Ember nodded, forcing herself to relax slightly. A moment later she heard his hoofbeats fade, and she began shifting nervously, listening as hard as she could. So far it seemed the Man hadn't returned, but she knew that could change in a moment. She was beginning to feel even more nervous, when hoofbeats caught her ears again and she gave a relieved sigh, moving so she could see slightly through the gap, then shifting back as a shiny apple was thrust into the hole. With a grateful smile she carefully took it, eating it immediately, her large teeth crunching the delicious fruit to smithereens. So good. She gave a sigh at the sweet taste, moving back to the hole, hoping he'd brought more, but knowing how risky it was or him to have even gotten her one apple, she would not ask him to go again.

When he hears the crunching come to an end, Tempest leans down, taking the next apple into his teeth. He was only able to bring a branch with three apples on it, since he couldn't afford to be gone for too long, nor could he afford to keep going back and forth. Right now, making sure that he was still here, when the human came back, was most important. "Make sure that you eat all of it. Don't leave a scrap behind," He says, after passing her the second apple. He was definitely concerned, and he had no idea how that human would react, if he saw apple scraps inside of a stall. He keeps his ears pricked and alert, for when the human came back. It wasn't a question of if....but rather, when. He knew that he would come back, and when he left, he was taking Ember with him. But he would follow, staying close behind. When he found an opening, he would use it to help get her out.

Ember looked over in surprise as another apple was proffered at the hole, eagerly taking it and nodding as she crunched it, swiftly eating it before replying "Believe me, I won't!" she said in a grateful tone. She wouldn't waste even a bit of the peel, so grateful was she for food. Suddenly she heard the door of the house slam hard again, and she stiffened. "Tempest... I think he's coming to the barn" she said urgently, her ears pinning slightly as she shuddered. What now? She would be put in the trailer, and taken to the auction... would Tempest be able to follow her all the way there? What if he wasn't? She shook herself suddenly, pushing away the thoughts. He would. He would. He'd promised. And she trusted that he would follow through with his promise, no matter what.

"It'll be okay, Ember. I won't leave you alone. I promised you that I wouldn't. Just stay calm and trust me," Tempest says. He knew that this was going to be tough, but he wasn't about to give up. He had no idea where she was going to go, where she would end up. He wasn't going to assume that she was going somewhere safe. And she wanted to be able to see the wild, to see what was out there....to be able to survive on her own terms, without relying on another. He flattens his ears, as he waits for any movement or strange sound, which indicated that it was time to move out, to get ready to follow such a bumbling and grunting, metal monster. It would be okay. He would get her out of here, even if he followed that beast into a completely strange land.

Ember gave released a deep shuddering breath, trying to calm herself as she heard Tempest reply to her unspoken worries. He understood. And she did trust him. "I know.. I trust you Tempest" she said. And then the Man swung open the barn door, and she had to turn her attention to him. "Alright ye scrawny three legg'd mare, teem ter get rid o' ya" he said with a hideous grin, then went back outside. A moment later the truck started with a sputtering rumble, and soon she could see the trailer, as he backed it right to the entrance of the barn, as she had feared. No escape.... she'd have to get into the trailer. She was about to tell Tempest what was happening, when the man jumped out of the truck, slamming the door and then going to the trailer, letting down the back and turning to her, snatching the hated halter and lead rope from the hook and approaching her stall. "Neece and easy mare" he said in a sickeningly cajoling voice as he opened the door. She trembled slightly as the truck's roar echoed in the barn, confusing her mind. Habit took hold and she tossed her nose in the air as he approached, ears flat, eyes rolling in fear. "MARE we deescussed this yisterday, put yer haid DAWN!" he yelled at her, readying the lead rope. Sense battled confusion, and finally she managed to calm herself down, just as he drew his arm back to fling the rope at her. Fighting against fear, she pushed her head down, closing her eyes as she waited. "Weel now, thaits better!" the man said in a calmer tone, pushing her nose into the hardened halter and buckling it tightly, then yanking on the rope. She opened her eyes and slowly followed him, limping slightly with each step. He glanced back and his eyes darkened, and he began talking to himself angrily. "I shoulda sold ya when I haid the chance, I ne'er shoulda boughtcha, ya useless lame mare" he said, yanking her harder as he reached the trailer. Unable to stop her insticts, she balked at the ramp, and he turned on her, already feeling angered that he'd wasted his money on such a horse. "GIT IN!" he yelled, whipping the lead rope through the air, aiming for her haunches. With a loud pop it smacked her, and she let out a whinny, leaping forwards up the ramp, letting out another whinny of pain as her leg flamed with jarring pain. But he didn't even stop to wonder at her whinny, just smacking her neck to make her quiet, and tying the lead rope loosely on the ring. "Naw seetle down, we gottan our's drive ahead o us, so just sit tight an hold ur horses" he said, then let out a harsh cackle of laughter, jumping out of the trailer and slamming the back door closed, the bolt slamming with finality at the back. Ember winced, then realized she was trembling all over, and not just from the pain radiating up her leg. She was scared. She was so scared. The metal box didn't even have a window, just a few small vents along the edges, and there was certainly no water, and no food. Just a metal floor, and metal walls with old ripped padding on the sides. Suddenly feeling in a panic, she let out a loud whinny, hoping Tempest would hear it. He had to... he had to be there. She didn't know how much more she could take.

Snorting loudly, without getting the human's attention, Tempest walks around the barn, using the sounds that Ember was making, to guide him to where he needed to be. His ears were flat against his head, his eyes burning with fury. He could hear every whinny, every squeal, every kick that she was giving. She sounded absolutely miserable, and this was something that had to end. This human sounded horrible, in more ways than one. He stays as close as he could, watching with anger, as the human shuts the door of the beast, pushing the latch. He watches carefully, as he did so, figuring that he could use that information later. When the human walks over to the slightly smaller, metal best, getting in, Tempest walks closer and closer, staying out of sight. He couldn't make a noise, since that would alert the human to his presence. He knew, that the minute he helped Ember get out of the metal beast....that was when he would reveal his presence. There would be no way that he would be able hide that. And a stallion like him, would be worth a lot on the market. If he was looking to sell, who knows what he would do. He watches as the monsters all come to life, roaring loudly, stinking of smoke and fire. When it begins to pull away, he follows closely behind, his eyes locked on it. He wasn't going to lose sight of it, not with Ember trapped in there.

Ember's panic was rising as the truck rumbled to life, jerking forwards suddenly and throwing her against the side with a loud slam as it turned suddenly. She let out a squeal of fear, her hooves clattering loudly on the metal floor as the truck jerked forwards again. After a few moments though, it began to pick up speed, and thankfully get smoother. But still she was trembling. The metal trailer was so small... and with no windows to look out of, all she could do was strain to get her nose close to one of the small vents, and pray that Tempest was following. "Please Tempest... don't stop, don't lose me" she said softly to herself in fear, trembling again as the truck suddenly made a squealing sharp turn, and she was flung against the old useless padding hard. Obviously the Man just wanted to get to the auction and sell her as fast as he could, with no care anymore whether or not she looked good. Ember trembled once again, her heart pounding in fear, her mouth dry already as she realized... no horse alive could keep up with one of the humans rolling beasts... and he had said it would be an hour until they stopped. "Please Tempest... please" she whispered, fear and a weakening hope in her voice.

Once the metal bests roared to life, Tempest takes off after it, staying as close as he could. The beasts were so loud, that he could barely hear the sounds of his hooves, as they were striking the ground. Running alongside, he keeps his legs away from it, so that he wouldn't get hurt. He couldn't see any way for him to look in, so the only thing that he could do, was run. "Ember? Can you hear me?" He calls, as he runs. He wasn't sure if she would be able to hear him, over the noise of the beast. He wasn't even sure if she would be able to smell him. He was running as close as he could, without getting too close. He knew enough about these beasts, to know that they were strong enough to kill. He had seen a deer get struck by one. The sound had almost been deafening, and when the deer hit the ground, it didn't get up again. The thought of that sort of forcing hitting his body, was one that made his blood run cold. Right now, this was the best that he could do. Keeping the metal beast in his sights, was the best thing that he could do, to ensure Ember's safety.

Ember's ears twitched suddenly. Was that Tempest's voice? Was he there? She flared her nostrils, scenting hard, and suddenly she caught a whiff of his scent, and it sent such a strong wave of relief and hope through her, making her feel strengthened. "I CAN HEAR YOU!" She whinnied as loudly as she could, the metal walls making her voice twice as loud. The knowledge of him outside... it made her feel not so alone, and calmed her racing heart. He was there. He would complete his promise. She would be free. FREE. Away from the humans. She would go to all those beautiful places Tempest had been telling her of, she would taste the sweet grass, and the bright flowers, she would drink the crystal water. And he would be there to teach her. The thought warmed her, her eyes brightening at the thoughts of a future... one that could be within her grasp, finally.

Hearing her voice, even over the sound of the metal beast, Tempest keeps up his pace, knowing that he had to stay close by. He had to. "I'm right here, Ember. I'm not going to leave you," He says. The good thing about being a wild horse, was that he was fast and very hardy. he had a great deal more endurance than some domesticated horses. And as such, he was running beside this large, lumbering, metal beast, without showing any signs of slowing, and even when he breathed, it didn't hurt. He was making sure to stay as close as possible. The good thing about this metal beast, was that when it was carrying horses, it had to go slower than it normally could go, which made it so much easier to follow.

Ember heard his voice once again, even though the words were half snatched by the wind, but just the deep comforting tones in the unintelligible words calmed her. She gave a sigh, finally able to accept that she would simply have to be carried wherever she was being carried, and trust Tempest. Which she already did. Leaning against the more padded stall wall, she dropped her head slightly and began to doze, not knowing what else to do. She knew she wouldn't be able to fall asleep, but a small bit of relaxation was all she needed.

Digging his hooves into the dirt, Tempest picks up the pace a little bit. He runs just a little off to the side, so that he wouldn't be blinded by dirt clouds, or bits of flying rock. He was waiting for the metal beast to reach its first destination. He wasn't sure if he had to follow it all the way to the auction. But he would run for as long as he needed to. He knew that, depending on where they all ended up, there was a very high chance, that he would have to reveal his presence. It would be dangerous, since he would likely be seen as valuable, if caught, but he was used to taking risks all the time. It was part of being a wild horse.

Ember pressed against the padding as the truck and trailer continued to rumble and bounce over the unstable roads. Which it continued do to for what felt like hours, her mind becoming just too tired to think as the truck fumes wafted into the small hardly ventilated trailer. She coughed slightly, her throat dry. And then suddenly the truck slowed... a lot. What was going on? She shifted her weight to her three good legs and hobbled close to the trailer, scenting hard. Humans. And the Truck. And a faint whiff of Tempest was all she could smell.

He couldn't see where the beast was going, since the clouds of dirt were building up higher and higher, almost like it was flying. But he could tell that he was still close. The marks that it left on the ground, were faint, but he knew that he would need to not focus on them so much. He saw human paths, how hard and unforgiving they were. "Ember. I'm still here. I won't let them take you," He says. He figured that by calling out, every so often, she would know that he was still there. The smell of the beast was reaching into his throat, almost choking him. But thankfully, that wasn't the case. He locks his eyes on the smaller beast, knowing that it was the thing in charge. Once it stopped, then he could make his move. He knew that it was going to be a trek to get home, but he wouldn't do that, until Ember was free.

Ember was suddenly thrown slightly to the side as the trailer did a sharp turn, a very bouncy one too, and she trembled slightly as she felt them take a completely new direction. Where now? The truck continued to rumble on ahead for a few minutes, then it turned again, a slower turn this time. The truck's sound echoed slightly suddenly, as if there were a ceiling above it, and then it jerked to an abrupt halt, throwing her forwards on her lamed leg and making her give a slight whinny of pain. She limped back to her spot, pressing to the vent and scenting hard. The horrible chocking scent filled her nostrils, the scent that all humans moving rolling things smelled of. It was whatever they fed the metal beasts. And then it struck her. They had stopped. She could hear. Was Tempest there? If he was... would the man see him? Her fears were slightly confirmed as the truck door suddenly creaked open and slammed shut. He had gotten out. "Please Tempest, don't let him see you!" she pleaded to herself, knowing all she could do was listen.
