The tanner just glared at her, maybe he wouldn't attack on account of unfair odds but he definitely wouldn't cower. As soon as Cassidy turned her back the tanner silently repeated her words behind her back in a mocking manner. Who was she to tell him how to treat customers, this was his shop and his property. Lockian exited the shop with the tack and began walking in the direction of the inn so he could get their horse hitched to the cart, he was quite fed up with this town, he didn't know what it would be like at the castle they were traveling to but surely anything was better than being attacked while simply trying to buy a few things, and then insulted afterwards. He was fine with a fight every once in a while, he knew he could defend himself well, but he didn't glory in it. He shook his head, the sooner he and Cassidy were out of here the better.

Cass shuts the door to the shop once they were both outside. She would have told him to mind his mouth upon hearing his mocking tone as she turned her back on him, but she just didn't have the energy to do so right now. She was feeling achy and feverish, just the same as the night before. But the salve she had bought would help to treat the infection, she could apply some to each wound once they had arrived at the castle on Lord Addaway's land and settled down for the night. And they had sour-leaf for the pain, she had gotten as much as she could, so there would be enough for Lockian too. She knew that his arm had to be hurting, even if the wound wasn't infected. But chewing on a few leaves of sour-leaf would help to temper that for him. The walk back seemed to mostly occur in silence. Dealing with that brazen man seemed to have taken a lot out of both of them. She couldn't have just let that guy get away with attacking Lockian like that. She just couldn't have done that. "Ready to head out?" She asks eventually as they near the inn. Phantom seemed to be content in his stall. But they had to hit the road now. She knew that they both wanted to get out of this city. Hopefully the people on Lord Addaway's land would be more civil.

''Yes I am,'' Lockian responded with feeling, this adventure solidified something in Lockian's mind -he absolutely detested large cities. Your looking a little pale,'' he told he noticing her face. ''I'll get Phantom hitched up and then we can pack up and go,'' he offered as they neared the inn. He entered the stables and made straight for the dapple grey's stall. He just followed placidly as Lockian led him to the front of their cart and stoically waited while Lockian harnessed him and checked the straps. When he had finished Lockian hefted the leather saddle into the cart for later use and led Phantom out of the stables.

"Perhaps I always do... or perhaps not. Who knows at this point. Either way, I'm not at death's door. So that's something I suppose." Cass says as she sets her backpack down into the cart. "Sour-leaf is in there. Feel free to get some if your arm is bothering you. Chewing it should help with the pain" she says pausing. "I would greatly appreciate that" she says, allowing herself to take a moment to lean against one of the walls of the mostly empty stables. If he was getting the horse hitched up, that gave her a moment to recoup before they hit the road. This would hopefully be the final leg of their journey. But she had no doubt that it would be a long one. If they could keep a good, uninterrupted pace then maybe they could make it by evenfall, before it go to be too late at night. Either way, it was early yet and they had several long hours out on the road.

Lockian shrugged, she had a valid point. “I’m alright for now, it generally acts up a lot more whenever the weather warms,” he felt fine at the moment but he knew that once the humidity started kicking in it would definitely begin bothering him a lot more. When he had led the horse outside he belted on his dirk and then swung on his quiver and bow, one never knew what might be met on unknown roads and he knew that is would be better to travel prepared than be caught unawares by waylayers. Now that their wagon was packed and Phantom ready he looked at Cassidy, “alright we are packed, ready to go?”

"Well... it's there whenever you need it. Thankfully it shouldn't get too hot today... it'll likely only get colder as autumn draws nearer." Cass says. She'd need to invest in a thicker pair of gloves for when the weather grew colder, or her crippled right arm would likely be causing her misery, if how it ached and throbbed when it rained the other day was anything to go off of. But she could worry about that later. She could probably find a pair somewhere in a town on Lord Addaway's land. She nods slightly, straightening up away from the wall. "Best to hit the road then, we've got a lot of ground to cover yet and it would be ideal if we could arrive on Lord Addaway's land by evenfall if at all possible" she says. It would likely be a lot quieter there than here in the city.

“I am glad of that,” he responded, Lockian loved the cold weather though he did not like snow overmuch, but the cool often made traveling easier especially once their bodies had gotten warmed up. “That is probably a good idea, minimal rests and meals on the road should get us there in good timing. I’ll just go and make sure all is well with the innkeeper and all we owe is pain,” he said striding towards the door, “I’ll just be a moment.” He came back a few minutes later, “alright all is well, let us depart,” he said taking up his station beside the horse, he clicked to it to get going.

Cass nods slightly, pulling the map from her pocket to check it while Lockian spoke with the innkeeper. She looks up from the map as he returns, folding it up and slipping it back into the pocket of her trousers. "If we keep heading north, we should be there by evenfall" she says as she takes up her spot on the other side of the horse. Thankfully it seemed like the gelding was content to get moving. He seemed to be reliable, which did bode well. Hopefully today's journey would be smooth, without any trouble. So far, they hadn't run into anymore brigands since that first day. And now they only had this one last day on the road to get to Lord Addaway's land. The end of the journey wasn't quite in sight, but they were close enough.

“That sounds good,” he said. Lockian was quite honestly enjoying the journey, at least most of it, he liked that they were able to go far from where he was born and grew up and see places he’d never been. Though now that it was coming to a close so quickly he grew more apprehensive, what if the people were going to be like they were here? He was a social person and loved talking to people if they wished to speak him.

The day wore on as they walked along the road. "That must be Lord Addaway's castle up ahead... we'll be there within the hour most likely." Cass says, glancing down at the map. It was harder to read in the fading light of evenfall, but she could make it out well enough to get a general idea of where they were. They had passed through several small towns that sat on Lord Addaway's land. They seemed to be in relatively good condition, it seemed that Lord Addaway did look out for the people on his land to best of his ability, despite how tense the air seemed to be across much of the kingdom. The city they had stopped in had definitely felt off. It was as though everyone was on guard against some unseen foe.

Lockian squinted at the distant structure, the excitement of actually reaching their journey's end dispelling a lot of the tiredness he was feeing at the moment. It had been a long day filled with short rests and long marches and, though he didn't mind the walking especially since the weather was pleasantly cool, he was still anxious to reach the end and find out if this were the right path he'd taken in life. He hadn't much to say as to the towns and villages they passed since they had after all gone through them rather quickly and with minimal stops, but one thing for sure that was strange was that there was a distinct tenseness in everyone's bearing, he shrugged this off at the moment, it was probably the fact that they were strangers and the people were wary of them as yet.

"It's unnervingly quiet... even for this time of night." Cass mutters as they make their way through the town surrounding the castle. It seemed like everyone was in their homes already for the night. As the reach the castle, she raises one hand to rap her knuckles against the large wooden door. Hopefully someone would answer. It was chilly outside, and her right arm was really starting to ache from the cold. And they were both likely tired from the journey, especially while they were injured.

Lockian had to agree with that statement, people were normally still up and about at this time in the evening or were at least just now getting ready to leave, but this was a rather natural since, he continued beside the wagon towards the castle, it seemed that the portcullis was raised still, so that was a plus indeed and generally meant that people were still going around. But one thing that he was very surprised about was how they weren't hailed by any door wardens or challenged by any guards.

Cass let's her arm fall to her side after knocking on the heavy wooden door. She could hear heavy footsteps approaching from inside the castle. The door was opened a moment later by a soldier in full plate armor. He wore a shocked expression as his gaze landed on the two of them. "Saer Morel? You're back, and not alone. Where have you been?" He asks incredulously. Cass quirks an eyebrow slightly, she recognized the title at least, it was an gender nuetral honorific used for knights and low ranking nobility in the kingdom. Just who was she? "Pardon? Do I... know you?" She asks flatly.

Lockian listened when he heard the footsteps approach. When the armored man opened the door he studied him keenly. He found it odd that he seemed to recognize Cassidy but he didn't really believe that just yet. People often make a ruse of knowing someone to gain something for themselves, so for the moment Lockian remained distrustful and suspicious but masked his feelings very well with an expression of amiability. Though the man didn't seem like he had evil intentions, it was always hard to tell.
