Storm Watcher let herself smile a bit at her catch. She hadn't eaten songbird in a long, long time, mainly relying on mice or rabbit. This would be a nice change. Her stomach growled as she snatched up the songbird, walking over to a thicker patch of brambles and sweeping leaves away with her tail, plopping down on the ground. The land was familiar here. Safe. Even if there were predators, she could always escape through the narrow rabbit burrows below. She had memorized them all ages ago, and she was just small enough to slip through them. She dug into her prey happily, freezing at the daunting roar of a maned wolf. She shook her fur out. It was a sound she'd never get used to. The wind switched directions, and she stiffened again. Coyote. That must have been why the wolf had barked.

Velvet froze. She let out a growl. Then, she turned and stalked away, looking around as she spotted the river, she jumped into it and let the stream run over her soft pelt.

Caido listened for a few moment, scenting the wind again before giving a nod. Good. The Coyote was moving away. He stretched and laid his head down again, shifting in the shade as the sun grew hotter, prepared to wait out the midday heat in a pleasant doze.

Storm Watcher's ears pricked up at the sound of a growl, her gaze shooting to the origin of the noise. The coyote stared at her for a second before stalking away towards one of the larger streambeds. She let out an annoyed snort. Why does that coyote seem to want to annoy me so much? She resumed her eating happily, although she was much more alert than before.

While Velvet was in the water, she looked down and saw a fish. Concentrating hard, Velvet stuck her paw into the water and pulled the fish out, killing it with a swipe. Then, Velvet climbed out of the water and she trotted back to her den

Caido let out a yawn, shifting as a warm breeze blew by, his mind beginning to fog as he began to doze off.

The sun was high in the sky now, and Storm Watcher gave it a sour look. She didn't like hunting midday. No fox did, really. So she hauled herself to her paws, finding herself a perfectly fine berry bush to snooze under.

After she ate, Velvet lay down in her bed, curling up and closing her eyes for a few hours of sleep.

Caido shifted about an hour later, as the suns heat was even stronger. He yawned widely, his sharp teeth glistening, then got to his long legs, shaking himself and padding out from the shade, wincing as the bright sunlight hit him and squinting slightly. He quickened to a swift pace as he moved through the grasses, until he reached the stream once again, swiftly emerging himself in it and beginning to lap up the cool crystal liquid which was so soothing and to his coat and throat alike.

Storm Watcher let out a content sigh. She plucked a single berry from above, chomping the tiny fruit down. Laying under a berry bush was the best form of relaxation- she wouldn't believe another fox if they said otherwise. Nothing could beat the dappled sunlight fading through the leaves towards her, or the soft mossy ground underneath. They even smelled good. Like summer and spring and her old earth. Like Feather Step, who she missed so, so badly. Perhaps she would take a trek though his territory when the sun got lower.

Caido stood a few moments in the stream then padded out as the sun got too hot once more, heading back to the brambles and finding himself a bush that had some plump berries on it, delicately plucking a few and munching appreciatively as he laid his head back down, preparing to doze once again.

Storm Watcher rolled over once more with a grumble, swishing her fluffy tail. Couldn't the day go any faster? She wanted to visit Feather Step and there was no way she was traveling in the heat of day.

Caido fell into a comfortable doze for the next few hours, only waking a few times to drink and nibble on some tasty berries before falling asleep again, the day too hot to do anything but that.
