Artemis nodded towards Galmúr in silent conversation. Her heart broke to see her friend so sad, but she knew that Sugar would eventually get over the first pangs of homesickness and would get used to their new life. ''We understand Sugar, and we are here for you. We will care for you every step of the way. Artemis laid her head across Sugar's shoulder in a comforting gesture, ''We are in this together, ''she whispered.

Sugar smiled and hugged all her friends. “Thank you, guys.” She said, with another smile. She finally understood what her friends were telling her. She shook away the thought and flicked her ears. “Ok” she said. “I feel better, but do you think that we could stay at a trot for right now?” She asked, hopefully. “I think we should reserve our energy until later when it gets later or if we get chased by a predator” Sugar said

Galmúr smiled as Artemis kindly comforted Sugar, and he bent to give her a quick gentle hug as well. "Of course we can, that's a very smart idea" he said, still smiling softly at the young dappled filly before looking over to Artemis, slight worry in his eyes. The idea of predators chasing them was not a pleasant one, and it made him even more eager to find a sheltered, protected place "We really should be keeping an eye out for a spot to rest for the night anyway, it's better to find one earlier than later" he said, trying not to look worried as he smiled again at Sugar.

Artemis looked solemnly over at Galdúr, and perceived his thoughts. ''Galdúr's right we should get moving, but we really have not eaten at all today, we should at least get a few blades in,'' she said bending her neck gracefully and nibbling at a few of the shoots surrounding her.

Sugar smiled and she bent her head to graze as her belly was rumbling quite loudly as she ate the grass. She munched for a little while before laying down in the cool grass and waiting for her friends to finish

Galmúr nodded at Artemis, seeing that Sugar was quite hungry as she bent her head to eat. Staying nearby, he also put his nose to the grass, tearing the tender blades quickly. Every few mouthfuls he lifted his head, scanning their surroundings and looking over at his two friends before dropping his head again. Stallion instinct was already kicking in, and he was acutely aware of the openness of the area, and the fact that anything could sneak up on them from any direction. After a while the buckskin Andalusian noticed Sugar settle down on the grass and lifted his head once more to look over and see if Artemis was done. As much as he knew the younger member of their trio was tired he also knew they didn't have as much time as it seemed. The sun was already at it's zenith, and all too soon it would sink below the horizon, and leave them alone in the darkness.

Artemis noticed Galmúr's protective actions and was grateful to him for it. Once she saw that her older friend was finished eating she too lifted her head and looked out at the flat landscape surrounding her. ''So,'' she said looking back over to the alert buckskin, ''Whats the plan?'' Artemis recognized the young stallion's premature leadership instincts and decided to test him on them.

Sugar lifted her head up from the grass and flicked an ear as she stood up. She glanced at the sky and noticed that the sun was going down behind the horizon. "we need to get going" she finally decided. "if we don't" Sugar stopped, not wanting to go there. She trotted up to her oldest friend and nudged him slightly. "I had noticed that there's gray clouds covering the sky as we were walking....does that mean theres going to be a thunder storm?" she asked, as she pinned her ears. Sugar hated thunder storms and being away from her parents made everything worse

Galmúr frowned slightly, glancing at the horizon once again. Where they had come had been flat plains, with a few trees dotting the area here and there. To the west he could barely make out the shape of mountains. And to the south, he could see a dark line, which hopefully would turn into a forest once they got close enough. Before he spoke, he heard Sugar's voice as she trotted over to him. Quickly he turned his head to glance at the sky, his frown deepening as he saw the dark clouds spreading across the heavens. Lifting his muzzle he scented the air strongly, then turned to the two fillies. "It's still too far away to tell for sure if it will pass over us, but you're right Sugar, we need to move, regardless. Even if it's just a light rain, it will confuse our senses, and that's the last thing we need right now." he said, then glanced over to Aretmis. "I believe we should head South. I think I spotted a woods on the horizon, and there should be more trees along the way to rest by, as well as some water source." he paused then added "As well as the fact that when winter comes, we want to be as far from the cold as possible." he added, hoping his instinctive reasoning was correct.

Artemis nodded briefly toward him, she was satisfied by his plan and knew that it was a wise and well considered answer. She looked over nervously at the ever darkening horizon, but hid it quickly as she smiled encouragingly at Sugar. ''Alright now that we have a set course in mind we should get moving,'' and with that she tossed her head slightly and set off at a brisk trot southwards.

Sugar nodded and followed after her friends...although this time, her nerves were on the incoming rain, not her parents. She kept after her friends as they slowly came to trees, but it slowly got darker and suddenly thunder boomed over head. Sugar flattened her ears and pressed herself into her friends as more thunder boomed over head.

Galmúr smiled at Artemis's unquenchable energy, pausing to make sure Sugar was following before moving into a ground eating trot. The light grew swiftly darker, as clouds scudded over the sun, the ominous gray giving everyone a nervous tenseness. The young buckskin pinned his ears at the feeling, knowing the storm was swiftly catching up to them, and faster than he had expected. The forest, as he could now tell it was, was still quite a ways off, but a little copse of trees loomed up out of the darkness, offering shelter and sanctuary. "I think we should rest here and wait for the storm to pass, or else it'll just keep following us.", Galmúr yelled over a roll of thunder. He could feel Sugar pressing against him, and he turned to give her a look of reassurance. "If there are trees growing here, then there's probably at least a small water source in the area" he added as he changed course and headed for the small area of shelter.

Artemis involuntarily quickened her pace as she felt the first few drops of the cold rain wet her coat. She was glad of the cooling effect the rain had on her hot body, but did not want an entire drenching.

Sugar nodded and kept close to her friends until they came under the safety of the tree. She let out a small breath as another clap of thunder sounded overhead. Sugar jumped and raced ahaed of her friends, finding a spot to hide and hiding herself from the storm as her body began shaking as more thunder boomed overhead of them. Sugar started crying and she closed her eyes as her body shook

The rain began to fall as Galmúr hastened Sugar over to the shelter of the tree, when suddenly an enormous clap of thunder burst from the clouds above them. The youngest filly raced into the brush in a panic, disappearing from view. With a gasp, the young buckskin leapt forward, worried for his youngest friend's safety. Leaping over a large bush he found her huddled against a tree, with closed eyes and crying very hard, shaking with fear. "Oh Sugar, it's ok, we're here" he said, glancing over to Artemis. He hoped the older filly would be able to handle calming Sugar down, because he had more important things on mind. His mouth was beginning to feel rather like sandpaper, and he knew he had to find water for them as soon as possible. He could only hope he lead them right, and would find some water source nearby.
