Midnight smiled and then bent her head so she could graze beside her sister. She flicked Twilight with her tail every now and again and gazed up at her, smiling lovingly.

Rain nuzzled her mate in return and then finally stood up to eat as well

Twilight dipped her head to the ground, smiling as swishing her tail as well in response, happy they were at peace again.

Spirit looked up now and then, gauging the sun's travel across the sky, waiting till an hour after dawn to wake the herd.

Midnight looked up and then nipped her sisters mane. She chuckled. “I really am sorry Twi” midnight said.

Rain looked at her mate. “Spirit, why don’t you let the herd wake on their own?” Rain asked. “Most of them are waking already, and if they aren’t then it’s the mothers laying beside foals.” She pointed out

Twilight looked up and smiled "It's really ok sis" she responded, nuzzling her.

Spirit tilted his head, then smiled "It isn't so much waking them, as greeting them. I do wish to wake them so they can get the sweet grass before the dew is gone, and so they do not wake while we are at the river. It is all part of the herd dynamics" he explained gently.

Midnight smiled. “Ok!” She said, nipping her sister again.

Rain nodded in understanding. “Well maybe don’t bother the foals?” She suggested

Twilight smiled and nipped her forelock back happily.

Spirit chuckled "It's ok Rain, they know well enough to sleep through it by now, and this is how it has been done for generations" he said, nuzzling her gently, then moving to the top of the hill and tossing his mane, rearing slightly as he called to his herd. Heads lifted, ears pricked, eyes opened as all of them got to their hooves and reared, tossing their heads and stomping their hooves in greeting with happy whinnies. His front feet landed with a thud and he smiled as the morning breezes rushed past, bringing him his herds welcoming cries. He snorted and nodded his head to them in acceptance of their calls, then looked over to Rain. "They would be confused if I suddenly stopped greeting them, it brings them as much joy as it brings me" he said as he trotted back to her.

Rain nodded. She knew her mate was right. Hoisting herself to her hooves, she let out a small whinny back to her mate, ending it with a happy nicker as he came trotting back down the hill. “Is it dry up there?” She asked.

Spirit smiled "A little, the ground isn't as soft" he said with a nod.

Rain shuddered. “No. I prefer dry grass” she said with a chuckle.

“Do we want to see Nightlight again today or should we wait to see if Fireball comes to us?” Midnight asked.

Spirit smiled "Well it's definitely drier up there" he said.

Twilight thought for a moment "I think we could go check on him, i doubt she'll leave his side" she said.

[Abbster]

Rain chuckled. “That’s true. Alright I’ll go up there with you.” She said trotting up to the top of the hill. She shook herself a little bit and then began grazing.

Midnight nodded. “I know the feeling.” She muttered.

Spirit nuzzled her, trotting up along side her and standing with his head to the wind. The screeching cry of the eagle made him look to the skies and he whinnied as he tossed his head, their old friend circling above them with greeting cries before gliding off on the currents towards the west. He watched after the eagle, so wild, so free... remembering the times they'd raced. And remembering the time he'd flown across that canyon, feeling that freedom. He smiled slightly again, then after a while he turned his head back down and began grazing.

Twilight nuzzled her "I know, but i'm so glad Specks is ok" she said.

“Do you want to race him?” Rain asked. “Go race the Eagle.” Rain said nudging him. “I’ll watch over the herd.” She said with a smile.

Midnight smiled. “Me too” she said

Spirit smiled "He'll fly back over again later, I could not leave the herd so early in the morning" he said, then nuzzled her "But i may take you up on that offer later" he added.

Twilight smiled, then glanced off in the direction of their brother "When do you think they'll be awake? Or at least Fireball will be?" she queried.

Rain smiled. “Good. I’m glad because you need to run free like you used to” she added as she flicked him with her tail. “I love you so much.” Rain said.

Midnight thought for a moment. “Fireball should be awake by now.” Midnight said.
