, bopping her with her nose. "good morning Twilight" she nickered. "time to get up!" Midnight said, as she nudged her sister again

Twilight snuffled sleepily, finally waking up at the second nudge and lifting her head, blinking up at Midnight with a smile. "Morning sis" she said in quite the morning voice, nuzzling her. Taking a moment to adjust her eyes, she glanced around, realized she was alone besides Midnight, and got to her hooves with a shake of her mane. "How'd you sleep after?" she asked.

"Pretty good, but I would advice you stay away from Specks for a while." Midnight said. "He's Mr. Grumpy stallion this morning." she said, turning her head to look at Specks who had his ears pinned back as he munched grumpily at the grass. "I told him that Nightstar just wanted milk and he goes: Couldn't you have just told her to wait until morning? I tried explaining that when a foal is hungry, theres no stopping it." Midnight nickered softly. "Beauty raced off a while ago with her friends, Stardust left when I told her Specks was in his grumpy mood, Nutmeg went after Beauty not long after she left, Songbird went somewhere, proboably off to find Buttermilk, and Rusty I believe is on patrol." she said

Twilight snorted and nodded "Good to know" she said wryly about Specks, then listened to the rest of the explanation. "Well, he clearly doesn't understand about being a mother" she said, slightly annoyed with him. "Ah, so that's where they all went. I guessed where Nutmeg and Songbird went, but i didn't know about Rusty. He does patrols now?" she said, slightly puzzled. Rusty hadn't told her about his few months of depression when she'd disappeared, where he would disappear himself for hours on patrols, leaving his fillies with their grandparents or uncle. He'd wanted to tell her.. but didn't know how she'd take it.

“I guess” midnight said as she turned and trotted back to Nightstar and Specks. She knew it wasn’t exactly right ti just leave Twilight alone like that, but she had explained that specks was in a mood and told her to stay away for a while. Specks looked up. “I’m sorry” he said. Midnight looked at him. “It’s ok.” She said in reply. “Why domt you get sleep, that way you won’t be grumpy” midnight said, laughing. Specks nodded and he lay back down, closing his eyes he fell asleep. Midnight trotted back over to Twilight. “Hey, sorry about that. I just…wanted to talk with specks I guess.” He said.

Twilight blinked as her sister left abruptly, then shook it off, bending her head to graze a bit in hopes Midnight would return. A few minutes later her sister did just that, and she lifted her head, smiling easily. "That's ok, i understood" she said. Although she had to wonder... was Midnight evading her question? Or was she just overthinking everything?

"oh, and about your question, Specks told me Rusty started doing patrols ever since the day we were caught by the humans." Midnight said. "he wanted to protect both our girls as much as possible." she nickered. She looked back over to Nightstar. "Can we take this conversation over to Nightstar?" she asked. "I don't want her to be with out any horse who is not sleeping." Midnight said to her sister

Twilight looked relieved and nodded "Ok, thank you for telling me.." she trailed off slightly as they started walking back to Nightstar. "Why didn't he tell me himself then?" she asked, brow furrowed.

Midnight looked at her sister. "I don't know" she said, she hugged Twilight. "but you don't have to worry, alright. I don't think he's alone, Nightlight was telling me that he and Rusty do it together." Midnight said. "its good that your mate is bonding with our little brother." she said, smiling. "oh...and you didn't hear this from me, but Starlight told me that Nightlight has a crush." Midnight said

Twilight smiled and hugged her back "Ok, that's good" she said firmly, glad the worry was off her mind... mostly. Her ears pricked at this tidbit of news. "Oh? Any ideas who?" she questioned.
