Chloe glanced at her phone and liked his message. "I gotta head to work" she said to Molly. Molly nodded. "same" she said. "I have the dog sitter coming by to walk Ellie later." Molly said. Chloe nodded. "alright, perfect." she rubbed Ellie behind the ears and headed outside. "Ok, so I'll pick you up at 4" Molly said to Chloe when they got in the car. Chloe nodded, getting into the passenger seat of the car. Molly drove her to the animal shelter which was where Chloe worked. She got out of the car and said. "Thanks, Mols, see you later" She headed inside and signed in. "Hey, Chloe!" Amanda said, walking towards her. "Hey" Chloe said. "How was your trip?" she asked. "Good. I wish I didn't have to leave." Amanda laughed. "Well, we have got a ton of new arrivals that need some TLC." she said. Chloe nodded and headed into the back

By the time 3 hit, Austin had most of the fields harvested that were still up. He figured he would get the rest done either tonight or early tomorrow morning, depending on what time he got home. His Pop could not sit in the tractor for too long or else his knee would start acting up. He had talked to his grandfather about hiring more hands But he didn't want to. He had remembered the conversation with his grandfather a few weeks ago as he drove home to get ready for his date with Chloe.

"Pop, we need to think about hiring more hands around here since you are not able to do a lot of things because of your knee," Austin announced a day before his long list of flights.

"No, we don't. We have been getting by fine with the ones we have," Pop announced as they sat at a diner for lunch after harvesting some of the corn for a few hours.

"I know just how stubborn you can be, Pop. I don't want to have to quit my job as a pilot to help you out with the full time ranch. But if that is what is going to have to happen, then so be it," Austin announced before he took a sip of his drink that he had ordered.

"No, don't do that. You love to fly and that is what you live for. I am doing fine. It just acts up when it gets cold. You don't have to worry about me. I am my ticker is still tickin' and I am fine. We can get by with what he have for ranch hands just fine when you are gone," George said as he waved off Austin's comment about his knee acting up.

"Pop...I am just worried about you. Lauren is pregnant with her second child and she can't come help anymore since she has Lilly to worry about," Austin reminded him. He did not want to say anything about Jason. But he thought it in his mind. And don't forget about my bastard brother who ran off on us the moment he turned 18. "Pop, just at least think about it. I am leaving tomorrow night for two weeks of flying. I am going to check on you as often as I can while I am gone."

"Austin, I will think about it. Until then, we are doing just fine. I know you love this ranch with all your heart. Don't worry about me too much. I am doing fine. Just worry about yourself. Besides, your Gran has been wondering when you are going to settle down and have some kids of your own."

Austin shook his head as he pulled up to his house. He quickly hopped into the shower and then changed into something a little more appropriate for his date with Chloe. Once he got into his truck, he quickly texted Chloe that he was on his way and that he had about an hours drive to get there.

Chloe was playing with one of the puppies in the back when her phone beeped. "Its Molly" She said to Amanda. "She's here to pick me up." Amanda looked at her. "you don't get off for another hour." Amanda said. "I know..but I was hoping you would be ok with it as I have a date tonight." Amanda looked at her. "ooooo with who?" she asked, suddenly all interested. "with a pilot I met on the plane yesterday." Amanda looked at her. "is he hot?" she asked. "so hot" Chloe said. She handed the puppy to Amanda. "k, I'll see you tommrow" Chloe said. Amanda nodded and Chloe headed outside. "Hey, Mols" she said, getting into the front seat of the car. "Hey, how was work?" she asked. "amazing, I played with sooo many puppies." she said jokinly. The shelter she worked at was where she adopted Ellie. "Austin texted me. He's on his way cause he lives an hour away." Chloe said, buckling her seat belt. "Hey, Julia is stopping by to pick me up." Chloe nodded. "k, she was always like the big sister I never had." Chloe said. Molly laughed and she drove them home. "I should get ready soon. I need to shower, and it will take me about an hour to get ready." Chloe said. After her shower, she got into a dress and curled her hair a bit. She walked downstairs to meet Molly. "woooah" Molly said. Julia was standing next to her. "OMG CLO!" She said, getting up and hugging her. "Hi, Julia" Chloe said. "do you think Austin will like this?" she asked. "YESSSS" Julia and Molly said together. "have fun tonight." Molly said. "thanks, remember Julia, don't bring her back until like.....10" she said jokingly. Julia laughed and nodded. "you gonna be a good girl, Right Ellie?" Chloe asked her dog. Ellie barked and licked Chloe

Austin had to stop to put the address into his GPS in his truck so that he knew exactly where to go when he hit San Antonio. He was only used to coming here to go San Antonio International when he was scheduled to fly. He almost got off on the exit he was used to, but remembered where he was going. It was like he was on autopilot as he drove down that part of the highway. Sometimes he even came to San Antonio for a cattle or horse sale. The GPS then lead him to a small neighborhood where he pulled into the driveway. Sitting in his truck for a moment, he was not sure what to expect. This was a little out his normalcies as he felt that he would only date a flight attendant when he first started at United. There were a few one night stands that did happen between him and a couple of flight attendants. Luckily, he did not have to see them for a while until they were both booked on the same flight. But a few others did work for a different airline. So he did not have to see them again. Then it was awkward between them for a while. After what seemed like an eternity, Austin finally got out of the truck and headed up to the door. He fixed his blazer before ringing the door bell, waiting for someone to answer the door.

Ellie was perched beside Chloe on the couch when the door bell rang. She jumped off the couch and ran barking to the door. "Ellie!!" Chloe said sternly, she jumped off the couch as well and went running to Ellie. "Sit down girl" she said, but Ellie kept barking at the door. "Ellie!" Chloe said again. "sit down" Finally, Ellie sat down, but she kept barking hysterically. Chloe grabbed her collar and she opened the door. "Hi" she said, leaning down to pick Ellie off the ground. "Sorry about her. I forgot to crate her before you got here." Ellie wiggled free of Chloe's grip and went running towards Austin. She put her front paws on his knees and started barking again. "ELLIE!!" Chloe said. She grabbed Ellie and pulled her off Austin. "come in" she finally said, clamming Ellie down

The door opened and he was greeted by Chloe and her German shepherd puppy. He smiled as soon as he ran to him. But she continued to bark. "No worries. I have a dog at home named Maverick. She probably smells him. He's my herding dog." He then took a look at her as he walked inside. "You look amazing. I feel a little underdressed." He chuckled as he followed her inside. "I am sorry that I am a little late. I got stuck in some traffic on the 410." He took his cowboy hat off and looked at Chloe. He noticed some pictures on the wall and looked at them. Some of Chloe, and others of people he did not know.

Chloe blushed. "I think you look great" she said, blushing again. "Thats really wired, considering I work with dogs every day and she never barks at me when I ger home." she said, laughing. "Can I get you something to drink?" she asked. "I just ordered the pizza, should be here in about 30-45 mins." she said, heading to the kitchen. She checked the mirror and quickly fixed her hair. She grabbed her phone off the counter and texted Molly

Chloe grabbed a tray with some water on it and headed back for the living room. "so, how was your flight last night?" she asked

"Exhausting," Austin announced as he sat down on the couch. He took his cowboy hat off and set it on the table before him. "I pretty much slept all the way back from LA. Flying through that many time zones can really take it out of ya. But don't worry, I am used to it," Austin answered as he took a glass of water and took a sip. "I did get to see the Grand Canyon as we flew over Arizona. It's beautiful each time I fly over it. I tend to fly more international flights than I do national. So, the only time I really get to see it is when I am flying back from LAX." He then set his glass on the coaster on the table. "So, you work with dogs? Tell me a little about that."

"ok" Chloe said. Ellie jumped on the couch, and circled herself until she was in the perfect spot to lay down beside Austin. "she likes getting her ears rubbed." Chloe added as Ellie pawed Austins leg. "anyway. I work at the San Antonia Animal Shelter, mainly, I work with the puppies or 1-2 year old dogs. Today, I was playing with a 12 week old husky puppy named Snow." she got out her phone and showed Austin a picture. "she's a bit hyper, but i can tell she'll get adopted in no time." Chloe said, grabbing her water and taking a sip. "I've worked there for about 3 year years this Friday." she said. "I actually adopted Ellie from there." She said. "Here, I have a picture of Ellie with her mother." she grabbed her phone again and showed Austin the picture

Austin looked at the picture and smiled. "She is adorable," Austin said as he rubbed Ellie's ears. "My sister is thinking about getting a puppy for my niece, Lilly. I may recommend that she stop by to take a look. I can come and help her out." He knew that Lauren wanted to teach Lilly some responsibility now that she was 6 years old. Austin thought a pony would be good for her.

" Really, Austin? A pony?! Where do you expect she puts it? In her closet?" Lauren had asked as she looked at her younger brother all wide-eyed after he offered to get his niece a pony.

"No, she can keep it here at the ranch. She can come out as much as she wants to take care of and ride it," Austin offered as he stood there in the living room of his house when they had come over last night.

"Austin, I don't think a pony is right for her right now. I know she adores coming out here to see you and ride the horses...but i think we need to start with something a little smaller. Something like a puppy or a kitten," Lauren replied as she shook her head. "You can aske me when she is older about that pony, though."

Austin looked at the picture again. "I offered to get her a pony, but my sister did not accept that offer very well. She said she wants Lilly to start of with a puppy or a kitten. Something that she can take care of for a while and then work up to a pony."

"Well, tell your sister that we have plenty of puppies waiting to be adopted, and if you want, i can send you that picture of Snow and you can forward it to your sister so she can take a look at her. I know I've never met your sister or your niece, but I think Snow would be a perfect fit for her. She loves kids, and she loves to play. "The only problem is, that everyone who sees Snow falls in love with her instantly, so your sister will have to work fast if she's intrested in Snow." she said. Just then the door bell rang. "Hold Ellie's collar will you?" she asked, as Ellie started barking again. Chloe got up and answered the door. At the door, was Chloe's older brother James, holding a pizza. "James" Chloe said. "what are you doing here?" she asked.

"Well, I herd you had a date tonight and ordered pizza, so I convinced my boss to let me do the delivery." he said.

"but you're not much of a delivery man." Chloe said.

"wow, thats all I get?" he said jokingly. "no hug, no whats up big bro, how you doing?"

Chloe rolled her eyes. "whats up big bro how you doin?"

James shook his head. "to late for that now, Clo." he put the pizza down on a table and hugged Chloe. "I'll call you tonight, so you can tell me about your trip." he said.

Chloe nodded and was about to close the door when he stopped her. "I may be your brother, but you still have to tip me." he said.

"FINE!" Chloe said, grabbing money from her pocket. "You owe me one James." Chloe said.

James laughed. "I owe you a lot little sis," he said. "Love you"

"Love you too," Chloe said, and she closed the door. She grabbed the pizza and walked back to the couch. "He never does that. Sorry about that" she said laughing as she opened the pizza box

Austin grabbed ahold of the barking puppies collar as Chloe left. He could hear the conversation at the door and heard her call the delivery person her "big bro" when she answered the door. "No worries. I assume that was your brother?" He then added in his head, I have one, but i disowned the bastard when he left Texas at 18. He then let go of Ellie's collar as reached for a slice. It sure did look good. He usually ate pretty well when he was at home. But when he was at hotels during his layovers, he ate pretty much takeout. He did make sure to take use of the gym or a pool when he was on his layovers. It was best that a pilot be perfectly fit for whatever came his way. Should it be trying to subdue someone who refused to listen to his rules of the plane, or needing to help get passengers off due to an emergency.

"Yeah, go ahead and send me that picture. I can bring them by in sometime this week. I can maybe meet them after I get off from one of my flights at the shelter and we can take a look," Austin said before he took a bite of his pizza. "I am assuming the delivery guy who brought this was your brother, huh? Surprised he didn't come in to meet me. You know how brothers can be protecting their sisters. I know even though my sister is 2 years older than I am, i still wanted to protect her as much as I could."

"Yea, that was my brother, James." Chloe said. "Like I said to him, he never does delivery's." she said. "Im so sorry about him." she said again. When he mentioned the shelter, Chloe suddenly thought of something. "well, the shelter is still open. It closes at 9, if you want, I can take you over there now so you can meet Snow yourself." she said. "Besides, my co-worker Amanda, has been dying to see Ellie again." Ellie pricked her ears when she herd Amanda's name. "and I think Ellie would like to see Amanda again to" she said jokingly. "I mean, we could always stay here, if you have another idea." she said. Chloe laughed at his next comment. "well James tries so hard to protect me, but on my first date, our patents made him leave so he didn't get all big brother protective. That's why he didn't come in. He knows not to until the third or forth date." she said

"Why not. I can drive us if you want," Austin said as he finished his pizza. He took a drink before wiping his hands on the napkin that was provided with the pizza. He then picked up his plate and took Chloe's plate so that he could take it into the kitchen and place them into the sink. "We can take my truck." He then dug into his pockets and pulled his keys out before he walked back to the table to pick up his cowboy hat and placed it back on. "This might be a bit unusual when it comes to a date, but hey...I am used to the unexpected happening."

Chloe laughed. "alright." she said. "let me just get Ellie's leash." She got up from the couch and grabbed Ellie's leach from a hook. "Ellie" Chloe said. "Want to go in the car?" Ellie bounced around excitedly. "ok" Chloe said. "Come here" Elie bounced off the couch and came running to Chloe. "Sit" Ellie sat down and Chloe clipped her leash on. "You don't mind Ellie riding in your truck, do you?" she asked. "cause I can get her crate if needed." Chloe opened the front door and headed outside. Her eyes widened when she saw the truck
