Charger felt the morning air ruffle his mane. He stood up beside his mother, Celeste, who was grazing beside his father, Charcoal. Charger's older sister, Mystic was a few feet away, grazing with one of her friends. Charger nuzzled his mother. "Morning mom" he said. Celeste looked up and over at her son. "Well good morning my son" she said softly, nuzzling him in return before she went back to her grazing. Charger nickered to her and then he trotted over to his sister. "Charger, absolutely not" Mystic said as Charger trotted up to her. "Oh come on Mystic!" He said. Mystic shook her head. "No. I'm spending time with my best friend." she said. "Go see if Elara's up yet" Mystic suggested. At the mention of his best friend, Charger smiled and then he looked around. He knew where his best friend usually slept, so he began making his way over to her.

Having gotten up at the first light, Elara was by the river, getting a refreshing drink from the river....savoring the taste of the cold water, as it had been flushed down into the valley, from the peaks....where the water was at its freshest. Maybe one day, she would see how close she could get. For now, though, it was always best to stay here, to remain with the herd. Between bears, mountain lions, and wolves.....she wasn't about to take her chances. She hadn't seen Charger anywhere, since she had woken, but then she had remembered, that he was a bit of a late riser. He always woke up just after the sun had risen while she woke up...just when the sun was peeking over the horizon. She could hear the rumbling of hooves, but paid no heed, since she wasn't finished quenching her thirst. Every morning was exactly the same. No matter how much water she drank the night before, she was always very parched by the following morning.

Charger looked around, and his eyes lit up when he saw his best friend. He picked up a canter, and slowed when he reached her, bumping her gently with his nose. "Good morning, Elara" He nickered softly. "I just got up" He admitted with a slight laugh. "But you know me, I prefer to wake with the sun, rather than before it" He joked as he bent his own head into the stream to drink some water. It was always very refreshing being able to have a nice drink as soon as he awoke. Something else he realized, Elara always drank from the stream when she woke up in the morning. "Tomorrow, I am going to try SO hard to actually wake before you" He said.

Raising her head up from the river, some water droplets hanging from some of the hairs on her chin, Elara's ears flick a bit, back and forth, when she sees Charger coming over to her. "Good morning, Charger. Up late again, I see. I see that you prefer to wake up when it's warm," She says. She knew that the mountain air could be a bit chilling, since it took a little while for the sun to rise up over the mountains, where its warmth could touch the valley. "I'd like to see you try, Charger. I try to wake up when the first morning birds get up. The grass tastes much better, when it's covered in dewdrops," She says. Something about eating, before the sun was up, made the grass taste juicier and more tender. Rather than when the sun touched it, sapping away the cool moisture of the dew.

“I had a feeling you’d say that” Charger said. “I’ve been trying to wake up before you since I was a colt.” He said, chuckling at his own joke. “Anyway” Charger said, nudging his best friend gently. “What did we plan to do today?” He asked, jokingly. “All I can remember is agreeing to graze” He said, flicking his tail over his back. “Although….I believe my mother said something about us traveling today” He said. “We should probably graze for a bit” As Charger got an idea. “Or….we could annoy Mystic even though we both know she hates it” he said, tossing his mane away from his eyes as he looked across the herd and just managed to spot his older sister grazing beside their father. “Looks like she’s with my dad now” Charger said, rolling his eyes. “Making it so I can’t annoy her I see” Charger grumbled. “She always does that”

Looking over in the direction, from where the river was coming from, Elara flickers her tail and ears a bit. "Well, I don't normally plan things. You remember that. I always just sort of go with whatever I'm feeling like doing. I think today...I'm going to go to the lake. I don't know how hot it is going to be today, but something makes me want to go and swim. I don't know if you're up for that. Just know, that the lake is where that other herd is. You know how much that herd doesn't like us. Crusade tried to pick a fight with you, until Striker came to help," She says, remembering when they were 2-year-olds, encountering the large, black paint stallion, who was covered in battle scars, his mate, Wisteria at his side. That stallion could be very imposing, and very territorial. He had even tried to steal Mystic, when she was a young filly. Thankfully, Charcoal had stopped him from succeeding.

“I know” Charger said. “But I don’t know if my parents want me going over there after he tried taking Mystic away from my parents before they were born.” He said. “I think we should just stay near the herd today” Charger said. “Besides, now that I think about it, both our parents said that we’re going to be traveling today” He said, as Charcoal neighed for his son. “Speaking of” he joked, nuzzling his friend. “See you later Elara” Charger said as he cantered over to his mother and father. “Hi mom. Dad.” He said. Celeste smiled at her son. “Hi Charger.” She said. “Were traveling today, remember” she said. Charger nodded. “I do.” He said. “I just wish I could travel with Elara” he admitted.

Blinking a bit, as Charger canters away, Elara trots back to the herd, where she goes to talk to Brigadier. He was one of her close friends. They weren't as close, as she was to Charger, but they had their own closeness. Brigadier wasn't born into this herd, but rather, he had been found orphaned. Striker and Thistle had taken him in, and he had grown up with them. There was something different, about hanging out with colts. She had always preferred that, compared to other fillies. They just talked so much, not taking the time to enjoy things around them. When Brigadier spots him, he flicks his ears at her, so that they could spend some time...just grazing. She wasn't going anywhere in particular today, so she would just relax and eat.

Charger looked at Mystic. “So” he said to his sister. Mystic snorted in annoyance. “What do you want” she said. “Mystic.” Celeste said. “You know you need to be nice to your brother.” Celeste said. Mystic sighed. “How can I be nice to him when he annoys me!” Mystic said. Charger glared at his older sister. “Oh come on Mystic” Charger said, nudging her. Mystic rolled her eyes annoyed. “Why’d you come back anyway?” Mystic asked. “Dad called for me” Charger said. Mystic snorted. “I’ll go find one of the stallions, one who actually doesn’t annoy me” she said. Charger watched his sister go and then he sighed, looking around for a moment, before trotting to find his friend, Wildfire.

While Charger was busy with one of his friends, Elara spent most of her time just talking to Brigadier. She knew that there were times, where Mystic could be rather annoyed at Charger, for reasons that she didn't understand. Thankfully, her older brother, Archer, didn't treat her like that. The two of them, when they had been growing up, were completely inseparable. Her brother now had a mate of his own, and had been entertaining the possibility of leaving the herd, to start a family of his own. It was hard for her at times, knowing how close they were, but she also respected, that her brother wanted to have his own life, to form his own herd. Even though he was supposed to be a bachelor, he would stick around, coming and going as he pleased, along with his mate.

Charger eventually did find Wildfire and the two talked for a while, until about high sun, when he said goodbye to him and trotted to find Elara. His true best friend who never found him annoying. “Elara!” He said, when he reached her. “Hey!” He said, nuzzling her. “Mystic is finding me annoying, once more.” He mumbled, with a sigh. “I don’t understand why she finds me annoying.” He said. “Do you find me annoying?” Charger asked her, as she said hello to Brigadier.

Looking up from her food, Elara's ears twitch, when Charger joins her and Brigadier. "Charger? It's good to see you. I don't know why your sister finds you annoying. Maybe she might've felt that way, when you were a foal. Or maybe she's waiting for you to find a mate and settle down. She probably thinks that you're really rowdy. As for me, I don't find you annoying. Your personality is who you are. I would be concerned, if you changed who you were," She says, glancing over at Brigadier, who nodded in agreement. She knew that there were times, where Charger was louder than usual, running around back and forth. But he was an energetic stallion, one who was very friendly, and there was nothing wrong with that.

Charger nodded. “Well I’m glad you two both think I’m not” he said. “Oh Elara! Maybe you could talk to her and convince her I’m not annoying?” Charger asked hopefully. “But then again. If you go up to her and start talking, she’ll probably just end up getting annoyed with you” he said, suddenly realizing something. “OH!” Charger said. “She finds me annoying because I bug her!” Charger said, tossing his mane again. “Oh I can totally fix that….I can fix that…right?” He asked Elara. Charger swished his tail behind him as he waited for his friends response. Although, he was much more occupied in figuring out how to get Mystic to not be annoyed with him anymore, but in order to do that, he first needed to figure out a way to not be annoying in general.

Looking over at Charger, taking a small, half step back, Elara blinks at her friend, taking in everything that he was saying. "I think first, for her, you probably just need to slow down a little bit with her. A lot of fillies and mares, not all, do sometimes like that overly energetic pacing. I don't mind it, because I've naturally hung out with colts and young stallions. I'm used to it. But she might now be. Remember that she likes to hang around Misty. They are very similar in personality. She likes hanging out with other mares, because she, as I'm guessing she would call herself....more mature. She thinks that because you're a stallion now, you should be calmer, more stoic. But you shouldn't change who you are, to please your sister." She says.
