A rural shelter and nearby town(think South Dakota/South-West Minnesota region, still tornado alley but with some trees) are struck by a F3 tornado. The shelter has its roof, doors, and in some parts walls ripped away. Luckily they used cinderblocks to build their kennels so the dogs are relatively unharmed. Now though with the area declared a natural disaster the dogs take the opportunity to runs free. While a few dogs break off to roam the town looking for easy food, most of the chose to run away and search for a new place for them live free. Along the way they must figure out how form a pack and survival in the wild.
Guidelines 1. No hybrids(wolf or coyote) will be allowed. All dogs must be of fully domestic origins. 2. Dogs can be purebred or mixed-bred, as long as their backstory fits with them ending up in the rural shelter. Do keep in mind breed tendencies though, for example a livestock guardian won't have a good prey drive and might be a poor hunter, while a husky would have no problem hunting, and a border collie would likely be in between. Size would additionally be a factor as greyhounds could like chase faster prey but a mastiff could take down larger prey. 3. It will be assumed all dogs are intact, so please make note if otherwise. While unrealistic for a shelter this does provide opportunities for future puppies if a player so wants. 4. If you link an image for appearance do include at least a basic written description as well. This helps if links break/don't work or for screen readers. 5. While not listed as a rank I will accept an omega character if someone wants. Currently the ranks are alpha, beta, lead hunters(they would be in charge of hunting parties but no other power), and hunters. All lead hunters are above regular hunters and assigned 3 dogs to lead on hunting parties. - While ranks are being picked now, they won't hold those roles in rp until later. 6. You can have up to 4 characters and it would be nice if they weren't all the same gender. Please make each character a separate post.
Additional Guidelines 7. I will only be accepting characters from registered users, I understand the site allows guests. However I do not like them as there is no way to message said guest when they are needed in rp. Not to mention anyone can use the same guest name so there is no guarantee it is the original person. 8. Pups will be allowed later on in the rp and must belong to a mother in the pack. Random pups will not be allowed at this time. 9. Characters added after the pack leaves the shelter will either have to be lost from a home/displaced by the tornado if added while on the journey. If they are added after the pack reaches their territory they would need to either be dumped or lost/wandering.

Name: Nikita Rank: Alpha Age: 4 Gender & Sexuality: Male, bisexual Breed: LGD mix(presumed Caucasian Shepherd and Carpathian Shepherd, but could be Caucasian Shepherd and Anatolian) Height & Weight: 30in & 125lbs Appearance: Face Body Nikita is a large male with an extremely thick, dense coat. Most of his coat is a rich mix of reddish-brown and black in an agouti pattern. He does have some white markings on his paws, tailtip, and a small blaze on his muzzle that leads down his chest. His eyes are amber with a lighter center. Personality: Nikita is a relatively laidback dog, he doesn't get super worked up. Though he can be very cold, bordering aggressive with strangers until they show they are no threat. He is very sweet to those who are close to him and he cares deeply for those he would consider family. Because of that he is willing to fight tooth and nail for those he cares for; something he is built for with his thick coat and bulky build. Backstory: Nikita was born on a goat farm to a caucasian shepherd mother and an unknown father, though there were only two intact males on the farm. He was marked as a pet prospect after he killed a few chicks as a puppy, the farmer didn't want to take any chances as he got older. So when he was four months old he was given to a family who wanted a large, fluffy dog. That family meant well, but was ill prepared for keeping a livestock guardian as a pet. Unfortunately when he was a year old they had to rehome him after a few too many escape attempts to patrol the cul de sac got him in trouble with the neighbors. They found someone who was starting a hobby farm and gave him to them. The family had tried their best and really thought they picked a good home. This new owner however was clueless about LGDs and livestock in general. So Nikita was chained to a stake during the day and only allowed out with the livestock at night; Luckily he had outgrown the chick killing incident but had no clue what his job was supposed to be. This meant he often would disappear for several days, only coming back when he was really hungry. This was how he spent almost three years before the last time he went wandering animal control picked him up. As he wasn't chipped or wearing a collar and his owner was used to him going missing no one ever came to look for him. After his hold was up he would spend almost a month in the shelter before the tornado would strike. Mate: None Pups: None Other: He is not the greatest hunter so he tends to leave that to others and instead focuses his free time on patrolling the pack's territory.

Name: Ziva Rank: Hunter 2 Age: 2 Gender & Sexuality: Female, bisexual Breed: lurcher(greyhound x harrier) Height & Weight: 27in & 60lbs Appearance: Click She is a lean dog with obvious muscle and always a few ribs showing. Her coat is golden-red with white irish markings. She has the drop ears of a harrier along with dark brown, almost black eyes. Personality: Ziva is a very sociable and willing to make friends with anyone. However she is not overly energetic; she can and does like to run, but she can manage to sit still when needed. She is a bit of a people pleaser, always wanting to make others happy. Her constant optimism does tend to rub some dogs the wrong way, so she could be considered an acquired taste to some. Backstory: Originally bred to be a hunting or sport lurcher, Ziva was purchased to join an established hunting pack. She was training mostly on rabbit but also coyote on occasion as her owner did have a farm with livestock. Ziva excelled in the hunt though her recall was poor and she tended to want to chase even when she wasn't supposed to. Though they were working through it slowly when her owner took his whole pack on a hunter trip a few states away. While they were out hunting her human had an accident and had to be taken to the hospital; in the middle of the craziness Ziva took off after a rabbit. By the time they realized they were short a dog it was already getting dark. Ziva ended up two counties over from the original one and that was several states away from home. She was captured by a local after wandering up to their house and brought to the shelter. It was however only a day before the tornado struck and she never even got to see a vet to check for a chip. Mate: None Pups: None Other: Is a skilled hunter but lacks a bit focus and tends to run after/chase a lot more than necessary. She’ll likely calm down as she continues to mature.

Name: Django Rank: Hunter 1 Age: 2 Gender & Sexuality: Male, Straight Breed: Doberdane (Doberman X Great Dane) Height & Weight: 34 Inches and 122 Pounds Appearance: www.greatdane.co.in/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Doberdane-Pictures.jpg Django is a tall and slim dog with toned muscles and a thicker coat. He’s somewhat completely black besides lighter stripes over his shoulders and back legs. He has darker brown eyes and pointy black ears. Personality: Django is a calm and friendly dog who has a strong protective trait. You can do somewhat everything to him, he’ll be just fine with it. He loves to talk and could ramble about anything for hours straight. He’s usually supportive and willing to work with you, yet if it’s something extremely strange, he’ll back off. Django is extremely protective with anyone he’s relatively close with and struggles choosing who to protect when they’re faced with danger. He has a great focus and is a quick thinker. Django can be a bit stubborn and prefers to do things his way, yet easily switches back when he realises his plan doesn’t work. Backstory: Django was born on a western ranch in Texas (How original) by an Doberman mother and a Great Dane father, going to be raised for farm protection and companionship by a lovely couple. At just a few months old, Django pranced and jumped around the farm, playing with his siblings and chasing geese. After reaching 5 months, Django got trained with more intense puppy training, More abuse actually. Being chained to a fence with a shock collar, being shocked if he tried sleeping or pulled the chain. He quickly learned to listen to commands and not try anything stupid. if he did, he would get locked up in the barn, realising his owners weren’t that nice as he thought they were. One fortunate night, Django didn’t get chained up properly and he managed to escape from the collar. He roamed the plains all night untill he reached the highway where he spend the night. In the morning he continued his journey untill he reached the forest, his current home Mate: None Pups: None Other: Has a slight russian accent, yet no one knows where it comes from.

Name: Sakari Rank: Beta Age: 3 1/2 Gender & Sexuality: Female, Straight Breed: Siberian Husky Height & Weight: 22 inches tall, 50 pounds Appearance: www.treehugger.com/thmb/M002yc2evjn-i6gRCC6DSqPX1_E=/1500x0/filters:no_upscale():max_bytes(150000):strip_icc()/portrait-of-siberian-husky-on-snow-covered-field-1321125441-caba351f6be24932af51c65e1fbb28d9.jpgSakari has dark brown fur with reddish tints, and a white underbelly, chest, face and legs. She has some dark spots on her nose, and bright blue eyes. She is well shaped, and her muscles are adequately developed, although she hasn't had much of a chance to actually use them. Personality: Sakari is not necessarily a quiet dog, i mean she IS a husky, as she loves to chat with other dogs. She is mostly an observational dog though, preferring to watch and listen before speaking. She has a calm aura, and believes that everyone is innocent until proven otherwise. Unless they're out to hurt one of her friends. Then she becomes a ball of primal fury. The muscles under her coat allude to swiftness, stamina, and strength. Backstory: Sakari was born at a husky breeders, and was considered one of the top of her litter. When she was 11 weeks old a family came to buy her, a father, mother, and 16 year old son. She was excited to have her own humans, and made sure to let them known that by covering them all over with her puppy kisses. She lived with them for the next 22 months, and was extremely happy. They didn't have a big backyard, but the son always made sure to take her to a dog park to play with the other dogs, and get her energy out. Of which she had a LOT. At the time she thought that the parents loved her as well, especially because she barked a bunch for them, and always raced around the house to show how happy she was when they came home! Didn't humans like that? Of course they did. But.. she was wrong. When the boy had to go to college, his parents and him had a long talk, mostly about "It's not fair to her", and "We can't take care of her" and "She's a high energy working dog" and non sensical stuff like that. But then her boy left. She moped around the house for a few days, but soon perked up, and was back to her boisterous self. But that was her undoing. Two weeks later, a strange car pulled into the drive, and a fit looking lady stepped out. Sakari was happy to see this human after the first bout of wariness, but she was extremely confused when the parents gave the lady all her toys, and her bed and bowls... Those were HERS! But then they attatched her leash, and gave the leash to the woman too! What was going on? Uncertainly she followed the lady, looking back over her shoulder at the parents who waved to her. Reluctantly she got in the front seat of the car, sitting down and panting nervously. The lady got in and petted her, trying to calm her down. And then they drove away. A little while later she arrived at her second home. It didn't have a large yard either, but she soon discovered a vent for her energy. This lady went running! Perfect! She and the lady would go jogging every morning, and go on hikes on the days that she didn't work. Her muscles began to show, as did the evidence of less nails scratches on the floor. But even that couldn't last. One day, after about 16 months at this lady's home, a call came. And it made the lady very worried, and flustered. She rushed around the house putting stuff in a big bag, then bent down to pet Sakari, and started crying. She didn't understand what was happening, but the lady's mother was really sick with cancer, and she lived really far away, and the lady couldn't take her with her. Nor did she have time to try finding a good home for her. A big white van pulled up in the driveway, and before Sakari knew it, she was inside a crate at the back, and bumping away to another place. And so she arrived at the shelter, was put in a pretty large cage, surrounded by other dogs. She stayed there for the next three months, and then the tornado struck. Mate: N/A, Open Pups: N/A, Open Other: She has obviously never hunted, but has all the skills for it, and will most likely be skilled at such.

Form
Name: Winter Rank: 2nd Lead Age: 4 years old Gender & Sexuality: Female; Straight Breed: Dalmatian - Longhaired variety Height & Weight: 22 inches; 70 lbs Appearance:
Personality: Winter is like most typical dalmatian dogs. She is sensitive, and can be prone to getting overwhelmed, but she is sharp, and a good learner. She is warm, playful, and energetic with those that she is close to, but she can be wary of those, whom she does not know, or is closely associated with. She's smart, vigilant, and always on alert. When meeting new faces, she is quieter, and more aloof, preferring to watch from afar. She is stubborn and can usually only be told to do one thing at a time. She can be irritable and antsy, when she can't get her energy levels out. Backstory: Winter was born in a litter of purebred dalmatians, who were bred for the show ring. She was brought the shelter almost immediately, due to the fact that her coat was considered a major disqualification fault in the show ring. Because she was a different variety of a very eye-catching dog, she was adopted on multiple occasions, but returned every time, because the people who adopted her, weren't prepared to see to the needs that she had, as well as her sensitive personality, and strong stubbornness. Mate: None, open Pups: Maybe Other: Despite her unusual coat, she has developed some hunting techniques, that have enabled her to be a much stronger hunter, than she initially used to be.
