In spite of herself, the corners Cass' lips quirk upwards slightly in the ghost of a smile when she sees Lockian smile. It was probably the closest she had come to a smile in a long time. But she had no way of knowing when the last time she had reason to smile could have been. Beyond a couple of days ago now, she could recall nothing, a reality that haunted her every waking moment now however much she tried to ignore it. She hadn't expected company on this journey, but she was admittedly growing fond of his company. In her own way anyway, even if she wasn't the most outwardly friendly person. She would look out for him as best she could. She had done her best to do so when they were dealing with those brigands, taking the brunt of the attack herself. And it seemed her effort had paid off. He seemed to be doing relatively well in spite of the injury. "Certainly, I'll see what I can find for the pain. The apothecary should at least have some sour-leaf." She says as she slides her dagger onto her belt. Sour-leaf had a nasty flavor, and it wasn't meant to be swallowed, but chewing it could help with pain. If she could get a bit of that, it would do them both good.

Lockian thanked her before walking out the door and back into the gradually filling streets. It took him a little while to navigate these foreign streets and he had a rather difficult time weaving through the merchants who were attempting at selling their wares. Lockian was not interested in any of these and ignored them as he tried to pass though quickly. Eventually he passed a shop the had 'leatherwork' painted in red on its weatherworn sign. Lockian read this and entered quickly, he wrinkled his nose at the stench of tanning hides but tried to ignore it. A burly man came forward from behind a few stretched skins, ''wha' yeh wan','' he asked through a few broken teeth. Inwardly Lockian sighed at how rude people were these days, ''Good day sir,'' he answered instead, ''I'm in search of tack and and a wagon harness.'' The man stared at him for a few moments, ''yeh I 'ot a few righ' 'ere,'' he said turning and leading the way towards the back of the shop where there was a small selection of the items Lockian needed.

Once she was satisfied that her weapons were securely on her person, Cass makes her way downstairs and out of the tavern. As she navigates the busy streets in an attempt to locate one of the local apothecaries, a passerby whistles loudly, catching her attention. She glares at him briefly but beyond that she ignores him and continues on her way. Eventually she spots a sign reading The Old Oak Apothecary. She opens the door and steps inside. It was quiet, but she could feel the shopkeeper's gaze lingering on her as she made her way through the shelves of medical supplies and herbs. She glances at him briefly with a raised eyebrow before turning her attention back to browsing. Eventually, with a glass jar of an herbal salve that was supposed to act as an antiseptic, some fresh bandages and some sour-leaf, she makes her way over to the shopkeeper's counter. The transaction was mostly wordless aside from the shopkeeper informing her of her total, but she didn't like the way he was looking at her. After handing over the gold, she exits the shop briskly and begins to make her way back to the inn.

Lockian bent over to observe one of the harnesses when suddenly out of no where came a forceful punch on his shoulder, it sent him sprawling and before he could get up to recover himself the tanner was upon him, sitting on his back and pinning his arms behind him. Lockian struggled but could do nothing against the powerful grip of both the man's arms. The tanner began searching his pockets feverishly, ''where's yer money, come on, WHERE IS IT.'' Lockian took this opportunity to wrench his body upwards and spin around in the grip of the man, this took the tanner by surprise which gave Lockian the opportunity to deliver him a smashing punch on the jaw. He staggered back and rubbed his jaw but regained his wits in a second and ran at Lockian to try and knock the smaller man over by his shear weight, but Lockian side stepped this and quickly sprinted out of the shop. ''Dont think I'll bring my business elsewhere,'' he said sarcastically to himself as he flexed his body to relieve any strain from tension.

As Cass was making her way back to the inn, she spots Lockian sprinting out of a tanner's shop. Her pupils narrow slightly as she puts two and two together. "What happened here?" She asks, crossing her arms as she shot a glare at the tanner through the window of his shop. If looks could kill, he'd be the second one today. However they could not. So the tanner was safe for now. But she had half a mind to go in there and deal with the man herself. She probably would. No shopkeeper had a right to treat their customers like that. She was fairly certain that she already knew what had happened. But to ensure she wasn't leaping to conclusions, she would wait for the actual story from Lockian.

Lockian ran back towards the inn and looked up in surprise when he saw Cassidy, ''oh he just wanted to try and steal my money, but I gave him the what for and popped him the old one two'' he said shrugging. He followed her gave back towards the shopkeeper who merely glared back at them and closed the blinds to his windows. Lockian wondered briefly how many other customers had received this type of... service. He turned back to Cassidy, ''it is nothing to worry about, I still have my money anyways, but I will need to go somewhere else to get the harness and things... hopefully someplace less hostile,'' he added with a slight smile. His appearance was rather tousled but he would take care of that later, right now he needed to set himself on the task at hand.

"Nothing to worry about? He jumped you." Cass growls lowly, though her anger was directed towards the shopkeeper rather than Lockian. "Don't worry about going elsewhere. Take the key to the room, get yourself taken care of. I'll deal with the likes of him" she says, pulling the key from her pocket to pass it over to him. They could turn the key in on their way out of the inn when they were all set to leave. Regardless of whether or not this man got the money, he needed to be taught that this behavior wasn't acceptable. Lockian had been able to fight back to a degree, but what would happen if he did that to someone who couldn't? He could really hurt someone if they weren't able to hold their own.

''Valid point,'' Lockian nodded, ''but I jumped him back.'' Then Lockian heard that Cassidy was planning on going to the tanner herself, ''Your sure this is necessary,'' he asked, though he knew he would not be able to dissuade her once her mind was made up. ''I'll go with you,'' he said quickly, he had no doubt whatsoever that Cassidy would be able to easily hold her own in any fight but just the same he didn't want her to go and try to teach a lesson to the same man he just whipped without he being there.

"You didn't jump him, you defended yourself. There is a difference." Cass says flatly she reaches the open the door. "If you want to come with, I won't stop you. But I'm not planning on starting a fight. I just want to talk. I'll make my point clear, get what we need and be out again" she says, opening the door. There was no need to start a fight where a well placed threat would the trick. She didn't recall seeing Lockian grab his dirk on the way out earlier this morning, so maybe that was why this man had been so willing to try his luck on stealing from him. Or perhaps he had his dirk and the man had figured he would still take his chances. But she had a greatsword on her back. Such a weapon would likely dissuade most from attacking without good reason.

''I suppose there is,'' Lockian agreed, he had in fact unfortunately left his dirk behind in the wagon, he had been used to those he did business with to be more civil than the tanner had been and had not thought twice about maybe needing it. He made a mental note never to make that mistake again. When the door opened the tanner looked up from where he stood nursing his sore jaw, ''we'r' closed,'' he said gruffly when he saw Cassidy. When he noticed Lockian his eyes narrowed, ''wha' 'er you doin' back 'ere,'' he said darkly, ''come back fer more?'' ''No, but I thought I'd given you your fill, but it doesn't appear so'' Lockian answered coldly though his fists were clenched.

"If you want another fight then you're welcome to try your luck with me." Cassidy replies, positioning herself in between Lockian and the tanner. At an even five foot five inches, she wasn't exactly tall, but she wasn't terribly short either. Still, the tanner towered over her by a good bit. She wasn't afraid though. If he tried something, she could draw her sword quickly to gain control of the situation. "I've been made aware that you attacked him. Such actions have consequences, and you are not exempt to them. I would prefer to solve this without bloodshed, but try me and I will answer in kind. He came in for tack and a harness, and we will be leaving with just that. Get them from the back. And don't make any sudden moves" she says flatly. She didn't make idle threats, if he acted then she would meet his threat with steel.

The tanner glanced at Cassidy's broadsword, ''I dont take orders from some girl,'' he said sneering. He was completely unfazed by anything of Cassidy's appearance or bearing, 'sides, what'r you goin' to do? Poke me with yer overgrown knife?'' At this point he was practically just wanting to argue and defy as much as he could. ''Any yeh,'' he said turning back to Lockian, ''yeh dragged a girl back in 'ere to take care o' yer fights,'' he said looking at him with disgust. Lockian kept silent, he was honestly done with this man and wanted to leave the shop, the keeper was throwing around insults like it was nothing.

Cass quirks an eyebrow slightly as the tanner spews insults. He really didn't know when to hold his tongue, did he? She draws her sword from the scabbard on her back, and advances until she had the tanner backed up against a wall with the tip of her blade hovering just above his chest. She had no desire to harm him, just to frighten him enough that he'd think twice about threatening another person. And of course to ensure they got what they had come from. But he didn't need to know that. "I could do a lot worse than poke you with an 'overgrown knife' if you'd like to keep pushing your luck. Now are you going to cooperate? Or are we going to have a problem?" She hisses. This guy really had some nerve. But she had a feeling that when faced with someone who wouldn't just roll over and yield that he would be more bark than bite.

''Fine,'' he said between clenched teeth, ''I SAID FINE,'' he said louder. He still didn't think she could use the sword but since he didn't not have a nearby weapon to rival hers, he decided to relent, ''jest git yer saddle and whatever else yeh oh so badly want and git OUT!'' He was rather infuriated at this, in his opinion, unfair position he was placed in. Lockian went and collected the tack they needed then laid the money on the counter. ''Alright I have gotten everything,'' he said moving towards the door. He was very ready to leave this town and hoped very much that they would never have to pass through it again.

"Good. Let this be a lesson to you not to threaten your customers going forward." Cass says, sheathing her sword again before turning her head slightly so that she could look at Lockian while still keeping the tanner in her line of sight. "You can step outside with the tack. I'll be right behind you. I just don't want to take my eyes off him until we're both safely outside" she says. She doubted the tanner would try anything now, not when he knew she was ready to draw her sword again if need be. But it was best to be safe rather than sorry. Now they just needed to get Phantom hitched to the wagon and get going for the final leg of their journey.
