Sugar took another breath and they were soon starting the test. She had to hang back though...because her legs were trembling so hard, she could hardly move. "I know we're on a time limit here....but I can't move" Sugar said

Galmúr glanced behind him and nodded gratefully to Nacho, following the horse to the edge of the woods, where they would begin the test. But then he realized that Sugar was no longer beside him. Swiftly turning his head he nickered encouragingly to her "Come on Sugar, you're so much stronger than you think!!! If Artemis and I believe that you can do it, then you can! Trust yourself!" he said.

''Come on Sugar,'' Artemis called back encouragingly, ''you can do it,'' she leaned over to whisper into the younger filly's ear, ''do it for Gus.''

Sugar looked over at Artemis and she nodded shakily, following after her two friends as she still trembled

As they all reached the forests edge, the solemn stallion turned his steely gaze to the yearlings, speaking loud enough for the herd behind him to hear. "High Sun is upon you. As three you enter, as three you must emerge. May you return before the Moon rises. The Test begins NOW" he said, letting out a whinny and rearing slightly.

Galmúr's muscles tensed as he listened to the stallion, and then suddenly the call was given, and he reacted swiftly, leaping into the forest along the faint path visible. Adrenaline began thudding through him, but he forced himself to slow slightly, making sure the two fillies had entered with him. Together they would do it, they would triumph.

Artemis reared an plunged after Galmúr, but slowed to be sure Sugar was right beside her.

Sugar looked around. The forest was a lot like the one they had just left. Her ears forward, alert for any signs of danger, Sugar kept a good pace with Artemis. "I think Gus likes me" she whispered to Artemis as they trotted along the path

Galmúr kept his pace swift, settling into a ground eating rhythmic canter. He was surprised to find the path rather clear, despite Nacho's warnings of it being hard to find. He kept one ear tilted behind him, listening for Artemis and Sugar's beat. He heard them both slowing down, and turned his head "Artemis, Sugar, come on!" he called, quickly looking back to the trail again. Suddenly there was a tight bend in the path, and the young buckskin sped around it with ease, then skidded to a halt. "Stop!" he called out, his eyes widening. Clear cut and each almost identical, six paths lay ahead of them, spreading out in all directions. Now he knew what Nacho had meant about using all his senses to find the path.

''I think he does too,'' Artemis answered with a smile. At Galmúr's call Artemis sped up a bit, suddenly she almost crashed into him at his abrupt halt. Looking down every path before speaking she finally asked, ''do you think there is any logic to it?

[Abbster]

Sugar cantered after Artemis and ran into her at her sudden stop. "What on earth?" Sugar asked, as she looked around. "I say we go left!" she said, getting ready to head left. Then she stopped. "no....right!" she said, turning right now. "NO! We go straight!" she said, beginning to go straight.

Galmúr danced to the side slightly as Artemis crashed up behind him, almost running into him. He was about to reply to her, when Sugar came racing up and banged into her, then quickly commenced beginning to dart down random paths. "Sugar!" he said swiftly. "We can't just guess, we have to think about this. Nacho said the trail would be marked." he explained, lowering his head and beginning to scent deeply. The entire area smelled of horses, and he could see light hoof prints on each path. "Ok, Artemis, you take the two paths on the right, Sugar you take the two in the middle, just go until you see a tree near the path or a bush. If you don't see any fresh branches broken, or any marking scrapes on trees, then come back immediately" he said seriously. "I'll take the two on the left" he added, then paused "Unless either of you have a better idea?" he asked hopefully.

Artemis had to take a few steps forward when Sugar ran into her, and laughed a little when she started darting around. ''That sounds sensible Galmúr,'' Artemis said.

[Abbster]

Sugar nodded. “Sure.” She said, uncertainly. She started forward, but flattened her ears. “Ok Sugar” sugar said to herself. “You can do this, just follow what what Galmur said, and go until a tree….but there’s trees everywhere” she muttered, turning. “GALMUR, WAIT!” She squealed, going in his direction.

Galmúr gave a slight smile and a quick nod, his mind centered as he spun and swiftly began trotting down the first path on the left, glancing swiftly at the trees further from the path. A moment later he heard a yell, and swiftly spun, eager to see if Sugar had found the right path. He met her partway down the path and slammed to a halt. "Did you find the path?" he asked hopefully.

Artemis walked down the path intent on the ground and trees surrounding her, suddenly she heard a yell from Sugar, stopped and swiveled her ears hoping the filly found the right path.
