“No clue.” Midnight said as she trotted back to Nightstar with Twilight. “It’s kinda strange to think of that..though…our little brother being in love…” midnight said. “Dont ya think?” She asked. “I mean, poor Starlight can’t have a crush, and now her younger brother does. That’s gotta make her feel horrible. But we both know how much she loves working with Oreo. I mean, she’s so good at it” Midnight said with a sigh. “Actually” midnight stopped. “I think he has a crush on that bay mare, Fireball I think her name was?” She questioned.

Twilight nodded "It is a little weird!" she agreed, then gave a sigh for their little sister. "Yes, that's true, but i think she's happy, she knew what she was choosing when she did it." she said. Twilight glanced to the side and stopped as Midnight stopped, looking at her curiously as she spoke. "Hmmm I think so. I haven't really seen her much" she said thoughtfully.

“I don’t even know what she looks like except for what Starlight told me” midnight said laughing. She herd a low growl sound behind her and Midnight turned. Nightstar was small enough to be the perfect bait for a wolf or cougar, and what stood growling in front of her, brought the memories of midnights filly hood back. It was a wolf, with very white sharp teeth. Midnight pinned her ears. “Twily..” she whispered. Midnight had to send out an alarm call so the herd would come help, with Nightstar being so tiny and all. “What do we do?” She asked.

Twilight still looked throughtful, then shrugged, about to speak in return, when an ominous growling got all her nerves on edge. Spinning around, yer eyes widened, and she instinctively stepped forward, standing slightly in front of Midnight. "You call the herd, stay by Nightstar. If it tries attacking before they get here, I can fend it off for a while" she said, her eyes not leaving the crouched wolf.
(I couldn't tell if Midnight had alr called the herd or not, so i opted for not)

Midnight nodded her head shakily and she stepped in front of Nightstar. She lifted her head and neighed a warning call to the herd. Praying to Epona that they would come before the wolf attacked her filly. Midnight stomped her hoof on the ground and she pinned her ears. Her focus only on Nightstar. It was only a few seconds when the earth began to rumble and the entire herd came galloping to Midnight and Twilight. Everyone who wasn’t a nursing mare. They all made a circle around Nightstar, like they had the night Midnight was dragged away by a wolf. They were stomping there hooves on the ground. Midnight in the center of the circle, protecting her daughter. If a wolf tried to come through, it would heave to go through her first. “RIVERLAND MOUNTAIN HERD, ATTACK!!” Her mothers attack call rang out and then all the horses were running towards the wolf, stomping on it. Midnights nostrils flared in anger. She laied herself down beside Nightstar and pulled her filly close.

(no that works! I just wanted to be sure what you had in mind before i posted lol!! I thought that's what she would be doing.)
Twilight pinned her ears and bared her teeth at the wolf, snaking her heard warningly and stomping her hooves along with Midnight. The canine looked slightly unsure of itself.. until it caught the scent of the two foals, one born and one unborn. Realizing that Twilight wasn't quite as strong as she usually was, and that there was an helpless foal behind the two mares, it crouched again, preparing. Suddenly a sound rumbled from behind them, and in a flash the entire herd raced up to them, clouds of dust billowing as they spun into their well practiced protective ring, encircling Midnight, Nightstar, and Twilight. While Twilight would have fought if necessary, she could feel a slight bit of relief as she moved closer to Midnight, relief that she wouldn't have to endanger her unborn foal. At their mother's call, the herd surged forward around them, and the threat was over. Twilight let out a shaky breath, turning to see Midnight, looking rather fiery and protective, laying down beside Nighstar. Twilight moved to lie down on the fillies other side, reaching over to nuzzle Midnight reassuringly. "It's ok, the threat is over" she said softly, trying to tell herself that as well as Midnight.

Midnight let out her breath. “It happened to me, I will NOT let it happen to Nightstar.” Midnight said as she hugged her sister. “Did you see the look in that wolfs eyes?” Midnight asked. “The look of hunger, and fire” Midnight said, her voice shaking. “If he had gotten Nightstar…my life would be over.” She began crying. “Twily…I can’t understand how that wolf could just come here and try to take my daughter as his meal” she said, pressing her face into her sister. “What if…what if it had?” She asked.

Twilight quickly reached over and pulled her into a strong hug. "Hey hey, it's over, it's ok, she's safe. I promise i wouldn't ever let that happen, you know that. And until she can walk and run and she's safe, I promise i'll get a stallion to be here at all times, either Rusty, or Specks, or Buttermilk, or Harley" she said reassuringly, nuzzling her. "Don't think like that Midnight, he didn't get her, and he would never have even gotten close" she said firmly.

Midnight nodded. “That’s why I don’t like to leave her side.” She said. “But what if it happens in the middle of the night? How can I sleep tonight?” She asked, another tear rolling down her face. “I…I can’t risk loosing her” midnight muttered. “And if the wolf comes back tonight…Twily…would it be to much to ask the herd to sleep around me and Nightstar tonight?” She asked. “Just…just for precautions..ya know?” She asked.

Twilight nuzzled her "I'm sure the herd wouldn't mind, they understand. I'm sure all the herd mothers, pregnant and nursing with their foals will want to sleep in the middle of the herd tonight" she said reassuringly. "And then after that, we can do watch shifts, I know the stallions won't mind, as they can always catch up on sleep later in the day." she said.

“Oh you mean like Specks?” Midnight asked, laughing. “He did get up to help with the wolf” Midnight nickered. “I’m gonna need you to ask mom…” she said, her voice shaky. “I…I need to stay with Nightstar.” Midnight said, knowing her sister would understand. “You…you understand don’t you?” Midnight asked. “After what just happened…I don’t think I can leave her. And because she can’t walk…the herd, and herd mothers will need to come over here” midnight mumbled.

Twilight nodded "Yes" she said, then nuzzled her sister again "Of course! I understand. I'll be back as soon as possible" she said, getting to her feet, and glancing down to make sure Midnight was ready for her to leave.

Midnight nodded and just pulled Nightstar closer. When Twilight left, Midnight kept glancing around. She herd footsteps and she glanced around. “Mom, it’s just me” Stardust said. “I saw Aunt Twilight walking over to grandma, so I told her I’d lay with you and Nightstar.” She said, laying down beside her little sister. “I promise, nothing isn’t going to happen to my little sister.” She said, leaning over she hugged her mom. “And the herd will sleep around us tonight anyway, so you don’t need to worry” Stardust promised. Midnight smiled. “Thank you sweetie” she said. Stardust smiled. “I know when you need a pep talk most.” She said, jokingly.
