Sugar grabbed the vine, just as the quick sand was reaching her neck

Galmúr strained his muscles as well, slowly pulling his legs out and inching forward with Artemis's help on his knees, knowing that the more his weight was spread out the less he would sink. He let out a gasp of relief as he reached solid ground, stumbling forward and laying on his side for a few seconds before getting to his hooves. Seeing Artemis begin pulling Sugar, he leapt forward and grabbed the vine as well, pulling backwards as hard as he could.

Quickly, with the added strength of both of them, they pulled Sugar out onto solid ground.

Sugar panted there for a moment until she calmed down. “Thanks” she said. “I really hope that was the last test.” Sugar admitted. “I’m really tired, and I’m ready to take a nap” she said, as she stood up and shook herself.

Galmúr dropped the vine, his heart pounding from adrenaline still. "Well... they weren't kidding about these test" he said weakly, feeling very tired suddenly. "I hope so too" he admitted, then looked at the quicksand. "We still have to find a way around this" he pointed out. "I think we should be able to get around on the outskirts I think... maybe I should go first" he said, his mind swiftly moving to the next task ahead of them.

Artemis nodded, she admired Galmúr for his swift sense of command and protection. She followed behind Sugar.

Sugar sighed but followed after Galmur anyway. Her legs basically dragging her behind him and her eyes barely able to stay open. “I’m gonna fall over” she said as she fell onto Galmur. Her eyes closing slightly as started to fall asleep.

Galmúr carefully began stepping forwards, testing the ground with his hooves each time he took a step. "Follow in my hoof prints, then you'll know it's safe" he called behind him. But a moment later, Sugar came up next to him and leaned against him, her eyes fluttering exhaustedly. "Sugar, hey, you have to stay awake and get behind me, we're not past the quicksand yet" he said gently, pushing her back slightly so she would be safe behind him.

Artemis looked with concern at Sugar, ''hey, you've held up so well, I'm sure we're almost, you can do it,'' she encouraged.

Sugar mumbled something tiredly. “Mmm” she said as she stepped back as she fluttered her eyes to open. “N-no” she said. “Please I need sleep” she begged. Soon enough, they were out of the quick sand area, and Sugar flopped onto the ground, her eyes closing as she began snoring softly.

Galmúr tentatively began moving back to the middle of the path, testing the ground super carefully, then walking more confidently as he saw that it was once again solid. A slight thud behind him made him spin, and he sighed as he saw Sugar sleeping on the ground. "Artemis.. I don't know how much longer it is" he said with a sigh "But I know we're not done yet." He looked up at the sky and was alarmed to see the sun so low. "I don't think we have more than two hours left" he said, eyes widening.

Artemis looked down at the filly sleeping peacefully at her hooves, ''should we wake her?''

Sugars eyes fluttered open and she heaved a sigh. “Ok” sugar said, as she stood up and shook herself off. “I really don’t want to be awake, but I know that we have to keep moving…no matter how much I don’t want to. I want to be in this herd” sugar said

Galmúr was about to suggest a gentle awakening when the dapple gray filly woke up by herself, slowly getting to her hooves. "Good" he said, beginning to move forward once again at a quick trot as the trail slanted ever downwards, back to the normal forest terrain.

Artemis followed her friends, spying every once in a while the horse hoof symbol.
